HOOVER'S AIR DUCT CLEANING

I was given an exact quote and treated most courteously. I will use this company again.

The end result was as desired: my husband's allergies definitely improved after having the air ducts cleaned. I also appreciated the 25% off from Angie's list. I had three complaints, which I posted. I have to admit that I was impressed that Marshall called the very next day to address them. A large part of the problem was due to my husband, who is rather home-fix-it challenged (which he freely admits) and did not convey the information/explanation to me that Marshall provided him. I'm including my original comment and then my updated information in bold italics--which might be of use to other consumers. I see Marshall also provides his explanation below. 1. The service guy persuaded my husband (I was not home at the time) to add a dryer vent cleaning for $50 but the dryer was less than 6 months old. I don't think it was needed. The cleaning is of the vent going up to the roof--which definitely needed cleaning after 4 years of use--and not the dryer itself. The regular price is $95 and requires the service guy get up on the roof. This prevention for fire definitely was worth $50. 2. Plus--it was about 3 months later that I happened to look up into the air vents and notice that filters were missing--3 small ones in the bedrooms and 1 main 20x20. I don't know if my husband was alerted that he needed to replace them--but we had been using air conditioning and later heat without them for that period--probably undoing the duct cleaning to some extent. I would expect a professional service would replace those filters if they take them out. Something I did not know: it is preferable to place a filter in the air unit itself and not have one there and in the return air filters in the rooms--which can stress the air furnace by inhibiting air flow. 3. Finally, as I look at the invoice I see that we paid $20 for a "washable filter"--but there were no filters in any of the vents. It is in the furnace itself. Now I know it is there and we need to clean it every one and a half month or so. One reason Marshall prefers this method over the vent filters is that it is easier to reach and clean versus having to use a ladder to get to the ceiling filters. It is also less expensive. I agree there-I have to order the 10x10s over the internet and they run about $5 each. Now that I understand what ocurred, I would recommend Hoovers and use them again. My ratings have been updated to reflect this change.

We were favorably impressed with these workers and would use them again. They were here about two hours.

Since I was having a new furnace installed, I had all air ducts and dryer vent cleaned. Hoover's arrived on time, cleaned the ducts as well as the vent covers. They finished in the estimated 2-3 hrs., and cleaned up before leaving. Very happy with the work done. Clothes dry more quickly since the dryer vent was cleaned.

They were thorough and professional. They brought three gentlemen, who worked diligently to clean all of the ducts in my single-family house of about 1,300 square feet. They removed all vents and snake-cleaned all ducts, and also cleaned around the furnace.I like them, I'd hire them again.

Marshall actually came 10 minutes early! How ofter does that happen? He quickly located the vent exhaust on the roof and immediately began cleaning. The whole process was completed in about 1/2 hour. Marshall was knowledgable and very professional. Not much else to report as this is a pretty straight forward process. But ...it went smoothly and Marshall did what he said he was going to do at the agreed upon price.

I will use them again in the future.

Marshall Hoover arrived on time with his crew and spent an hour and 20 minutes cleaning out 6 vents in my home, plus the dryer vent in my garage. The crew did a good job of covering furniture to keep it free of any fallout from the vents. All vents were replaced after the cleaning. I asked Marshall not to replace the vent in the bathroom, as I was going to buy a new one because the louvers on this one were stuck and didn't move well. Marshall worked with WD-40 on my bathroom vent so that the louvers now move more easily and I didn't need to get a new one. After calling to tell him that I had debris coming from my vents after having my evaporative cooler serviced, Marshall returned with his crew 2 weeks later to re-do the job at no additional cost. I am happy to report that now (August), at the end of the cooler season, I am pretty much debris free while running the cooler. My clothes dry faster in the dryer as well, which I will attribute to the cleaner dryer vent. It was great to have Marshall's company do this job for me, and I am definitely keeping them in my address book for service in the future. If I forget his number, all I have to do is look on the coffee mug he left for me that's in my kitchen cabinet. Thanks Marshall!

Our experience with Hoover's was good overall. Mr. Hoover is certified with the National Air Duct Cleaning Association (I also recommend reading the EPA site, http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/airduct.html) We had our ducts (22 registers) cleaned to try to eliminate as much pet hair and dander as possible. Mr. Hoover answered the phone promptly and we were easily able to get the appointment date we wanted. He and his assistant arrived on time. They were able to service most of the vents/ducts except for the very high ones that were not reachable with the ladder. Since it is difficult to know whether the entire duct system is cleaned with the suction hose, I will always wonder if there are sections where there still might be pet hair/dander lurking....

Marshall and his team were very customer service orientated and returned to fix a problem we had with additional debris coming out of the vents after we changed over to our swamp cooler. Marshall did what he said he would do and followed through with his standard of work guarantee and customer service commitment, as he said he would.

Marshall and his team were prompt and thorough. When necessary, furnishings were carefully moved and restored upon completion. Grates and floor return covers were cleaned and carefully replaced. The master suite area of our home was particularly clogged with debris, taking a long time to clear. The team accommodated our dog and two inside cats. It was a perfect experience! We had our vents cleaned some years ago by a national chain. It was quite costly. Further, they skipped some vents and did not remove covers from most ceiling vents. Hoover's Air Duct Cleaning was vastly superior to our prior experience. As far as we're concerned, Marshall Hoover is our go-to guy for vent cleaning!

