Went well, they even cleaned up a bit of mess that resulted.

Provider checked electric in the outlets and then on the neighboring ones. Electric power was cut-off in the house office room, so they could work on tying the non-working outlets to the working one. They then powered up the room once more, checked the outlets and verified they were all working correctly. Provider asked if there were any other issues to address, there were none.

We found Antonio on Angie's list and hired him last month to fix an electrical problem. We were very pleased with his work and asked for an estimate for pendant lighting installation that we were thinking of for the kitchen. His estimate was reasonable and we called him when we had purchased the red pendant lights we wanted. It was a tricky installation as we have a soffit over the counter that we wanted them hung from and did not know if it would work. Antonio and Andy were very professional. They cleaned up as they went and the installation was completed in short order. We are really pleased with the result!!

Antonio (owner) is a knowledgable electrician. We first hired him to fix a bad outlet that would not work only 2 days after being sloppily installed by a previous electrician. A second time he installed outlets for our security cams. This time he gave pointers on how to do the job right to his apprentice while working quickly and expertly. He was careful to place cans exactly in a straight line down both sides of 2-car garage, suggesting a better arrangement that worked out better.

I was pleasantly surprised that Mr. Mondragon, owner of the company, arrived a few minutes earlier than the scheduled time. I showed him where the installation was to be placed and he showed me the box that he was going to use and what he was going to do. He was extremely informative, professional, and courteous, and I felt satisfied with the installation that was done. The cost for this service was also very reasonable. I would highly recommend him and his company for any electrical needs.

Showed up on time - saw what was to be done - got right to work. I explained the problem I was having with a GFCI outlet in the kitchen. He checked it out and replaced it. I then elected to have him replace the other 2 so there would be no future problem. If we need anymore work done. This is the man we will call. Prompt, fair price , professional. Would recommend.

I called him midmorning, made an appointment for 2 PM the same day. He arrived and installed the fixture quickly and professionally in a very short time. He was courteous, helpful in other problems I described and his charge was more than fair.

We worked with Antonio. He went out of his way to be honest and he was very professional with us. He did a super job. His price was comparable to what needed to be done - our job was very labor intensive. He was very quick - in and out in 3 hours.

Anthony showed up on time to pigtail my whole aluminum wired home to be able to pass an electrical inspection. I provided new switches and recepticles. A relatively inexperienced helper pigtailed the switches while Anthony worked on the panel. I watched carefully while trying to clean up all the debris flying around. They worked fast and steady, everthing went OK until a loud pop and blue flash at the swamp cooler switches sent up red flags in my mind. I can only hope my swamp cooler will work next summer. I have two 3 way switches controlling a light in my den that no longer worked properly when everthing was finished. They were working before being pigtailed and I told Anthony to fix this before he left. This is where Five Star Electric earns a D grade from me. I paid $1000.00 for labor on this 7 hour job expecting exellent work in return. I suspected a mistake was made and could be fixed if the Electrician knew his job. Anthony insisted the house wiring was wrong, and no error was made in Pigtailing. He also told me he would fix it free if I hired him again for some major job. I gave up the argument and just paid him. I also hired another Electrician to find out why these switches did'nt work. This man found the hot wire and the traveler reversed on one of the 3 way switches. He fixed it in less time than Anthony and I had argued about it. I would not hire Five Star Electric again and would not recommend them to anyone else. 02/19/14 I have an update to my review of Five Star Electric. With the warm weather recently, I turned on one of my ceiling fans and it would not work. I took some photos as it was being inspected to find out why. You can see all the melted wiring inside the box. It also melted the ground wire inside the ceiling fan motor, thereby destroying the fan. This could have started a FIRE in my attic. This company would even endanger your life and property to make a buck. Hiring a real electrician twice, and buying a new fan, will drive up my expence to over $2000.00. Stay away from Five Star Electric. You have been warned.

I came home to flickering lights, a burned wire smell in the kitchen, and the stove clock shouting at me, "BAD LINE". Five Star was there within half an hour. They tested the lines coming into the house and determined that the voltage on one line was high, and, on the other, low. They documented this, and suggested we photograph the meter reading. It took me 20 minutes to even get through to PNM on their emergency number, and it took three hours for them to show up, so I was very relieved to have gotten accurate information quickly and know what on earth was going on.

