They came out and the man said he’d get back to me, but never did. After calling and calling, I finally got a hold of them. They told me right off it would be over $800 to repair my unit, which I told him wasn’t much more than what it would cost to replace the air conditioner. He agreed and that was it. They were very rude and we ended up getting the work done for $300 with someone else.
Description of Work: We have a Honeywell air conditioner and asked them to come to service it.

Member, Please accept our apologies for our failure to follow up effectively and for the attitude of our technician. I have mailed a letter today offering a year of free club membership to try us again. Again this is not the way we treat our customers and would like another chance to prove what a great company we are. Thanks, Sandy Adams Administrative Manager

It was an insurance claim. When they did the furnace the ducts on my floor collapsed so they tied into the ducts for the front cooler. They did a good job on it. The experience was good. They did the work, everything worked and we had one problem but that was from the furnace manufacturer. They came out and took care of the problem.
Description of Work: Wagner Mechanical replaced my furnace from a down draft that went to the floor to one that heated from above. They installed a 92% furnace and they did the work to change it over, I also had them remove my front cooler and put in a refrigerated air unit.

The new unit installation went well, but it required several service calls over the next 5 years for parts replacements. Starting in March 2009, the furnace would only intermittiently ignite when triggered by the thermostat, and I called Wagner to diagnose and fix the problem. The unit was eventually fixed, but the road to get there was bumpy. The dispatch manager Larry was very responsive and set up appointments right away. In spite of several visits, the technician could never come up with a definitive diagnosis, though he suggested some warranty replacement parts (~$1,000 labor), and his official recommendation was a brand new unit (~$7,000). I went for the warranty replacement parts and the unit has worked with no problem for a year since the last part was installed. I was not impressed with the level of support that the technician got in the field. He spent a lot of time on the phone with few definitive answers. He eventually fixed the problem, though if I had done as he suggested, I would have trashed a 4-year-old unit and bought a brand new one. Then there were billing problems. I found a duplicate charge on my credit card for about $160, which was related to a specific service call. I lined up all my invoices and matched them to sevice calls and was certain that this was a duplicate. I called the Wagner office and explained the issue, and was told that somebody from customer service would call me back. I waited a week, called again, and was told the same. I waited another week, called back, and was told to photocopy my credit card statements and FAX them to their office. I did as instructed, waited a week, and eventually somebody called me back and said that the duplicate charge was an error and that I would see a credit appear on my card. In the end, I have a furnace that works and the billing errors were corrected, but it was a frustrating experience and I didn't know who to trust. There was clearly internal confusion and insufficient field support and communication. I don't feel that I would have gotten the work completed or billed correctly if I had not spent a great deal of time on the phone with the office and at my house standing outside with the technicians sorting out the problems.
Description of Work: Wagner installed a new combo gas furnace and air conditioning unit in my house in 2005 to replace a 25-year-old unit that failed during the cooling season. They returned several times over the next 5 years for service calls.

I used them for a long time and I was really pleased with them, but they are under new ownership. He told me that there was a piece of concrete that had dislodged and it was going to cost me $2500 to replace the cleanouts and tear up all of the concrete and redo it. I went for quite a few days with limited water use. I called another company and they told me there was no blockage in the line but there was a wadded up piece of paper that was three feet above the water line. Wagner has done some other things for me since the new ownership and I get the impression that they are trying to make money by pointing out all sorts of problems. I was really upset over this. I get a bad and suspicious feeling from them.

