Description of Work: They did a great job with several repairs on s home we sold and the one we bought. But they got very expensive and gave an estimate of $300 to install a small pet door on an interior hollow door. Gave the estimate over the phone without actually looking at the job.

My initial impression of Home Repair Contractors was good. They were sent out by my home warranty company to investigate a plumbing leak. They scheduled the appointment promptly and the technician showed about a half hour late. He investigated the leak and determined that it was coming from a gap between the grout and the tub. He had to cut open a hole in one of our walls and before I authorized him to cut into it he assured me that they would trim out the opening to leave a permanent plumbing access. Once he determined the source of the leak he advised that he needed to contact my home warranty company to get the repair authorized due to the cost. This is when the trouble began. After a week of no call back I contacted Home Repair Contractors and they told me that my warranty company denied the claim. I asked why they hadn't bothered to tell me and they offered no explanation, nor did they apologize. I contacted my home warranty company and they advised me that they had not denied the claim and that they were waiting on documentation from the contractor. They advised that they would follow up and get back to me. About an hour later they did advise that they finally received the information from the contractor and that, yes, the claim was denied. I asked about the hole that remained in my wall and they advised that the contractor should have closed it up doing a rough patch, meaning drywall tape and mud, but no sanding and texture. I advised them that the contractor told me he would be adding trim around the drywall to leave an access and they told me that was between me and the contractor. So I called Home Repair Contractors again and spoke to Glen. I described what had happened and he indicated that they would not be taking care of the trim and that his technician never said that. Why would I lie? In his defense he did offer to come back out to put the drywall tape and mud, but I declined as the prior technician had already done so much damage, i.e. lousy cut, drywall mess left everywhere and a much larger hole than I would have authorized had I known they were not going to trim it out. I feel that an appropriate response by the owner of a company would have been to honor what his staff said.

Badly. See above
Description of Work: Came, looked, then when I called to get quote, no response ever. Just dropped me with no explanation. Seemed fine at first, but totally unprofessional in the end. Went to someone else. Would never recommend this company.

He was very nice and talked a good game but cannot proceed without a quote.
Description of Work: The owner of the company came to my house to give me an estimate for 2 projects. He took my email address and said he would send quotes. Over 2 weeks have passed and I have not seen a quote. I called the office 3 days ago and again asked for the quotes but still not quote.

I contacted them and Gary set up an appointment to come see the work. He showed up at the appointment time and I explained everything to him that I wanted done (I had explained on the phone as well before setting up the appointment). After several weeks had passed and I had not heard back, I contacted them. The person answering the phone said she would give him the message to call me back. After another week and a half, without hearing from him, I called again. He told me that most of the work was not something that he could not do and he had contacted another contractor to get in touch with me for parts of the project., He never followed up with this other contractor to see if he made contact, or with me. If the work was outside of his scope, he should have let me know when he was looking at the job. This contractor is a total waste of time in my opinion, and pretty unprofessional. I am glad I discovered this during the estimating process.

After calling for an estimate, Gary came out on the day selected and arrived on the minute of the time we had scheduled. We showed him the jobs and he gave us the approximate cost. After my husband agreed, his office followed up by calling to set an appointment. The repairmen arrived and did the work quickly, efficiently, and competently. A few days later Gary called again and asked us if we were happy with the results. Indeed we were! Highly recommended.
Description of Work: My husband and I had a few small home repair jobs: a couple of drawers with broken hardware, a pantry door that needed to be rehung, a leaky faucet in the kitchen, and the installation of grab bars in our tub and guest shower stall. HRC completed all the repairs in a few hours.

He came to meet on the appointed day. He took notes and a picture on the work to be done and said he would get back to me the next week. I called him in about a week to get his quote as it was a very small job to figure. He did not have prices on the window, etc. so as to quote the job. I used someone else.
Description of Work: Needed a price to put in a new bathroom window with tile window sill. Also a new shower head and curtain rod and grab bar.

