Description of Work: Richard tuned my Steinway for about ten years, then tuned my new Yamaha grand for about a year. He was always a bit inconsistent in returning my phone calls, and since January 2014 I've been unable to make contact. I've been told by another technician that Richard has "essentially retired".

Mr. Richard Raskob was sent out to my home a couple of times by Washburn Piano Co. for periodic tunings of a piano I had purchased from them, part of our purchase agreement. I liked him so much that I have subsequently had him back for regular tunings. I had identified some minor defects with the piano with respect to touch, pedal action, tone on a couple of strings, and some squeaks and buzzes. Even though I'm relatively new to piano and did not always use correct terminology, he immediately recognized the issues I was describing and fixed the problems. He has a very good ear and I like the way the piano sounds when he is done. He dissuaded me from making some additional changes in the piano to make it mellower (voicing) and as my skills have developed, I concluded that he was right. He also did a tuning on a friend's piano that needed serious work (raise pitch, fix some bad action regulation) and did a great job. Overall, Richard is a great tech who loves his work, does it with craftsmanship, and helps you learn more about and effectively maintain your piano.

Good job for a good price, although I don't recall the exact charge.