On July 6, 2206 we agreed to purchase two Carrier heat pumps and two 20 KW heaters (electric strips) in the amount of $21,592,20. We were given a verbal quote by the salesman at the time that the electric heating strips were approximately $600.00 a piece. We have had several visits from Wagner Mechanical for repairs and maintenance since our purchase in 2006. On our most recent maintenance check, 3/29/10, their serviceman recommended that we have electric heating strips installed. We were unaware, until that point, that this equipment had not been installed. We are unfamiliar with the technical aspects of these heating/cooling units and cannot identify these parts within the units, and hence, their omission. Several follow-up phone calls were made following this discovery. "Manuel" served as the spokesman for the manager. The response I first received was why I was bringing this problem up now, four years after installation. I was then told that the company changed owners and therefore were not responsible. Their service representative visited our house on 4/15/10 and confirmed that the heating strips were not installed. I was then informed that we do not have the necessary amperage required to have these electric heating strips installed and criticized the previous installation efforts. He claimed that the amperage needed were 70 amps per unit and that we only had 50 amps available per unit. I find this claim dubious since the electrical wiring originally was performed by an electrician recommended by Wagner Mechanical. I was offered $100.00 to avoid further incident. I informed the service representative that the list price for a Carrier OEM Heat Strip Kit 20 k.w. 239 volts single-phase unit is $344. This does not include the installation costs. No further dialogue has taken place since that discussion. I was never contacted by their manager. This company has exhibited poor customer service as well as no interest in correcting their errors.
Description of Work: Two Carrier Heat Pumps and two electric Heat Strips were purchased July, 2006. We were unaware that the job was incomplete until a service check on 3/29/10. We will not be reimbursed for the equipment paid and have been told installing these heating strips now is not possible. Other problems with this company include placing responsibility on us to have these units inspected by the state . We were later informed by the state inspector that this is the responsibility of the company. Also, a control board needed to be replaced after two years (under warranty), of which we were responsible for paying the cost of installation

We had a representative come from the company. When he showed up to our house to give us an estimate on A/C, he didn't seemed to be dressed correctly for the job of crawling into our crawl space to look at our heater. When my husband asked him if he would like to see our furnace and the location we would like our A/C, he became really offended and walk out with no explanation. Extremely unprofessional!

The serviceman arrived at 1:45 and left at 3:30 including nearly an hour when we left to get the expansion tank and including about 15 min spent pitching us to buy a $3800 water conditioning system. We paid the bill, but it seemed very high. I located the exact same 2 gal expansion tank available retail on line for $27. So the charge for the actual labor must have been about $235/hour. I called the company to ask their hourly charge for labor. The manager told me they didn't charge labor by the hour any more, they use "National Flat Rate Service Charge" and that to replace the expansion tank the charge should have been $468! Oddly, I had used this same company last April after finding it on the list and they were so good that I wrote up an A report for the list. Don't know what happened since then but I certainly won't be using them again. I'll probably be contesting the charge with the Better Business Bureau, the State Attorney, and Visa credit card.

I contacted Wagner and requested someone come out to give an estimate on a leaky ventilation duct in a commercial building. They sent someone out the next day, but once he saw the problem, he informed us that he is a plumber and did not know anything about duct work. He said he would have the person that works on ducts contact us that afternoon. We did not hear anything from them. I contacted Wagner the next day and they showed on record that we had a leaky sewer pipe. I have no idea where that came from because that is not even close to what we told them was wrong. I corrected them and they informed me they would have someone out the following Monday between 9am and 10am. Monday came and no one showed up or called from Wagner.

They scheduled my appointment right away when I called them. They sent over a specialist in boilers, not just a general plumber or heating guy. Chris showed up right on time. He was very professional and figured out the problem right away. Since he was there and had solved the problem quickly, he still had time left in the standard service call to give the boiler a thorough check-out and pre-season adjustment. Everything works fine. I couldn't be happier.

Bob Knowles came to give me an estimate. Very well dressed, polite, on time, called prior to arriving to make sure appointment was still on. Originally quoted me a lower quality of equipment, but then upgraded me to Carrier (a higher equipment grade) for the same price! The workmen arrived on time, as scheduled, clean clothes, smiling, polite and helpful. They both worked well together and made it easy for me to go about my business while they were working at my house. The staff who answer the phones at the office are really helpful and if you have a question, they will contact the service person and then call you back with an answer. I have been completely happy with the price, service and attitude of the company and would recommend them to anybody. It was so refreshing to find such good service in this town!
