About us

Soilutions offers organic premium compost, topsoil , mulch, erosion control mulches, compost worms, recycling of greenwaste & food waste. Our landscape design includes premacultured design, water harvesting (swales, berms and cisterns) xeric design. Erosion control service, reclamation work, stormwater management, water catchment water conservation, and beauty. Soilutions, Inc. was formed in 1987 by Jim and Karen Brooks of Tijeras, New Mexico to design and implement permaculture landscapes. Permaculture landscapes cooperate with nature by using land, plants, animals, and humans to initiate sustainable relationships. They create sound ecological systems that are economically and biologically viable throughout time. Compost plays a pivotal role in the permaculture system by producing biological and remedial conditions that sustain the ability of the soil to support plants and animals. By establishing the Soilutions Compost Division, we are able to offer locally produced compost; “Made in the Southwest for the Southwest”. The Soilutions Compost Facility gathers and composts select organic feed stocks and provides compost, mulch, and related products to nurseries, landscapers, farmers, gardeners, and other stewards of the soil. We provide high quality products and the education and expertise to use them. We hope to enable people to restore the vitality of the soil, maximize the potential of water and live in partnership with natural processes. As an organization, we apply permaculture ideas in many ways. We encourage and facilitate the personal and professional growth of our employees by encouraging active participation in problem solving, by providing opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation and by giving honest, constructive feedback on performance. Our relationships are characterized by trust and integrity with employees and customers, responsibility in our community, and stewardship of the earth.

It was fine. They had a big dump truck and dumped the topsoil on our yard. They came on time and they didn't break anything while they were here. They were professional. They called and told us they were coming over and in 20 minutes, they were here. We did some research and they probably had the best price. We're hoping that it's worth it and our garden would start to grow.

It went great. The service is professional, and thanks to their efforts, thousands of pounds of food waste that would have normally gone to the landfill were instead turned into compost by Soilutions!

Drove pickup truck to site, topsoil was loaded into bed of truck by tractor, paid for one load (little less than one yard) of topsoil. Soilutions is a bit hard to find--there is similar company on the same road, could use better signage.

Timely delivery. Good quality soil is a requirement if you wish to garden in Albuquerque. The native soil is terrible. Soilutions did the trick. I purchased 5 yards last year with great results. Worth the cost. Happy gardening in our region requires much laborious preparation. Last year I was offered free delivery for a full truckload. This year I ordered a full truckload but free delivery was refused: Annoying. The staff was the typical Albuquerque cranky. If your not from 'querque', get used to it... My own garden is now productive enough so that I can make my own compost in sufficient quantities to allow maintenance and expansion of my fertile garden space. No need for further soil purchases.
Description of Work: Purchase and delivery of 15+ yard of compost. This is a full dump truck load, so the total amount of soil was closer to 16 yards by my wheel barrow count... The compost is advertised as organic and recycled from local sources. So I chose this company over slightly cheaper in town suppliers.
