OSUNA NURSERY & LANDSCAPING

We purchased a planter and, as soon as we paid for it and started to load it on a little cart to transport it to the car, we noticed a large chip at the bottom and this had not been visible given the way the planter had been placed in the display area. Specifically we had not seen this defect because the side with the chip missing had been turned to the wall. We showed it to the cashier who told us he could not give us a refund because he "already rang up the purchase." We spoke with a manager who offered to take $30 off the price and we agreed to that; we were happy with this and thought that reducing the price by $30 was a fair resolution. However, the cashier entered store credit rather than cancelling the original charge to our credit card and then ringing up the new price with the $30 off. When we asked that the manager's offer be honored, we were told that the person who could do that would call us back on Monday (it was Saturday) and take care of it. Well, no one called Monday, Tuesday, etc. We called the following Friday and, after more waiting for call backs, were told it was "impossible" to get the $30 off the price (or any refund) even though the side of the planter with the defect had been turned to the wall and was not visible and we had not even taken the planter out of the check-out area, much less off the premises. In other words, we were told that companies cannot credit money back to a credit card and then ring up a new price. We knew that was false because such has happened at other companies when we have returned items. Not only was our intelligence insulted, but it was among the worst customer service I've seen in Abq. Abq has several nurseries and we will go elsewhere from this point forward. Beware and look closely at any purchase because if you there is a defect and you don't see it before they ring it up, you are on the hook and will get at most "store credit" not a refund even if the item has not even been taken to the care yet.

When we went to the nursery to pick out a tree, the worker there was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The clerks inside wee okay, but it was hard to hear them because of the high noise level inside. They told us the tree would be delivered on Monday morning, and we were the third deliver for the day. Monday we stayed home all day so we could be there when they arrived. At 4:00 pm I called the nursery to inquire about the delivery, and I was put on hold for 10 minutes, and then disconnected. I called again, and was told they had to contact the delivery team and would call me back. A few minutes later the deliver team called and said they had called "a couple" times, and when we didn't answer, assumed we weren't home. In fact, the only time they called was at 4:01, when I was on hold with the nursery. They finally showed up shortly after the call. I had had a mimosa tree removed a week earlier, leaving the hole ready for the tree. They first planted the tree six inches below ground level, and I had to request they raise it to ground level. I also had to ask them to replace the dirt that had been carefully piled on tarps when the other tree was removed, and to replace the tree ring that was lying there. I noticed that one of the branches on the new tree had been broken in transit, but was so unhappy with the process I decide to just let it go so we could prepare for dinner. I am extremely displeased with the customer service and the lack of responsiveness from the people at Osuna. If we ever go back there, we will only do so if what we are buying is something we can carry with us and plant ourselves.

Very pleasant and chatty man arrived on time but knew less about plants in New Mexico than I did--by a lot--design ideas only included moving railroad ties but not suggestions of plantings or groupings of plants. He did not have any recommendations about the plants that were already here, and in fact didn't recognize most of them, though rather than admit that, he guessed. He promised to send an overall plan, as we had discussed it and list of plant recommendations, but week later I received state published list of xeric plants--not worth $95, since I'd already picked up a copy for free. I actually submitted this review once already, but maybe on the wrong Angie's List account. Went back months later and my review was posted, but no response from Osuna.

Store staff very helpful in picking out trees....knowledgeable and responsive. Three man installation team took only 2.5 hours to install all 18 trees. Courteous, responsive....cleaned up very well . Overall a great job.

The staff at Osuna are usually very helpful and knowledgeable about their plants. Though it is one of the pricier nurseries in Albuquerque, the trees and flowers are usually of higher quality than most places, especially Home Depot or Lowes. They also sell excellent potting soil and fertilizer as well as gardening accessories such as hoses, sprayers, tools, etc. I have not used Osuna for landscaping, but as a nursery, they are great.

