+ -1 moreVery well. I have had Universal H2O systems come to my house annually to do the above work. The worker is always courteous and efficient. I really appreciate the work so that I feel more confident about having a clean and working RO system. I would recommend this company to anyone.

+ -1 moreThis company currently has a kiosk at Costco where they under the name of Ecowater Systems, offer free water analysis. They sell water softeners and water purification systems, The problem is that they will not do the work unless they can make a presentation to you and your wife. Both parties must attend the presentation or they will not do the analysis. They refused to do this for me alone even though I would be making the buying decision myself. This is surely inconsistent with Costco's policy of doing whatever is in the customer's best interest. I would not advise using their services given this attitude,

+ -1 moreSeveral months ago we had a routine service check up on our EcoWater softener. The technician said that we might need a major repair soon and to keep an eye out for leaks. We did and it did. We had an overflow of brine that spread to nearby carpeting causing a crust of salt that took a couple of visits from a professional carpet cleaner service to clean it up. When a technician came to determine the reason for the overflow, he took a few things apart and said that repairs would cost $450-500 with no explanation other than it was "worn out", but they would be happy to sell me a new unit for $4000. Since I can replace the unit locally for 15% of that price, Home Depot gets our business. My major concerns with them are that the first technician did not repair the unit when he recognized the possibility of failure and the second technician didn't offer a reason for the failure and created a new brine leak that we are dealing with until we can get the unit replaced.

+ -1 moreFor what I am paying for this "premier" watering conditioning system, I could have had a new tank less water heater and a new furnance. I would have liked to have had more time in the home to assess the water condition and researched the other companies out in the market. I feel that I have been really taken advantage. One week of living in a new house does not allow you enough time to assess everything you need to make a financial investment.
Description of Work: I answered a questionaire and was contact soon after to receive a gift card for letting Universal Water test my water. The salesman was very aggressive and after saying no to his offer and he didn't leave, I should have called the police. Since the Eco Water System has been installed, I have noticed the following. 1. It doesn't take less tea bags to brew a pot of tea. 2. The lint in my dryer is the same as before the system was installed. 3. The system does not make my drinking glasses clearer or shiner. 4. I still don't have the crystal clear ice cubes was promised. 5. Even using the Pure Life laundry detergent, the clothing is stiffer than before the conditioning system was installed and I was using Sam's Club brand detergent. Eco Water systems failed to provide me with 3 references that I could ask face to face what they thought of their Eco Water system. I've worked in government contracting for 20 years. I would never award a contract to a copy that I hadn't personally and talked with customers that had used the company before. My next issue is with the workmanship of the Eco Systems installer. The sales man told me that the conditioning system would be in stalled in the garage next to the water heater. The employee installed the system in one of the three closets I have in the house. This greatly reduces the amount of storage space in an already small house. I was promised that the water heater would be drained and flushed. The Eco Water didn't want to bother with draining the water heater because it needed to be replaced. Further more the salesman assured us that the Eco Water system would help preserve the mechanism of our evaporative cooler. However, since having the water conditioning system installed, I have learned that the evaporative cooler's manufacture specifically recommends against any soft water running in the cooler because it can cause corrosion and potassium cloride can crystalize in the pads.

+ -1 moreAfter already having spent several thousand dollars on a water filtration system (which works fine), we continued to get sales calls for new filtration tubes. The woman on the phone quoted us at $80-90.00. When the gentleman provided the service, the bill came out to over $200. Agitated, we contacted the billing department at Universal and spoke with Larry, a supervisor. He insisted that the sales reps were supposed to advise of parts as well as labor costs. Although he admitted that there may have been an oversight when it came to disclosing an accurate cost of the visit, he failed to offer any kind of concession to soften our sticker shock. Larry was also quite dismissive and fairly defensive when he spoke with my wife. She felt that Larry spoke over her and was unwilling to acknowledge his staff's error. I would not recommend Universal Water Systems to anyone that expects to know what they will pay for products or services.
Description of Work: Universal installed new filtration inserts into our sink unit, and also checked the main filtration unit.

+ -1 moreWe bought a house already equipped w/Eco water softener. Universal performed routine maintenance twice. The service price was high, but work ok. Then the unit malfunctioned. The Universal service guy did some work and handed us a $350 bill. Within 30 min of his departure, it was clear he had damaged the system and water began flooding. We called the co. and they sent someone else, who handed us another large bill. And it still wasn't fixed. We tried to find someone else to service the unit and learned that Universal is the only authorized dealer in the area and no one else can get the parts. We requested refunds for the high-priced not just worthless but damaging service calls.We replaced the unit ourselves with one from Lowes that cost less than even one repair bill from Universal/EcoWater. After reporting this to better business bureau and the state attorney general, Universal/Ecowater refunded the repair money. The replacement water softener has been working fine.

+ -1 moreWE LIKE IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SERVICE THAT YOU DO HAVE TO PAY FOR, BUT IT IS WORTH IT. THEY COME OUT AND CHECK YOU FILTERS AND BRING THE CHEMICALS NEEDED. THEY DID A GREAT JOB AT INSTALLING THE WATER SOFTENER SYSTEM.