We first met HRC through our decorator when the company was brought in to patch drywall during remodeling of our master bath. It's people were so professional in appearance and manner that we expected them to be expensive. They weren't. Later we employed them repeatedly to handle various jobs that arose during protracted remodeling of our house. In every job we assigned to HRC, work was delivered on time and meticulously performed. The new fibreglass French doors rejected stain, but the HRC painter just kept at it until the color was right. The accent paint he applied inside the house was beautifully exact. The workmen were reliable, pleasant and cleaned up after themselves. Every job was inspected and approved by supervisory personnel. We could not have been more pleased with the work that HRC did for us. We expect to continue to call on them for any additional work we need done. Before we encountered HRC, we thought of a handyman as someone who does home maintenance work that does not need special skill or expertise. We now see it as a term that describes one more skill set in a professional home repair contractor's repertoire.
Description of Work: Sale and installation of new water heater Installation of new dishwasher Removal and replacement of kitchen built-in appliances and sink to allow installation (by 3rd party) of quartz countertops Refinished, painted and stained front gate Refinished exposed wood beams in entryway Recaulked shower Stained 3 sets of fibreglass French doors (resistant surface requiring repeated applications of stain) and front door Painted accent color trim in several parts of house Patched and repainted drywall after electrician completed his work Repaired exterior stucco to remedy leak in heavy rain

I prepared a punch list of all the items to be done to get the house ready to rent. I submitted it to Gary, the owner of HRC and asked him for a bid. He provided a detailed bid based on my punch list (which is the basis for the description above). The last 4 items were added as the job went along. I told Gary I wanted to get done as close to the end of June as possible but the exact date was not critical since July and August are the best months to get a house rented. Gary warned me that he had commitments for a couple jobs that would interrupt the work for me and I agreed that he could meet those commitments even though that would mean some disruption while things were being worked on. Gary's people are skilled at their trades, careful in working and cleaning up and professional in work habits, ethics, trustworthiness and timeliness. I've used HRC for lots of smaller jobs before but this was the biggest one to date by far. Gary and his workers kept me posted on when they would be at the house and what they would be doing. They called before coming except when we had made a specific schedule arrangement. They showed up when they said they would and called if something happened to change the planned schedule. Gary's people are hard working and independent but Gary stayed close to what was going on and came to check and make sure about any issues on a regular basis. The overall process was painless. I prefer emailed invoices and Jody has been very helpful with that, as well as taking a credit card over the phone for payment. I'm very pleased with HRC. I know I will get quality work, done as I want it and good value for the money. They are not the absolute cheapest people who are doing work in the area but if you want consistent, quality work done on a timely basis, they are a great choice and are worth what they charge. They also are reasonable about charging for the work and not looking to nickel and dime the customer with minor little things during the course of the job. Highly recommended.

Excellent service and repair in a very timely manner.
Description of Work: HRC was sent to my house for a home warranty repair for a running toilet. I received a call from them shortly after I reported the claim to the home warranty claim service. I was asked if this was an emergency as they would have sent someone out immediately. Since it was not we scheduled an appointment for the next work day which was Monday after Thanksgiving. David was actually 30 minutes early for the appointment, had the part to repair the toilet on his truck and had the repair completed within 45 minutes. Everyone at HRC was very professional and thorough and left no messes. It was nice to see they had a truck equipped with parts. Very often I find repairmen today who do not carry parts so have to return to actually do the repair. And, of course, they charge you for the additional travel time. I will definitely use HRC again.

This was a very good experience. Greg was here for two hours, and his work was careful, thorough, and knowledgeable. The antenna project was not completed on the inside of the house, because more cable was needed, and he said he was not "a cable guy". I appreciated that he did not try to work on what he did not feel qualified to do, and we have a temporary setup at a window that will be fine until we get the cable guy. I felt the price was reasonable, considering the time spent, the care taken, and having to go up to the roof. I feel quite comfortable in using this provider again.
Description of Work: Workman installed a ceiling fan, balanced another fan, and attached a small radio antenna on the roof.
