Had an appointment scheduled for July 28. The repairman NEVER showed up. When I called Mechanical Control Solutions no one gave me a straight answer, all I got was a lot of time "on hold" and run around. They promised to call me back in a few minutes but never did.

I had just about given up on trying to find someone to install a water heater, so I decided to go through Home Depot's contractor service. They referred me to MCS for the install. I was contacted the very next morning. I had to send a few photos of my current heater. They gave me the price over the phone, which they honored. I had to pay a little extra to bring everything up to code. The tech (who never told me his name) was very professional, cleaned up after himself, and, as far as I can tell, did not damage anything else in the process. He explained what I needed to know about my new heater. I'm enjoying not running out of hot water when I shower!

We had an issue with our A/C unit (refrigerant & wiring) and Joseph, our tech, was extremely knowledgeable and professional and quickly resolved the problem. Ian McKeller, the GM, also took a personal interest in the issue and came to our home to ensure repairs were done quickly and satisfactorily. We appreciate their quick response.

All went well... mostly... They were scheduled to arrive at 10:00 and they were late. It is all good, though, because they contacted me and let me know what was going on. When they did arrive (at the altered arrival time) they got right to work, paid close attention to keeping a clean work environment and were quite professional. The first minor problem arose when they un-crated the water heater and it had a major dent. They gave me the opportunity to "accept" it, or get another. Because we live in the Albuquerque area, and I knew that there were some available at HD, i said that I did not want the dented one, and get another. It took some time, but they did, and without argument. Because of the change, it did extend the installation but it was not a major problem. Another issue was they were to install a 1/4 turn ball valve for the evaporative cooler, and did not have in with them. The plumber doing the install said he would get one, and come back and change it. It has now been several weeks, and I have not heard any more from them. The last issue was when the RR inspector came out, they had only gotten one permit, but the work involved 2. The inspector went ahead and certified the installation and said he would contact them. Although this might seem to be a negative review, it is not. I have been involved with several construction projects through my life, and i never expect them to go as planned. MCS was very professional and efficient and did the work well. I am quite pleased with my new furnace and water heater, and would wholly recommend them (as well as Home Depot!). Once the valve has been replaced, I will be 100% satisfied.
Description of Work: When I was researching who to use to replace my furnace and water heater, I contacted Home Depot among others. HD referred e to MCS and i contacted them. In the process, I checked Angie's list for a review, as well as the BBB. I got a total of 4 quotes, and MCS was the least, and offered exactly what I needed. One aside, I now feel that many of the HVAC companies are very similar to used car salesmen, but that is another story!. Back to installation. I contacted MCS and they arranged to have the work done the next day, This was somewhat more involved because I was replacing 2 different appliances: The furnace and the Water Heater. The quote involved removing both appliances, putting a new floor in the furnace closet, bringing all up to code, and enlarging the return air vent.

worthless, 9 hours wasted waiting for these flim flams
Description of Work: What a worthless company. Anyone who uses them directly or thru Home Depot should have their head examined. They installed a water heater ordered thru Home Depot. They came next day, I am sure so they would get paid. They call me on 10/31 to schedule an inspection. I had to be here all day between 8 and 5 because they could not give a window; imagine that in 2017. It is 6 o'clock and no one showed up. I called their customer service at 4:20 to make sure they were still coming. The CS rep said that that the Installation Dept was busy, she took my phone and address and said they would call me as soon as they got off the phone. And guess what no one phoned. I will not answer anything from this company, no phone calls, nothing until they pay me $135 based on 9 hours wasted at a rate of $15 per hour. If we have to go to court regarding the inspection let's go, I would love the public acknowledgment of your total lack of service and hear how you explain this to a judge. I will make sure I spread this on every social media known to man

they installed the wrong unit which we didn't find out about until we tried to get the PNM rebate. After having to complain all the way up to Costco Corporate, they finally put the right unit in. The installation was terrible and didn't pass city inspection 3 times. Then we found out they didn't install the drain correctly so it flooded under our house. Then they had to completely reinstall the entire unit. We're at year three and there are still problems. Do NOT use this company!

Was told that if he didn't hear from me by Saturday he would call me Monday to finalize proposal. Well with 3 kids playing sports on a Saturday I was unable to call him on Saturday and thought I would let him call me back Monday. I never got a call. So I called on Tuesday, he was a the Dr. with his wife and would call me back. I told him that I understood and would wait for a call back. Never heard back.

