I contacted the realtor after seeing a sign. Talked with a different person than was named on the sign. She was awesome, but has since retired. I wrote this review because each realtor at the company is different. I had a friend who hired someone named Jennifer to sell her house and the realtor was not vested in getting what was best for my friend. Many of their people are awesome but not all. If you decide to use Steinborn vetting the person to see if they are the right fit for you is essential. Be especially careful of the ones who will only show places in Sonoma Ranch where nothing sells and you are basically 10 miles east of the heart of Las Cruces.

This is for the rental management part of the company only. My daughter lived in one of their properties for nearly 2 years. It was dirty when she moved in, and the yard was a mess. She had several problems that she reported over her time in that house, and the response was slow, when it even occurred. She reported leaks in the roof several times, and no repairs were done until she threatened to submit a bill for her damaged items -- then it was fixed - sort of, as it leaked again during a heavy rain. During this time she shampooed the carpet several times, and the wet odor never really went away. The kitchen sink clogged up and she finally got repairs done after complaining that the cabinets were being ruined by the leaking water. She painted 3 of the rooms while living there - very neutral colors, and with the permission of the owner. She replaced a ceiling light/fan in the dining room because the old one was dangerous. She reported a large amount of leaking in the back of the 2 car garage -- which damaged some of her things -- nothing done EVER. When she decided to move out of state, she arranged for 2 men to do the large yard and haul away debris. They did an excellent job -- but then we had rain almost every day for 3 weeks after she moved. She was told that she left the yard a mess. She paid those two guys over $200 to do that work, and it was done well. The manager claimed it could not possibly have rained that much in southern NM in 3 weeks. WTH? He lives here! We've had record rainfall this August-September. They hired a cleaning crew to clean after she and I cleaned and she moved out of state. We spent an entire day mopping, cleaning window sills, counter tops, floors, bathrooms, etc. We rented a carpet cleaner for the one room that had carpet -- the same room where all of the leaks happened. The rental agent claimed the house was filthy. I guess hiring a cleaning crew is standard practice at Steinborn -- the agent claims he even has photos of how dirty it was. Funny, there must not have been a camera or a crew available when it was "cleaned" before she moved in. BTW - this house is going to be put on the market. She knew this when she moved out, and believed that they would absolutely have to do a lot of work just to make it ready for sale. I don't know if this is the general quality of Steinborn as a rental agent, but I would avoid them at all costs if this is how they do business.

I have used Steinborn since moving away from LC several years ago. * They have been and continue to be surprisingly unresponsive, ignoring emails and phone calls more often than not. -- when they do respond, they provide incomplete or unclear answers * They have made modifications to the wiring of my home at the request of the tenants and *without* seeking approval from me. -- mind you these were *changes* not repairs -- they billed me for the work * They neglected to tell me the tenants did not exercise their option for a 3rd year on the lease *after* telling me the tenants wanted to and I gave approval -- 6 months later I get the surprise that the tenants are leaving when I believed they still had another 6 months on the lease * I requested an appraisal on the house several times and was completely ignored * When I called management (several times) to complain, I never got a return phone call -- they did switch me to a different property manager who is, frankly, no better * I have had billing errors, being charged the management fee twice in a month -- I have to catch these errors and go after them to get them fixed * For all this, they charge a fee of 10% These outfit is breathtakingly unprofessional and disinterested in any kind of customer service. It's as if they flipped on the auto-biller and went to sleep. I could probably do better offshoring the property management to a 3rd world country in Asia. Do not make the mistake I did. Steer clear of this firm.
