From the very start, things didn't go as we were told they would. We were told the guys would start at 7am, (which is against city codes) and they didn't show up till 8;30. We were told that the Evap. Cooler would be off as little time as posssible. That they would work up to the Cooler, take it off, & then replace it after they roofed around it. That didn't happen. The Cooler was off for the whole day. It was HOT in the house. I was also told that they have a tool that picks up all nails that fall around the house. They have a tool allright, but it sure didn't pick up all the metal washers or nails and I am still finding them 6 mos. later. And it only picks up metal. There was a lot of wood splinters left behind too. I expected a lot of noise from hammering and whatnot. But when the guys on the roof dropped those heavy bundles down on the roof, not only was it extremely loud, but the plaster started falling from my ceilings. I lost count of the nails that popped thru. I had to get my ceilings repaired and painted afterwards. Thankfully they needed it anyway. Once when I went out to watch, a roofer lost his balance, and almost fell. It scared me half to death! As everyone around here knows, OUR WINDS ARE FIERCE! My Skylight never used to make any noise, but now when the wind blows hard, my Skylight makes a howling noise. The owner practically begged us to hire him, and then after we hired him, he wasn't very prompt about returning phone calls. We described to the owner everything we wanted done, but several times it became apparent that he didn't communicate that with his crew, and since he only showed up once a day for a few minutes, I felt the work could have gone a lot faster if he had been there to guide his crew. On the positive side, they painted those exhaust pipes that stick up all around your roof to match the roof. I thought that was great, and was a very pleasant surprise! Loved that! They did a good job on the roof and it looks great! But the noise, damage to my ceilings, and the debri left behind really made this an unhappy experience.
Description of Work: We hired them to remove our old shingles, check and repair any problem areas, and put on new roofing shingles.

Response from Iron Cross Construction
I would have responded to this review much sooner, but did not realize that one had been left. In order to properly shingle the roof the evaporative cooler must be removed, which is always explained to the client ahead of time. We did try our best to minimize the time that it was down and let the client know ahead of time that would not be working that day in the event that she wanted to make arrangements to be out of the home. We always do our best to thoroughly clean any area around the home. The bundles of shingles are very heavy; however, we do try to be as careful as possible when loading the roof with them to minimize any inside damage. On the other hand, I always explaing to my clients ahead of time that nail pops are common and offered to repair the nail pops for this client, but as she said, it needed to be done anyway so she declined. My crew is OSHA trained and certified and always adheres to OSHA safety standards, including stopping work in excessive wind conditions. I offer the highest quality work at unbeatable prices and let the quality of work and the knowledge of both myself and my crew speak for itself. Although I do check in with my crew at least twice a day, I have a very competent foreman with over 15 years of experience who supervises the crew as they work. If there is ever an emergency or immediate issue, the foreman will contact me. We work efficiently and provide the best quality of roof in Las Cruces. We do not cut corners on material or workmanship. I appreciate all of my clients and their feedback and strive to provide each client with the highest quality roof while constantly searching for ways to improve the roofing products that we offer.