Had a very nice conversation as we walked around the garden, but consultant seemed unfamiliar with many of the plants we had, and wasn't able to give solid recommendations on winter watering. He also didn't comment on the heavy plastic that was strangling our trees in the front yard: it took a tree trimmer to notice that. He had some very good ideas for plant locations and relocations, but promised to send a list of plant suggestions and overview of the things we had discussed. Three weeks later, I received a copy of an official New Mexico govt. list of xeri-graphic plants, and that was it.

We picked up the finished product about a week later and were dismayed that the repotting included a rearrangement of the plants ( There were three varieties arranged in one pot). We felt that the rearrangement was not as nice as we were used to and definitely not wanted or requested. We brought the plant back fairly soon and expressed our disappointment. We were treated with great courtesy and respect and the manager was able to undo the unwanted changes while we waited (about 10 minutes). We were thrilled to have this job done the way we wanted and we are impressed with the courtesy and expertise provided to us. We found the price to be very reasonable and would not hesitate to use this provider again.

Awful, just awful. We booked with them in early June with Michael, who was very helpful and had great ideas and input. He showed us pics from his own wedding and we were impressed. We gave the deposit and thought we were good to go. Got a call last week asking us to come in to finalize details. When we got there the (very self impressed) and quot;head designerand quot;, Jason, proceeded to tell us he couldn't use the teal and coral colors we had chosen without it looking and quot;cheapand quot;. For $225 for the bridal bouquet alone you'd think there would be no way it would look and quot;cheapand quot;. It's a September wedding in New Mexico and teal and coral will be fabulous!!! Then he asked to see a pic of the wedding dress and he said, and I quote, and quot;that's cute. she's cute. but we will need to do something with the flowers to make her look elegantand quot;. Slap. Right in the face of my beautiful little bride-to-be! So now her color choice AND her dress were beneath him. He made a point to brag about his award winning designing in San Francisco (so you'd think Albuquerque would be a no-brainer for him). And he made a big deal out of spending an hour consulting with us at no charge (which, by the way, oh guru of flower design, your website states your consultations are free). THEN...he proceeded to tell us that he couldn't even do the flowers for the tables at what we were quoted! And we had signed the contract and put money down on the package! So I asked him how much more per table and he said at least $35 each and that they and quot;wouldn't even look goodand quot;. Yes. Not making this up. Not looking good isn't quite what we were shooting for. He jumped at the chance to give me my money back. I think that was the plan all along. The new guy didn't know what he was doing and the and quot;head designerand quot; couldn't deliver so they just wanted us out of there. Say so and don't waste my time! And be offended like I'm wasting your time?!!! Sheesh! Sweet little (gorgeous!) bride in tears heading to the car. My hubby said they should honor the original quote but there is NO WAY I would trust this guy to do a good job. I'm so glad to have found out ahead of time who we were dealing with. Don't bother wasting your time with wedding flowers from Osuna Nursery. Total waste of time. Two months down the drain. Insulted to say the least. I honestly looked around for hidden cameras, it was THAT bad.

I asked two individuals questions about two different plants. Neither could answer my questions so I did not buy either plant. Instead I bought a plant I had researched myself. This nursery sells many plants that will not grow in New Mexico. By offering them for sale there is an implication that they will grow. I worked in a nursery at one time and by far the customers were beginning growers. They relied on us to give them good plants and good advice. Osuna has never offered this to me.

We had a simply wonderful experience and the selection of plants/trees/shrubs/garden decorations was incredible. We're going back.

They have a decent selection of plants, and I have purchased many shrubs from them. They are expensive if you cannot go wholesale. They push the plants regardless of obvious disease. I was not happy with that. Fortunately, as a botanist, I knew a thing or two about trees, otherwise I would have wasted my money.

THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB OF LANDSCAPING WAS DONE TO MY YARD. THEY WERE PROMPT, COURTEOUS AND VERY INFORMATIVE ON WHAT WAS TO BE DONE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.
