Chip went bad in projection TV causing spots to show up on the screen. I did some research and noticed there was a recall. Mitsubishi was charging 200.00 to put it in and they would only sell the chip to a dealer. Mitsubishi was being problematic and they wanted a copy of the receipt. Hugo assisted me with working with Mitsubishi. They finally gave him the chip and we watched him install it. The service with Hugo's TV Repair was great along with the price. I would use Hugo's TV Repair again and recommend their service.
Description of Work: They replaced a chip in my Mitsubishi rear projection TV.

Hugo did confirm what we thought as soon as we turned the TV on and he saw the "blue blob". He said that he would take the TV with him and try and find the part to fix it. We said OK. He had us sign a sheet that said that the repair could cost from $850 - $1200. The part cost almost $1500 new. After just one day, he reported that he found a supplier that rebuilds parts for Televisions that are no longer available and he had this particular part, rebuilt. He said that the supplier offered a 6 month warranty on the part and that he would match that and offer a 6 month warranty on his labor. He quoted a total of about $820.00 for the part ant the labor. We said, great ... go for it. The part was sent and arrived some 5 or so days latter and Hugo called to say that, unfortunately the part did not work properly. He was talking to the company and that they told him to ship it back and they would send him another one. That is exactly what happened. Five to six days latter, Hugo called to say that the part arrived and worked perfectly. He would deliever the TV the next day after he watched it to make sure it was all OK. The next day he delivered the television with three extra sets of hands to move it into place (it is HUGE and HEAVY). When I tuned on the TV, I was simply amazed! Not only was the "blue blob" gone, but the TV picture was (in my opinion) even BETTER than it was before the problem. I am TOTALLY pleased with the quality of the repair and with the professional and courteous service I received from Hugo. I am hoping, of course, that the good quality continues as it has only been a few hours since we got the TV back, but so far so good and I will edit my review if anything changes. I HIGHLY recommend this Great TV Repair service. Great job, Hugo!
Description of Work: I have a Sony XDF70XBR950 70 inch LCD HD Projection Television that I purchased brand new in December of 2003. I paid almost $8,000 for the TV and about $1000. for the stand. It was one of the first HD big screen television that Sony and the rest of the market put out and it has been a WONDERFUL televisino with a GREAT picture. We replaced the lamp on the television (which we have done on 3 different occations) and then noticed a big blue blob on the lower left side of the screen. At first we thought that it was a defect in the new bulb, so we exchangedit for another one. The blue bolb was still there, and in fact, it was larger. Then we began reading the blogs on Sony Big Screen televisions and learned that this was a defect that they admited in about 2006 or '07. Sony was actually replacing the light engine for free for a while, but that all ended in 2010. we missed the exchange! We called around to try and buy the part, but found out that they no longer make it! There were no parts around and NO repair shops in Albuquerque would touch fiixing it without being able to order the part. I checked ALL the sources I could on the Internet and I could find no part that anyone had in stock. I tried one last repair shop, Hugo's TV Repair, and Hugo said that he was familiar with the problem and he would check his sources to see if he could find the part. He would charge $35.00 to come out to Rio Rancho and diagnosis the problem and pick the TV up and then deliver it once it was fixed, and he would quote me a price for the repair and the part, if he could find it. So, we had Hugo come out for $35.00 and see what he thought ...
