+ 1 moreI’ve hired Ken before on electrical projects including installing new wiring and lighting for my kitchen and hanging new light fixtures and fans. This time he installed new electrical service. He ran new circuit for the furnace/air conditioning unit, including hooking up the new unit. Before the job, he explained everything involved including time frame, inspections, etc. He does an excellent job. I never have to be concerned about having the job done correctly and on time. I guess others are in agreement; he got a “mention” in the 2016 Albuquerque Journal’s Peoples Choice Awards list.
Description of Work: electrical for new furnace/central air unit and fix other minor miscellaneous issues

+ -1 moreKen made suggestions for new recessed kitchen lighting. He was spot on with placement. The kitchen looks great and has been transformed from dim light and shadows to a kitchen where you can see what you're doing. He installed new fixtures and fixed fans that were noisy/not working well. He also noticed a bathroom switch that needed to be brought up to code. Ken is very conscientious and does a thorough job. This is the second time I've hired him. And of course whenever I need electrical work done, I will again hire him.
Description of Work: Installed recessed lighting in both new construction and existing site. Wired for new light fixtures and installed new fixtures. Installed dimmers. Repaired bathroom fans. Replaced ceiling light/fans with other fixtures.

+ 0 moreOne pair of fluorescent bulbs in a kitchen overhead light fixture stopped working. We scheduled an appointment with Ken and talked some about the problem that we were having. He knew exactly what the issue was and arrived with the parts necessary to fix the problem. He was in and out very quickly, and left a clean area. Very professional and knowledgeable. We will certainly call him the next time we required electric work done.
Description of Work: Replaced the ballasts and bulbs in a old fluorescent light fixture.

At that time he also gave us a heads up about the possibility of needing to replace the old dimmer for an LED dimmer for our new dining room light fixture. Based on both his knowledge and his prices, we hired Ken. We are extremely happy with the work that he performed. He showed up on time. He positioned the dining room light and the new ceiling fan for us before doing the installation to ensure that both fixtures were at the height that we wanted. He was prepared and had everything with him needed to complete the job. He also spent the time demonstrating the new light dimmer and explaining how to set the new fan remote control, including for additional fans. Ken did a very thorough job and our new fixtures look great! We will definitely refer him to our friends and hire him again for any of our electrical needs.

+ 1 moreFantastic- Ken first came and gave us a quote for the work. We'd had several other electricians look at our living room and all wanted to tear out a bunch of drywall, run wires behind the wall and then use wire conduit to reach the middle of our exposed wood ceiling. Ken, unlike the other electricians, was willing to look into whether it'd be possible to fish a wire above the ceiling to the spots we wanted to add track lighting. He quickly figured out that it was possible- saving us lots of money and damage to our walls. Ken added the ceiling lights and fan enclosures perfectly, quickly and on budget in our three bedrooms. He walked me through how to install the fixtures we'd not yet purchased and happily answered some extra questions I had after-the-fact. Ken also installed two rows of track lighting, taking as much care in his work as I imagine he would working on his own house. He spent extra time making sure the tracks were straight and that our pendant lamps aligned just right..
Description of Work: Ken removed wall sconces in three bedrooms and fished wires for lights + ceiling fans in those same rooms. He added outlet boxes into the ceiling. Ken also installed 2 rows of track lighting and a 3 pendant monorail fixture

Ken has a vast amount of experience and was the right choice to help me replace the original electrical system from 1957. He replaced the the old 60 amp service with 220 amp and the breaker panel. He installed outlets and light fixtures in the garage, installed an outlet in the bathroom, and a thermostat for the cooler. He kept coming across multiple spliced wires and open j- boxes in the attic space and fixed everything up to code. He was prompt, professional and great to work with. The price was extremely reasonable and I had expected to pay much more than I did. I have already given 4 people his number and will definitely use his services again. If you are looking for an honest, fair, expert electrician, don't bother looking further. Call Ken!

+ 1 moreI chose Ken based on Angies reviews. And I'm glad. There are so many good things about Ken. Honest, fair, courteous, very knowledgeable, creative problem solver. I felt he was very trustworthy and respectful, which is important to me as a woman dealing with tradesmen. He worked with me to find solutions that I was comfortable with. I will definitely work with him again for other projects.
Description of Work: Ken helped me go through a newly purchased old house to evaluate quirks that needed some attention. I had never owned a house and he was very helpful in teaching me what is electrically safe. There were some code violations fixed. Some dangerous ceiling fans discovered and replaced. Installed outside outlet. Moved a few outlets to better locations. Removed old wall heaters no longer needed. Ken offered excellent "work-around" suggestions to improve old house issues such as ungrounded outlets and low ceilings.

+ 1 moreThe owner, Ken Kerbo, performed the work, and wired multiple rooms and installed ceiling fans and lighting. He navigated our attic space as necessary and essentially made it all come together. He was very professional and pleasing and did not complain when asked to redo other options for completed work. All-in-all, the kind of contractor that is responsive to the customer. His reputation precedes him, and he was recommended to us. We are not disappointed. Others may be cheaper, but his work and attitude would be hard to beat. You pay for what you get, and he is the best in skill and his many years of knowledge. He gave us exactly what we wanted. We would hire him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Services performed included wiring 6 rooms for central lighting and controls. Improved garage rewiring, fixture and fan placements, and miscellaneous replacement of switches, outlets, bathroom fans. K&J also installed exterior porch and exterior garage lighting.

+ -1 more.I would have little or nothing to add, as I said it all above. We were present for all work, and met and talked to inspectors and power company employees, all with out exception have good thing to say about his work.
Description of Work: Mr.KERBO, Owner and Electrician for K & J Electric, gave us an estimate for a complete rewire and upgrade of a 56 year old home. The home was just as it was built 56 years ago, with very few out lets in the two bedroom home. The home had all two prong plugs thur out the whole home. The Breaker Box was the original 60 amp rating as it was built, and did not handle the load of a Electrical Dryer, computer, etc.His original estimate was $3579.00. After he started work on the rewire and expansion which took about three days, not including the cut off of electricity by the power company and the reconnect by the power company, and all inspections. We add a number of new outlet in all the rooms. We went from 60 amps box to over 200 amps with fault interrupters in the bath, kitchen, computer room and garage. The meter was relocated as to code, and all wiring was relocated to the new Breaker Box. Mr. KERBO, was always on time when he was to be at the house, his work was professional, clean without a problem, with us or the power company and inspectors. We added a number of outlets and relocation of the Dryer and Washer after the work started, which we were told what it would cost. Mr. KERBO did not charge what he could have and still came in under the next two bidders, who by the way were not even close to his bid. While Mr. KERBO (K & J Electric) was not on "Angies List", but, he is listed with four or five good reviews. This man knows what he is doing, is good at what he does. I highly recommend his company.
