We can't say enough to express how much we appreciated Kent and the work he did. Our job consisted of not only having 7 regular grab-bars installed but an upgraded toilet assist which consists of two bars that rise AND lower operating independently on each side of the toilet in our guest bathroom. They lower and lift back up to the wall when not needed, and one includes a toilet paper rod to complete it's efficiency. We also had two " Toilevators" brandname, installed under each of our two toilets so that we had our 2 toilets lifted 3" without dealing any longer with those nasty plastic toilet risers that will take urine stains that are impossible to clean. He has a partner that specializes in the toilet jobs. They work together flawlessly. In the middle of ALL this, we had a crisis with my elderly husband who required a two week hospital stay and then "away from home" recovery care, so I was tied up with his care. Kent can be trusted implicitly as I had to arrange a "hide a key" during my husband's crisis, which worked perfectly. He was a Godsend since he performed the complex job flawlessly, in two days, operating when I couldn't be there. He has a great working relationship with his "toilet expert" partner, with Kent being the lead. Kent will be my "GO TO" contractor for any construction job at our house, in the future!!! (p.s. He has a good heart and showed compassion when he inquired about my husband & wishing us both well. STELLAR!!! --- LZ

It went perfectly! Kent Higgins takes obvious pride both in his work and in his professionalism. He responded quickly to my request for a bid. He arrived on time and assessed my needs, discussed options in detail with me, and respected my need to consider them before deciding. He insisted on returning to discuss the final estimate in-person. He has a network of colleagues to whom he outsources parts of his jobs, but he takes personal responsibility for ensuring that their work meets his standards. Throughout our interaction, he would call ahead to let me know when he would come, or to let me know when he would be arriving even a few minutes late because of some other job. He worked very hard to accommodate his schedule to mine. In the end, he and his team actually did a bit more work (specifically caulk and grout work) than I had initially indicated. I was only too happy to pay them extra for it. The final cost was $3783. The next time I need anything done about the house, I will call Mr. Higgins first.

Kent was always on time and very professional. He did an absolutely fantastic job with the tile and left the area clean as it was when he started. The price was more than fair for the job at hand. Overall, we are very happy with Kents work and would recommend him to anyone that needs work done to their bathroom. We will definitely give him a call next time we want to change something in ours!

Work was done VERY PROFESSIONALLY, at a reasonable cost, AND in a very timely manner. CKH is always good for their word on their cost estimates and timetable (I've had them do work for us before 4-1/2 years earlier, and was similarly impressed). This company is honest, extremely CAPABLE of handling a WEALTH of different home improvement projects, and are very picky about doing the job right the first time. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs to do any kind of home improvement project, either small OR large. I'll definitely use them again in the near future.

Did an amazing job, on time for job and even cleaned up very nicely.

Work was done on time, the job took less time than they had estimated and Kent and crew did a couple of minor repairs they came across in addition to what they were working on at no extra charge!!!! The clean-up they did was great, and I did not have to come behind and clean up anything or repair anything after they had completed their job. They did an excellent job. They were great from start to finish. I will be calling them in the future for other jobs.

The entire project went amazingly well, and I actually enjoyed the process. It was long, five to six weeks, but Kent and his assistant Orlando worked steadily until everything was complete, even the extra bits. They were both unfailingly considerate and cheerful. Kent scheduled sub-contractors efficiently, which I appreciated. He was also a good sounding board for my ideas, and I believe we worked well together. There is a follow-up project I have in mind, and I certainly plan to use CKH-Kent Higgins again if possible.

Kent and Orlando did a good job overall. However, Kent was not very good with communication. We made a detailed list for him of what we wanted done and thought we had talked it through thoroughly. Several times, he told us that something we thought he was supposed to do was not in his estimate. These were always added expenses even though we were under the impression that they were included. Kent also went ahead and painted cabinets even after I told him to wait. He did repaint them to our liking but that caused extra time that could have been avoided. The project went on much longer than we had anticipated. Kent was respectful of our living space. He and Orlando cleaned up every day and worked hard to protect our belongings from the work they were doing. Most of the things we weren’t happy with, were fixed. Kent did some extra work that he did not have to do. However, my husband was offended with some of Kent’s disagreements with him, His work was pretty good.

He was very detailed, thorough, and consulted with me throughout the process. His workers were punctual, conscientious, and respectful of my living space and presence. No dust was created in the house because he installed a plastic barrier. The job took longer than expected, and required a couple of work order changes, which were professionally handled and receipted.

They are very good. They are professional. He is not cheap. But he does the job meticulous, and he guarantees the work. he is very good.

The crew arrived on time as scheduled and worked full days all week until the work was done. They did an excellent job of cleaning up each day. Kent was diligent about discussing the details as work progressed to be sure that they did what I wanted. I am very happy with the results. It cost somewhat more than I had hoped but it was a fair price considering the amount of work involved.

It went as expected. The repairs are invisible. Kent is a perfectionist and expects the same of the people who work for him and with him. The other jobs he has done for us in the past include patching and painting stucco, repairing and painting drywall, installing doors, and painting metal fences and gates. All jobs have been done with the right preparation, work, and quality of materials that are intended to make the results last. That said, you could probably get someone cheaper to do the job, but you won't get it done as well. I have never felt like I have overpaid for Kent's services. If quality is important to you, I strongly recommend him.

