This was a pretty simple job on a relatively inexpensive table ($750) for someone of Mark’s skill level, but I like the table and didn't want to take any chances. The screw-in levelers were his idea and they worked perfectly, Turned out they weren’t really necessary because w all 4 levelers screwed all the way in, the table was totally level — no wobble. But it was good insurance and took the stress out of cutting the legs. Besides I like having the table sitting on felt, rather than directly on the tile — easier and quieter to move. 100% satisfied w the work. Cost of service included travel to Edgewood NM.
Description of Work: Needed DR table shortened by about 2”. Involved sawing off the bottoms of legs and inserting levelers.

Mark evaluated the problem with my wobbly bar stools and gave me a very reasonable price for fixing the problem. Although he is very busy, he had the stools completed in less than a week, and they were as sturdy as when they were brand new. He was easy to work with and did exactly what he said. I'd recommend him to anyone needing furniture repair.

These chairs have proven to be a real challenge - they're from the late 50s or early 60s, and the plastic seat insert was compromised and replacements were not available. Mark got creative and found a solution that allowed us to preserve these chairs for the next generation. I don't know that anyone else would have worked that hard to find a solution. Mark worked with the IL Furniture Medic to recoup most of the cost of this repair, but we did pay for the creative solution for the plastic insert challenge. I highly recommend Albuquerque Furniture Medic for any and all furniture needs. They treated these chairs with the same level of care as if they were their own!
Description of Work: This was a unique situation. We'd had 8 mid-century bridge chairs reupholstered in IL before moving to NM. We had the work done by a Furniture Medic in IL. Unfortunately, we had some issues with them. Mark with Albuquerque Furniture Medic agreed to make the needed repairs here locally, rather than have them shipped back to IL. That impressed me.

Great ! Mark did an excellent job. The table legs look like new, you cannot tell that they were repaired as he filled in the chewed areas and matched the stain perfectly. He also was very neat while working on the table and very prepared with cover clothes to put under the table and protect the carpet and cleaned up all the wood shavings after he was finished. I was most impressed and would certainly recommend Furniture Medic to all my friends.

He quoted me a price to fix the 2 chairs. I am a professional furniture maker but I live out of town and couldn't do the repair myself.I thought the price was high, but he could do it at a time that was going to be convenient for my mother. When he came to pick up the chairs he doubled the price. Here is what I asked him to do. Caned chair bottom, remove broken cane, replace with 1/2" AC ply from HD or Lowes, I didn't ask for staining, or fancy ply. Just cut the ply to fit the opening. Done.He wanted 125.00 each. $250.00 for 2 chairs. Delivery and pick up included. When he got to the house it suddenly became $500.00..and delivery extra. When the caretaker said that was not what was quoted, he said he would have to charge for the plywood he had already bought.
Description of Work: I called and made an appt to have 2 of my mother's chairs repaired It was a long time off, but I made it anyway to fix the 2 chairs. He came, saw my elderly mother's nice house and changed the price.

In response to the review I would like to clarify a few facts: 1. NO charges were paid by this customers and no finished work was done for this customer. 2. Miscommunication and misunderstanding regarding the scope of the work caused the change in price. [Specifics for those interested: Initially it was described that I would need to remove a cane seat and custom fit a ply board seat replacement, which I estimated the cost prior to site inspection at $125+tax +$75 collection & delivery. When I arrived to the customer’s house there were actually 2 chairs so the rate of $125 per chair changed to $250 for both chairs. **The customer accepted this price and I transported both chairs to my workshop. I then purchased the ply material and began making a template for use when cutting the ply board. A few days later, I received a call from the customer stating that the price quoted was too high and that they had changed their mind and wanted the chairs back. Then I got another call from the customer changing their mind again and asking me to continue and that they did want the chairs done. Then about a week from initial contact I got a third call telling me that that they did not want the work completed (again) and at this point I scheduled a time to return the chairs. The customer stated they would reimburse me the cost of the ply material when we spoke on the phone. When I returned the chairs the customer did not offer to reimburse the money paid for the ply and I did not ask for the money, as I am a professional and felt the customer should have recognized that they wasted both my time and caused frustration for both of us.] 3. Our company goal is always to have happy and satisfied customers! We would never intentionally misquote or mislead ANY of our customers as we are a values-based company. The implication in this review that the price was changed because of the customer’s wealth, age or ability to pay is absurd and something we take personal offense to. 4. This is the first review of this nature that we have had in nearly 4 years of business and would like to put this behind us and we continue to offer 100% satisfaction to all our customers. Many of whom are repeat customers and gladly recommend us to their family and friends. -- Mark Ryan

Mark was spot on the promised time. He did an excellent repair job on a daybed that I thought was a lost cause. It looks perfect and is stronger than when it was new. It took him no time at all to repair the slats in the rocker. Good price, great service and definitely will use again when the need arises.

I had purchased a sofa from Lauren Homes before they went bankrupt. The sofa sagged in the middle about a month after purchase. I called Lauren Homes and they would do nothing despite the warranty. I put the sofa on the back porch and peeled off the Ralph Lauren label. It was covering the label of the actual manufacturer - SpectraHome. I called SpectraHome and they sent Mark Ryan to my home. Mark realized that he would virtually have to rebuild the sofa from the ground up. Mark informed SpectraHome and advised them to replace the sofa. They did. Iwas impressed with Mark's knowledge and his integrity. I would not hesitate to hire him, and I would not look any further.