First, I did not seek MCS to install my air conditioner, MCS was recommended by Home Depot at the time I purchased a new air conditioner unit. I was contacted by MCS and scheduled the installation for the following week. I was told the installation time was between 3-5pm, however, the installers called me at 6:45pm and stated that they were still needing to pick up my air conditioner and materials from Home Depot, they showed up at 7:15pm… 4 hours and 15 minutes late! Only for them to tell me that they would not be able to install my air conditioner because the flashing needed to be replaced but they did not have the materials to do so until the next day. Plus, they wanted to charge me an additional $550.00 to do so. I was left without an air conditioner when temperatures were in the 100’s with two small children in my house until the next day. Once the installation was done, the installers left my old air conditioner unit, all the cardboard boxes, hoses, the old flashing, and other trash in my back yard. The following day, which was a Friday, I spoke with the installation manager, who assured me the trash would be picked up either Saturday or Monday morning, it was not. The trash is still in my back yard on the following Wednesday. This same installation manager was supposed to schedule the inspection for a specific day, that was not done either. So, because of MCS and their lack of communication in their scheduling department, customer service, and managers, I have now missed 3 days of work in order to be home for their services to be completed (half-assed, might I add). And, I have to miss a 4th day of work for the inspectors to be scheduled (again) to inspect the unit (I will not be surprised if it fails inspection). I have never dealt with such rude, irresponsible, and unprofessional people in my life. From the installers being rude and having no concept of time, the supervisors and managers not taking responsibility for their errors in scheduling or the behavior of their employees (but had the audacity to ask that I give the company a good review in exchange for the installers to replace the flashing, which is part of their job). To the General Manager, Sandy Adams, (whom I spoke with about all the issues I encountered) brushing it off as if this horrible experience was no big deal. Sure, I was offered a year of service, but honestly, I want nothing more to do with this company and will not allow another MCS employee on my property again. I only wished I would have read the MCS’ reviews prior to allowing them to schedule the install of my air conditioner because I would have never given them my business, considering all the negative feedback their other customers have experienced. Would never recommend anyone use MCS for any installations, repairs, or services!

went great, they called to confirm prior to the planned date and when we had rain and snow, we rescheduled out one week. Sales representative agreed to let me talk to their estimator and get a ball-park estimate of the work to be done. I had all necessary measurements and specifications that were needed to make an estimate. After being given a very competitive estimate over the phone, I scheduled an appointment with the estimator to see the actual job. He arrived on time and inspected the furnace and said he could do the job for the price quoted on the phone. An electrician, plumber, and sheet metal worker arrived on time, with the right supplies and furnace and completed the work in about 4 hours. Everything was done exceptionally well and the site was left very clean. All operating instructions were described and my questions were answered very professionally. Their estimate was as good or better than competitors and what convinced us to go with MCS was they used a Lennox furnace.

The best is that they take your phone calls and they schedule appointments but the worse is it's like usually two weeks out and they don't give specific time they give you, they do like the cable people they'll tell you it be sometime between eight and noon or one to five and your sitting around waiting on them and then they call you and tell you oh we're gonna be a little late and your like oh that's half hour ago and half the days there. They are very professional they put like when they come over they put like booties on their feet and stuff so that they don't track any outside dirt and they let you know exactly what they'll gonna be doing how long it will take once they get here they're pretty good about that.

The gentleman who came out, Freddy, was professional and helped me understand what happens when the power goes out then surges when it restarts. The compressor is running again and the house is cooling down. We will use Mechanical Control Solutions again!
Description of Work: We had a very brief power outage on July 14, 2016. When the power came back on my a/c unit's fan came back on but the compressor did not. As the temperature in the house rose (it was 97 outside) and our humble attempts at restarting the compressor continued to fail, I called Mechanical Control Solutions. They were so very helpful and friendly. Someone came out in about an hour and checked everything out.

BEST experience I've ever had with any type of contractor! They arrived on time, and were very professional. If they had any problems with my older house's plumbing or anything, I didn't hear about it. They were quick & I think my utility room was cleaner when they left than when they arrived! The supervisor came by a little while after they left just to make sure everything went well, and the inspector who came out said they did a great job. I have never seen a company work so hard to make sure the customer was happy. The price was a little higher than the other bids I got, but I feel the peace of mind that I have that the job was done well & they will stand behind the work is worth it.