I called to obtain a next day appointment. I asked about the Angie's List $25 discount, but was told that was only valid for household duct cleaning. He did offer a ten percent discount on the original quote of $110, so I agreed to that. He called to let me know he was on his way, and arrived on time. While his crew was doing the work on the roof, he provided a requested estimate for duct cleaning. He indicated that several of the vents were not set properly (either partly or fully closed). He climbed up on a ladder to adjust those while his crew worked outside. He left a free mug and promised to call in two years for the next dryer vent service. I was very pleased with the service and will use this company again for future cleaning needs.

Great from start to finish! They were exactly on time at 9:00 am and got to work immediately. You can tell it is a very efficient team of three! They knew what to do, where to go, where to lay the hoses and the towels they used for protection. It took them 1 1/2 hours which was less time than what I had anticipated. They vacuumed up any residue on the carpets but actually left very little mess. Marshall is very personable and all three were professional and polite. I would highly recommend them!!

I have lived in my home since 1993 and had never had the air ducts or dryer vent cleaned. In fact, I didn't know I had to do that periodically until I was surfing Angie's List, saw the category, then looked at all of the information on Hoover's website. I contacted Mr. Hoover the week of Nov 10 and he promptly returned my call before the end of the business day, at which time we set up an appointment for service on Nov 17. As is usual with service businesses, he gave me a 2-hour window when he would arrive to do the work/ Mr. Hoover and his 2 helpers arrived 1/2 hour into the 2-hour window, introduced himself and his crew, explained what would occur, and doubled-checked the number of vents/ducts that would be serviced. It was like watching a choreographed "ballet": each of them had a portion of the job to do and they promptly set to work. The entire job was completed in less than 2 hours and I am very pleased with their service. The biggest hassle was removing some of the duct covers because they had been put into place before the paint had thoroughly dried and no matter how careful they tried to be 2 of them took a very small portion of the paint off the wall...for which Mr. Marshall apologized, although he was not at fault! In fact, It was a very minor problem for me, as I had extra paint and took care of it after they left. Although we hadn't discussed it beforehand, Mr. Marshall changed the furnace filter and thoroughly vacuumed the furnace blower, as there was a substantial amount of buildup there, and he did not charge extra for this service. I have noticed since then that the airflow through the vents is much stronger now and the furnace doesn't cycle on/off as frequently as it did before the cleaning. While they were there I continued working on a client's project in my home office, and was not even aware of them being in my home until the job was completed. They were meticulous, professional, and just really nice folks to deal with. An added benefit was having coffee the next morning with my magic coffee cup...what fun!!! I would not hesitate at all to use Hoover's Air Duct Cleaning again.

We needed our furnace/cooler air ducts cleaned. I called Hoover's on 11/1. They gave me an estimate. The price was higher than the estimate, because I miscounted the number of vents in our house. Company of three workers came on 11/3. They were fast, very tidy in their work. They not only cleaned the vents, but the house was cleaner after they left than it w as before they came. Very good job.

I was very satisfied with the work performed. They cleaned every air duct by hand and I could hear the plaster that had been left there for 50 years when other air duct cleaners had "cleaned it out." Apparently the previous companies had missed an awful lot of plaster and other debris that was in the heating registers. I am thrilled.

Mr Hoover and his helper arrived on time, assembled their equipment, covered furniture, and went to work. They ran big vacuum hoses and a spinning cleaning brush through all the vents and removed and cleaned the grills. They also disassembled the furnace and cleaned it thoroughly, and changed the filter. They worked quickly and diligently, and did a great job.

called for estimate and made an appointment for service. arrived on time, explained exactly what would be done and confirmed the original estimated price, did the work quickly and very professionally, cleaned up after themselves and made arrangements for future service. i would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone in need of their services. everything worked out better than i expected.

Hoover's cleans my dryer vent every two years. He calls to schedule as we get near that date. He is always punctual and quick. Would recommend him highly is you have ducts that need cleaning

After our washer overflowed and we had water go into a couple of the floor ducts, we thought it would be best to have the duct system cleaned out. They came when they said they would and did the cleaning of all the floor and ceiling ducts and registers. Although they were dried out by then, at the end, they sprayed the floor ducts with a disinfectant because the water had gotten in the ducts. This was the first time we had this duct cleaning done and were quite pleased with the service from Hoover's.

I don?t remember the cost but it was reasonable though. They were great and he was a great guy. I would definitely use them in future.

I was very impressed with these guys. They gave us a quote up front on how much it would cost to do all of the vents and ducts in our house. (We have a sprawling house, so there were a bunch of them.) Then they got going and discovered that animals had moved into our ducts, and had hauled an immense amount of dirt in to them, completely clogging some of the ducts in the bedroom. Although they told us that dirt in the ducts (as opposed to just dust and hair and the usual crud) was outside their expertise and equipment, they worked like fiends to get as much of the dirt out as they could. I'm sure they spent a lot longer on our house than they had intended to. Even so, they honored their original estimate and even their Angieslist coupon. I was quite impressed by their professionalism and service and the quality of the job they did. I would absolutely call them again in the future.