Spoke with Mark and explained the situation and that the piece of furniture was repairable but he needed to take a look at it to see what would be the best approach. Mark arrived on time and assessed the situation and did an awesome job. He stablized two of my glass hutch doors and repaired a gouge where one of the cabinet doors had fallen previously and gouged the lower unit. I was very pleased with his work performance and his professionalism. I would most definitely refer his business to my friends. Thanks for what you do. Several large pieces of new furniture arrived with damage, and rather than returning the items, I contacted Mark to get an estimate, which was reasonable, and the seller offered a cash settlement to cover the cost of repairs. Since the furniture was quite large and heavy, it was very helpful to have Mark do the work at my home. He arrived at the scheduled time and assessed the various repairs needed, including some I hadn’t noticed previously. He offered viable solutions for some rather unusual problems. He does very nice work – the mitered joint he repaired in the large mirror frame now looks better than the other undamaged joints! He brought all the necessary supplies with him, and thoroughly cleaned the work area when he finished. I'm very happy with the results: the items look good as new and I'm confident that they are now structurally sound.

I spoke to Mr. Ryan about the damage to the bed footboard and the third party sent photographs and agreed to a price. I then set up a time for Mr. Ryan to do the repair. He was punctual and did a great job. I would recommend his work and professionalism but cannot speak to what he charged the third party who accidentally caused the damage to the furniture.
Description of Work: I called Mr. Ryan to repair my granddaughter's brand new white bed footboard that had been accidentally damaged by a third party. Because it was brand new furniture, I wanted a professional repair of a black scuff mark and a small dent. Angie's List reviewers had given Mr. Ryan such high ratings, I told the third party that I wanted him to do the repair. It was agreed to and Mr. Ryan brought the footboard back to looking brand new.

Mark is extremely careful and conscientious, and his work exceeded my expectations. He completely rewove the rush fiber on a footstool my grandfather made in the 1930s. He matched the fiber exactly and did a fabulous job at a very reasonable price. The footstool was damaged in a move 25 years ago, and I was told then it could not be restored. I am delighted to have a very sentimental piece back in service again! Mark also repaired a teak cabinet (part of a mid-century teak wall unit). Two of its hanging pegs had broken off, and one of the edges was gouged. I had originally asked if he could refinish the cabinet top, which had been damaged by black paint. Mark was very kind and thorough about explaining why that was not a good idea... I did not realize that the top was veneer. He did work a bit on the top and the marks are less noticeable. Mark is truly a craftsman. He's busy, no doubt because he's very good at what he does!

I didn't have any wood repair done this time, but the company showed a level of professionalism that would make me consider them first if I needed such work in the future.

See above. All went according to estimates and very pleased. He's also a neighbor and came down the street to pick up the pieces. He works for commercial jobs, but for small private jobs, he has a workshop attached to his home. He keeps in touch and is very honest about when he can get to a job and how long it will take. No complaints. Very satisfied. HIghly recommend.
Description of Work: I have called on him a couple of times already. He repaired an antique rocking chair seat just as he said he would and stuck to the estimated price. He repaired a leg on an old chair and looks great. He finished stripping a pine chest that had been started years ago. He gave me a great price as it took him quite a long time, but he stuck to it. Looks great also. I will call on him again for other projects. He fully explains what he will do and what he can do along with price before doing the job. Also gave me advice on care.

The chairs are now splendid: glowing examples of the 1920s style. I am 80 years old, and these chairs were part of my childhood and youth for many years. I am overjoyed to have them in my house, restored to their original beauty. They will be passed on to my children, part of our family history.
Description of Work: He restored 4 dining-room chairs: heavy, solid wood, from 1929. They were battered, dusty, and falling apart. Part of the beauty of the style was the simple, heavy, curved pieces, assembled with wood wedges and pegs. Mark reconstructed the chairs, replacing the old wedges and restoring the structural integrity of the pieces. He then sanded the chairs, smoothing out gouges and scratches, staining them the original warm color, and finishing with three satin finishing coats. This was labor-intensive.

A perfect experience--quick, professional, excellent craftsmanship, pleasant to deal with, altogether a great interactions.
Description of Work: Mike repaired an antique dining room chair (French art deco, my grandmother's legacy, very precious to us), and did a simply perfect job. One medallion on a corner of the leg was broken, and he fabricated and matched the medallion on the other side of the chair! We have tried a number of furniture repair and refinishing people in Albuquerque, and he is, hands down, the best. When my husband brought the chair home and showed it to me, my first reaction was, "Don't we have anything else for Mike to work on?" Thanks, Mike! You'll see us again.

I couldn't have asked for a better service. The sitter arrived daily and did exactly what she said she would do. She also worked hard to get my timid cat out of hiding and was able to have him feel at ease and play like he does when we were home.
Description of Work: Fetch was a great company for my pets. They sent an experienced cat sitter, Roxann, who worked with my shy cat, Pete, to make him more at ease while we were away. Please disregard this review. It has been attached to our company by mistake.
When we moved into our new home, our antique dining room table was damaged. We were hesitant at first to call someone we didn't know to fix our table, since it means so much to us. When I spoke to Ryan over the phone, however, I felt reassured. He asked me to email a few photos and was able to give me an estimate over the phone. When he arrived at our house, it looked like he was going to perform major surgery. It was fascinating to watch him match the colors and the wood grain of the table using magnifying glasses. When he finished the job, I couldn't even find the original damage. I even challenged my wife to find the spot where the wood was originally gouged and she couldn't even find it. The estimate was right on the mark and the quality of work was astonishing. It was relieving to eat dinner on the table again without constantly seeing the damaged wood. Mark even touched up a couple of scratches just to make sure the table looked perfect. I would use Bespoke Restoration again in a heartbeat. It is nice finding contractors who take pride in their work. He was more of an artist than a repairman.
