METZGER'S DO IT BEST

Los Alamos citizens are constantly urged to keep their business on the hill. I tried. When my dryer died I purposefully went to Metzgers to order a new one through them. I sat down with Dan Saxton on a Wednesday and ordered the model I wanted. The order was to go in the following Tuesday and the item delivered on the following Friday. Friday rolled around. No word whatsoever. I called to see what was going on and eventually found out that Dan had forgotten to place the order. I was willing to try again. The following Thursday Dan called me to tell me that he had placed the order, but that it and quot;wasn't happeningand quot; and we had to and quot;forget it.and quot; There was no offer of trying again or making any extra effort. No apology. Not even the offer of a 10 cent off coupon. And so, I was left stranded a week before Thanksgiving with piles of laundry and no quick recourse. I wasted three weeks with Metzgers. I have been a 25 year customer of theirs and this is what I get. Keep your business on the hill? Good luck.

I was working on a home improvement project in advance of some visitors that were to arrive a week later. Metzger's Do-It-Best Hardware store is a locally-owned and run store. I went to them to special order some (made in the USA) hardware. It took a little while for them to find it, but they did and got it to the store in time for me to finish the project. They sold me the item at a very good price - better than I could get online.
