Description of Work: The Geek squad staff find it difficult and apparently annoying to speak to customers who are not computer geeks in a manner that is technically simple and straightforward. I brought in my computer and was told that ALL my files would be still there after the repair and, thus, I believed there was no need to spend extra on backup. I had to buy a one year service plan for $200 rather than get my computer serviced on a one time basis. I next get a call that my hard drive was defective, so I had to go in and buy a new hard drive. More delay. Noone ever bothered to explain that none of my files on the defective hard drive would be transferred to the new hard drive. I complained and the manager charged me an extra $30 to transfer the files on the old hard drive to the new hard drive. Another day wasted. I was told to upload my Microsoft program at home to read these files on the new hard drive. I did so and, guess what? none of the files are readable. I went back and received instructions about how to install the microsoft program. It didn't work. I'm afraid to bring the computer back to them for fear some new disaster awaits. My computer is sometimes running slower than it even did before the repair. As soon as my expensive service plan is up, I'm never going back to the Geek Squad!!!

Over all bad experience will never used them again and probably will not use BB again.
Description of Work: Purchased laptop from BB abut 2 years ago. Took in for repair due to thermal shutdowns and warping of case. They had to send it off for repair. I received a call that they had an estimate. I called the 1-800 number I was asked to call. They said they couldn't help me with the estimate which I said this is the number I was asked to call.(20min call) They stated they know but it not correct. So I call BB to speak to the Geek Squad (hold 15 mintes). I told them what I needed, they put me on hold 15 minutes. They came back and asked what I needed, I told them again. They said I needed to call the 1-800 number. I said no, I just talked to them and they said I need to call the store where I purchased the laptop. Was put on hold again for 10 minutes, they found my estimate; $350. I asked them what was being replaced and other expenses to add up to $350. He stated will due to the amount it is probably something like the motherboard, or something else. I told him I wanted to know excactly what made up the $350 estimate. He said let me see if I can find a solution, told him I don't need a solution to laptop, I need information. He put me on hold for 20 minutes, came back told told me a little more and I accepted the estimate for repair. Over the next few days I looked at the Geek Squad site to see status of work order. It stated I declined the estimate, but parts were ordered. I called the 1-800 which was on the website and they said they could not help me I needed to call the store. So I called the store told them they the website stated I had declined service but did not. They again told me to call the 1-800 number, I again stated NO. They need to find out what is going on. He put me on hold 20 minutes, came back and said it wasn't declined it was a mistake and parts are ordered all is good. Almost 2 weeks later they called and said laptop is ready for pickup. I went to the store to pick it up, 1 person at the counter, wait was 3 people deep. When I got to the counter he handed me the laptop. I looked at it and found it was not repaired. He looked online and said I declined service. These people are a joke, totaly misrepresentation of what they do. For an IT company, they have software is also a joke. I was refunded $34 dollars for the deposit on repair. After all of this I think I am glad they didn't try to repair laptop. No one should every use the Geek Squad.

I chose Best Buy because of the price. When they came to install the television, they came on time. They basically hooked it up and left me to figure out how to use it.
Description of Work: I purchased a television from Best Buy.

Not well, the store wasted about 20 minutes of my time, and no sales occured.
Description of Work: i needed a security program for my laptop. Walked into the store and asked four different employees where they were, because they weren't by the computers. The first three had no idea, probably because they were standing around doing nothing like they were at a cocktail party. The last person I asked was on the way out, and she said "have you checked over there?" Nope, I was done checking. I was ready to spend about $400.00 total on three or four different techno items, but since it was so difficult to get my hands on the first one, I figured they really didn't want my money after all. Adios