Contacted Kent Higgins of CKH Construction on 7/22/15 to request quote for replacing 1 section of water damaged sill and 6 cracked tiles in laundry room. Kent advised that he could come by that evening about 5 p.m. Kent arrived as promised and inspected the problem areas. Kent quoted $475 to do the window repair and advised that he would subcontract the tile repair to Don Frietze of Frietze Tile Custom Installations. Don came by the next day and we discussed what needed to be done to replace the tiles and what could be done to help prevent them from cracking again. The quote for the tile/grout work was $375 which included purchasing extra tiles for laundry room and kitchen/hall. It was agreed that these quotes would need to be adjusted if additional damage was discovered when the damaged section of window sill was removed. We also agreed that work would begin around mid-August. When the damaged section of sill was removed on Aug 17, it was apparent that the entire sill was water damaged and would need to be replaced. Kent suggested that instead of replacing the curved sill in 4 sections as originally constructed, a 1-piece sill would be more attractive. We agreed to this change and Kent proceeded to have a 1-piece sill manufactured of cedar to match the dimensions of the original 4-section curved sill. While waiting for the new sill to be completed, we received a fairly heavy shower and discovered that the window, which had been installed a little over a year ago by another contractor, was leaking badly. We informed Kent of the problem and he inspected the entire area around the exterior of the window for possible sources of the leak. Kent filled several stucco cracks around the window, patched a small hole in the roof above the window, applied sealant around the exterior frame of the window, and painted the repaired stucco areas. The total cost for the entire job was revised to $1349.00. Kent and Don are two of the most professional people I have ever done business with. They were both very thorough and polite. They returned calls, showed up when they said they would, and cleaned up after every visit.

Kent and his guys, including well chosen subcontractors, never cease to amaze. His work is meticulous and without compare in our area in my experience. He stands by his work. For example, a minor accident by one of his guys resulted in him compensated me in full for the damage. In short, he is honorable and trustworthy; he won't leave the scene until its done right. Another example: one of the replaced appliances had a minor dent during shipping and he immediately spoke with the supplier, who sent a new one right away. He's updated wiring, drywall, and boards, some of which wasn't even up to code. He happily accepts add ons without complaint. In short, Kent is excellent and I will use him for all future remodeling on our house. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The work was performed at or above expectations. Kent and his guys are perfectionists and highly skilled. They stand by their work. In fact, they recently returned to replace 10 boards and post that bowing as the wood was too green... all free of charge. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It went great. I will start with the bathrooms...my home was built in the 50's so I wanted to leave the tile but get a super good paint job, clean the tile and the big thing for me was to refurbish the medicine cabinets that are metal. I thought it would be easy to just go to a car body shop and ask them to treat the metal to remove the rust and pits. My contracter checked several body shops and metal shops none could be found. He went above and beyond searched the web and found a company in El Paso that would repair the metal. He went and checked it out. That company did an awesome job. On top of that the electrician that he uses redid the light covers. The medicine cabinets are amazing to me and make my bathrooms "Retro-modern". I was pleasantly surprised that he hit his deadlines. Mr. Higgins also took the time to vent my bathroom fans out the side of my home instead of penetrating the roof which might cause future roof leaks. Mr. Higgins communicated well with me. The paint jobs in my rooms are excellent. I had problems with bubbling paint which would eventually peel. Well no more bubbling paint. Because I live close to a train track my home does a lot of settling so those hairline cracks that start becoming more and more noticable as months, years go by are gone the patching on the ceiling and walls are seamless. The electrician that Mr. Higgins employs found electrical issues that were not expected and fixed them to code. The outside went just as well, it is not noticable where he replaced wood. He matched the color of my Pella Window trim perfectly so that my gables and trim, soffets could all be that same color. He kept me informed as to when they would not be working due to weather, material procurement. Mr. Higgins and his helpers were professional, respectful and responsible. They made sure my animals 2 Dogs and a cat were all present when they left each day. Their equipment was put away each day.

Kent is amazing! He is extremely thorough, punctual, takes pride in his work and is very patient. He presents options and readily shares his expertise when asked. This was a huge project and of course there were some glitches but he is very reassuring and confident that all will be okay. He is very detail oriented and explains the 'whats' and 'whys' of not only his (and George's) personal work but also that of those he coordinates with. If there is any problem, he is on it immediately. He and George have been here daily for over a month, always arriving at or before 8 and usually not leaving until 5. He takes great care in not leaving a mess at the end of the day: machinery and supplies are covered and out of the way. I would highly recommend this company. I have recommended him to friends and they have since used him with successful results. He was very punctual and he also had high expectations of his team in this area. His quality of work was very high.

I would highly recommend him. He gives a good quote, he does what he says, he is responsible, and you can count on the work. If something needs to be changed for whatever reasons, he will talk to you about it and tell you why you shouldn’t do it this way and why it can’t be done. He does the best to accommodate you.
