The end result of the patio was fairly good, but it took a lot of work on my end to get there. The owner came out and gave me a $500 estimate and then doubled it after thinking it over for the afternoon. Scheduling the job took several weeks, and the day they were supposed to come with the concrete, they didn't show at the appointed time. When I called, the owner said there had been an issue with the truck so they couldn't come that day--he didn't seem to think he needed to call and let me know, even though I had stayed home from work for the appointment. When they finally did show up for the job, the guys working on the patio trampled several plants in the back yard and left trash and cigarette butts everywhere, which they never cleaned up. They also neglected to finish areas around the edges of the patio / near the house and just left gaping holes. I had to call them about that and the owner came out and finished them by hand, but it didn't look great and didn't match the finish of the rest of the patio. Overall, pretty unprofessional.

The patio ended up looking quite nice, but they were not easy to deal with. First, he quoted me $500 for the job and then doubled that amount after thinking about it more and wouldn't meet me in the middle. It was difficult to get the job scheduled and once we did, they never showed up on the day appointed. I called and he said they'd had an issue with the cement truck--but he didn't bother to tell me this, even though I'd stayed home from work to let them in. The guys who poured the patio trampled a bunch of plants and left cigarette butts and trash in my yard. I was glad for the job to be done so i could wash my hands of them.

OK - owner was prompt in reply to deal and came out to scope job. After that point, he was difficult to reach by phone - tried to confirm the day before, as I was taking off work to be there and got no reply. He had told me it would take one day, but he only sent one worker and the large porch was only 1/2 demolished by 2 when I called him to ask about status, when he claimed it could still get it done that day, even though that was ridiculous. He said he was a man short and would send a second person the next day to finish the job. Even with the second guy on the second day, they did not start pouring concrete until about 2:30. I reminded them that I had discussed sloping away from the house with the owner and they said it was not a problem, but I think they rushed it because the outer quadrant of the porch puddled after the first rain. I sent the owner photos of the puddles and he did have them come out and replace that quadrant to make it right. I doubt that would have been done if they were not worried about this review.

Workers arrived exactly when Jim said they would, but there was confusion as to scope of the job, they thought they were only covering 2/3 of the area when all of it needed mud. So I called Jim, he came over, conferred with the guys and a new plan for full coverage was agreed upon and an extra 2 yards of Fiesta-colored mud ordered from Coyote. Work was very good, there were stress cracks from where the forms around the fireplace cleanout and gas meter, but that's to be expected. A little bit of ponding where the new concrete meets the patio, but it sure beats the loads of silt that would flow in from heavy rains.

Everything went well and the driveway looks great.
Description of Work: Current driveway was removed and hauled away. The dirt base was smoothed out and wooden forms were installed. Then the inspector (city) OK'd the work. The removal included the drive pad and sidewalk. they poured the concrete and it had to cure for a couple days. They came back and removed the wooden forms.

Excellent job! I would recommend this company to anyone. I purchased a deal through Angie's List knowing that I had more concrete to replace then was part of the deal but Jim gave me an excellent price on the remainder of the work. They showed up on time and completed the work in a timely manner. They also kept the job site clean. Would highly recommend!

The work was done very well, the job itself kept getting postponed, at least three times. I think it had something to do with the Labor Day weekend that they got behind schedule. So, it took a lot longer than I thought. They did a good job. The concrete truck got oil on my driveway and got the driveway really, really dirty. But the concrete work that they did was good.

The contractor came over to see what we wanted done. He offered suggestions, which we accepted, and he left after giving us the estimate and the day he would be back to do the actual work. On the day we were expecting him, he showed up on time and went right to work. The patio looks great and the price was very reasonable and the contractor was very professional. I'm already planning another concrete job and I will definitely be calling Pyramid Concrete Contractors to do the job!!