The thermostat on my gas furnace "died" in the evening (of course!) and there was no way to manually turn on the furnace. Last year I had used an Angie's List furnace tune-up special from MCS and it went very well so I called MCS the next day to get a new thermostat. I spoke with Sarah who said she would have to call me back in a few minutes to let me know when she could get an electrician to my house. After 3 hours I phoned her again and she sounded as if she forgot about me but said she would get back to me in a few minutes. I waited until the next morning to hear from her but realized that she was not going to call me back. I then called another company who immediately scheduled me for the afternoon. It is now 2 days later and MCS has still not called me back. I will never call them again - their customer service is poor. Too bad -- the service tech last year was very good.
Description of Work: Provider never called me back, so nothing was done. I had wanted a new thermostat for my furnace installed.

My house is a 1957 flat roof home 1900sf on concrete slab with evap cooling with single output in hallway and three wall heaters and was purchased 1 month before my quote. Part of the sale was that a new MasterCool unit with 12" media be installed when I moved in, it still had difficulties cooling the whole home.. They first rescheduled my appointment due to a "company party" and the saleslady was almost a half hour late. I have been reading up on possible options for updating my defunct systems. My first option I asked about was mini-splits, the lady was not knowledgeable at all and first said mini split would not be an option for my home at all. The second option she gave me was to put a furnace/refrigerated air unit on top of the house with all ductwork exposed. The estimate she gave me was 10k for ductwork, 11k for the unit, and 3k to upgrade my 60amp service box to 200amps. She then went back and said mini splits might work and measured my home again. She said that I needed a head in every single room of the home (6 total) and 3 condensers at a cost of 17k (including 3k for service panel). The next option she suggested was a BreezAir evap unit to replace the 30 day old mastercool and move the mastercool to the front part of the house. This option was $5200 for the breezair and $2000 to cut the downdraft and move the mastercool to the front room. I then asked about an option of dropping the ceiling in the hallway where the current AC vents and a single runner to the front part of the home and adding a furnace in a hall closet (a neighbor with the same floorplan as my home had this done 2 years ago by another tender loving caring Plumbing/HVAC company in Albuquerque. She said there is no way that could be possible. She left me with my quotes and informed me she was late for lunch with a friend and that was that. I received a call from MCS about 2 weeks later asking me what and how much I was quoted and informed me that the saleslady that came to my home no longer worked for the company and they would like to re quote. I told them I wasn't interested after how lousy and unknowledgeable the last person was and the egregious quotes I was given. They assured me a manager who had 20+ years in the industry would be doing the quote. I agreed and set an appointment. 3 days before they were to come again I was hospitalized with meningitis and did not have access to my phone and missed the confirmation calls for the appointment. I called back after the appointment would have happened and apologized them and informed them I was in the hospital and did want the manager to still come to my home. the person I spoke with was extremely condescending, doubted that I was in the hospital, and said the manager was no longer able to do the quote but they could send someone else out. I let her know I was no longer interested in the quote and again apologized for the missed appointment. Their customer service and sales was terrible I can't imagine what their service people are like.

Every detail of the contract was adhered to--they did a perfect installation and within the projected timeframes. They followed through on all their promises. I met with Tony for the first time a week before I signed the contract and everything was done in less than 2 days from start to finish. His employees, Jeff Moreno and Adrian Traviso were outstanding. They handled the installation from start to finish and coordinated the removal of the old equipment with another employee. Everything was fast and professional. It was a flawless installation and we couldn't be more pleased. They cleaned up everything before they left and were so professional. I would highly recommend them and was so happy with my dad's installation that I am going to have them replace both my AC/Furnaces within the next couple of months. I have already highly recommended this company to my neighbors who were also impressed with the feedback that I provided them about Mechanic Control Solutions.

The lady of the house saw a display by Mechanical Control Solutions (MCD) in Costco and requested they make a proposal to replace our second-floor swamp cooler with refrigerated air. Their representative, Anthony, appeared within two minutes of the appointed time last Friday. He is very knowledgeable and a great salesman! We agreed to purchase a Lennox system that was a Costco special at the time, to be installed the following Tuesday. The installers (Luis, Luis, and Julian) showed up at 9 AM and worked until 6:30 PM, completing the installation in one day. They were cheerful, courteous, and (as far as possible, given the nature of the work) unobtrusive. At the end of the day they left our house as clean as they found it. The quality of the work is first-rate. Although our house has no attic or crawl space, Luis managed to route the HVAC lines through a raceway that is almost invisible on the house, and Julian tucked the electric conduit nearly out of sight. The product is neat and well-finished. So far as we could tell, the team took no short cuts and did not skimp (using 8 gauge wire, for example, when 10 gauge would have met code requirements.) The installation appears to work very well; the furnace and A/C condenser unit are very quiet. Our experience is at odds with the negativity expressed by many others on Angie's List. We do not know how MCS could have done better for us and recommend them without reservation.