My bottom line advice to others is this: if you don't care about the concrete company treating your property respectfully, then this company is fine. If you care about your property, definitely choose a different concrete contractor. The concrete work itself looks fine but it was not worth all the property issues. When they suddenly came after 2 months of waiting, the guys who showed up said that they did not have a functioning wheelbarrow and needed to borrow ours. Really? Use the customer's wheelbarrow for concrete work? My husband was tired of waiting for the work to be done, so he lent them ours. After pouring the concrete they washed the wheelbarrow out in our backyard, right over the root zone of a newly planted tree - leaving a large area of concrete slurry in the garden. I had to repeatedly contact Jim, asking to have this concrete hauled away. When they finally came, instead of carting it off they smashed it all into small pieces and mixed it in with the garden soil. I was really surprised to see what they had done and the guy waved off my concerns, telling me that what he did is fine. Hmmmm...it's only fine if you value crappy quality concreted garden soil. When they pulled their forms they tossed the nails all over the backyard, even though our toddlers clearly play in the backyard. No one wants their child, dog, friend or self to step on rusty nails cast all over the yard. We spent a long time picking them all up as soon as we saw them. Their quote included bringing in fill dirt to level the area before pouring the concrete, but they didn't bring any. They dug a hole in our backyard for the fill dirt. The quote also included removing and hauling away some sod, but they just dumped it in our backyard instead of hauling it away. I did get them to come back and haul the sod away. From the time the job was bid, it took almost two months for the work to be performed and communication from Jim was terrible. I told Jim I expected a bill adjustment for the quoted work that was not performed. He took $100 + the tax off the bill for the work that wasn't performed. Unfortunately there's no compensation possible for the rest of the headaches involved. We are happy to never have to deal with this company again.

We made every effort to satisfy the customer for this job, we left the yard in better shape than when we started the job, the yard was in bad shape & had broken pieces of cinder block everywhere. I gave them a discount because we didn't bring any fill dirt, we cleaned every bit of concrete wash out that we left behind. The husband even commented that he was impressed with the leveling job we did, as far as the quality of the work goes, both husband & wife said it looked good. We strive to provide 100% satisfaction to all of our customers, please be sure to read our many A rated reviews.

We bought the deal off Angie's List and Jim from Pyramid Concrete emailed within 24 hours with his phone number and asked us to call him. We did so and his reply was prompt. He said the work would be done in about two weeks. We called him two weeks later on Tuesday to see where we stood and were told they'd be out the next day to pour the concrete! There was no warning to allow us to be off work. A man came at 8:00 the next morning, asked where we wanted the pad poured and said the concrete would get there about 12:30. Turns out, it arrived at 10:00. My husband left work to try and be there, but the men were done and gone before he could get home. It has been two weeks since the concrete was poured and no one has contacted us or come back to check on the work! The forms are still there and they rinsed there equipment out in the yard leaving a concrete slurry behind. It looks like a good job, but the lack of communication was incredible! Update: After writing the review, Jim called, apologized, and sent a man out the next morning to clean up. I truly appreciated his concern and responsiveness. Lesson learned: communication (or lack thereof) can go both ways!

contractor looked at proposed job and gave hard estimate. workers removed and hauled off existing gravel ground cover and leveled area. workers placed numerous forms for both odd-shaped pours. this took two days: time was reasonable for the work. Two days later concrete truck arrived as scheduled and concrete was pumped into the forms, carefully finished including agreed-on slate-like pattern. Concrete was colored green-slate as agreed. forms were removed two days later (to allow for cure time) and hauled off. Remaining debris and gravel was hauled off and area properly cleaned. Contractor was courteous and helpful and returned all my calls. Contractor suggested both pattern and color which are very nice. All in all, a big job excellently done.

What they did yesterday was fine. They had to take out hat they did the first time because I wasn't satisfied with it. They were to put in ta sidewalk that was called exposed aggregate. It didn't turn out very well and the owner agreed. I'm definitely satisfied with what they've done. They just put in regular concrete this time so it looks real nice. The best part was their responsiveness too.

Had a bit of a hard time scheduling even though the job was paid for through Angies List. Once figured out, the crew was efficient and professional. They were easy to work with following curves in the slab that I wanted and matched them up pretty well. One slab is graded towards the house planter, we will see how that works out on the next big rain? May need to correct it. Otherwise, very happy. Came the next morning and removed the forms.

The estimate appointment was done promptly. We waited a couple of weeks due to rain. One the first clear day, the contractor was at my home early morning. The job was completed by one person in one day. I was very impressed with the good work. However it started to rain just as the job was completed so they had to put plastic over the concrete - Unfortunately it was done the day before the Memorial Day Weekend and I ended up having to wait all weekend before the plastic was removed. After I called them to remind them, they were there promptly. It was a terrific price for a good job.