After installing a security gate across my front porch, the doorbell button was inaccessible. I tried using a wireless system for a time, but it was unreliable. I read about Antonio Mondragon / 5 Star Electric on Angie's List and gave him a call on Monday. We scheduled for the very next morning. He kept in contact with me concerning his arrival time, and he was prompt and showed up ready to go. He gave me a few options for rerouting the wiring, and we went with the best one. Antonio clearly knew exactly what he was doing. The project was completed professionally and quickly, and the end results are just what I wanted. At the end of the service he loaded up his tools and began to write out the bill when I suddenly remembered a kitchen light fixture I had purchased the day before. I had intended to install it myself, but after reconsidering that foolish idea, I ran out to the truck and asked him to come back in and install the light fixture. A credit to his patience and cheerful nature, he gladly came back in and within minutes, had installed the light that had been out of service for many months. Yeah!!! I felt completely at ease with Antonio and his friendly assistant. I intend to have them back ASAP to have an outdoor electrical outlet installed. I wholeheartedly recommend him to any and all. A great guy doing a great job!

Antonio was on time, efficient, knowledgeable, careful not to damage our wood floors or furniture. The installation went well, and fairly quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend Antonio to anyone who wants a true professional electrician.

Terrific! Antonio was no only on time but he arrive a little early. He was knowledge, persoanable and worked quickly. He kept me informed of what had to be done and did exellent work. He then asked if I needed anything else done. I told him 'yes' and he quoted me a very fair price to install to lighting fixtures inside of closets in my home. This job will include running wire through the crawl space and all materials and labor. I most certianly will take advantage of this, too!

I have nothing but good things to say about Antonio. We first met with a small job to replace a bathroom vent fan. He was very punctual, professional and provided an alternate solution to our problem. Later I had him come back to provide a quote on replacing the original breaker panel with a modern one and relocating it to our garage. In addition we upgraded a number of the outlets in our kitchen and added a number of new outlets in the garage. His quote was the best we had received we discussed and agreed on a contract and work began that next week. The work took about one and half days to complete, Antonio came prepared and was on task the entire time. The final product was done exceptionally well and we are very pleased with the work. I have recommended Antonio to a number of co-workers who were looking to get some work done. All in all a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend Five Star Electrical! Antonio and Andy were very nice and polite. Antonio advised me of the best place for the outlet explaining what advantages there were in one particular place over another. They got to work immediately and were done in no time. The outlet looked very good and they cleaned up after they were done. I am very pleased with their work and will definitely be calling them again.

I initially hired Five Star Electric to install an exterior light fixture, but ended up having Antonion upgrade my electrical service instead. My trees were in bad shape after the drought, so I had Eric's Trees come out to take a look at them last summer, right after the heavy windstorm in July 2013. They noticed that a branch from one of my big pine trees was impinging on a power line and told me that if I had lost power during the storm, PNM would not have turned it back on because my meter box was not up to code. I had Antonio upgrade my electrical service from 100 amps to 200 amps, and he has done a great job! I have an older house, and Antonio always explained what needed to be done (and why), and came up with creative options to handle some of the challenges posed by the layout of my house and various obstacles he encountered. He was very professional and thorough (and also very nice about getting work done when I needed it). I needed to have some work done on the exterior light fixtures in preparation for having a new stucco job on my house and Antonio took care of that, and he also replaced a bathroom light fixture for me. This was done on the same day he completed the electrical service, and Antonio and his assistant worked nonstop (without a lunch break) to get the work done before the next day, when the stucco crew was coming. I plan to have Antonio do additional electrical work on my house.

After the fan had stopped operating, I took out the switch to check it, and found it was okay, so I decided I needed more professional assistance, and called "Five Star". They arrived shortly after we made the appointment. The team consisted of Antonio and helper Jeff. They were prompt and professional. They quickly determined that the problem was the fan motor. He had a new exhaust fan in the truck so there was no need to go for a new unit. He made the decision to transfer the new motor from the new unit to the original housing thus saving the cost to marry to new unit to the installation. Thus saving the cost for the adaption of the new unit which saved me about $80. The work performed was satisfactory and expeditiously performed. Antionio then looked at another project and gave me advice on how to go about it and gave me an estimate, which was very reasonable, and I will use his services when I am ready to proceed with it.

Antonio called within two days of ordering the panel replacement coupon. Came with assistant Jeff, they discussed options with me, we agreed on course of action, they went to buy required equipment for the replacement, returned within 30 minutes, went to work on the replacement. The replacement panel was a bit smaller than existing panel, so Antonio picked up drywall and filled in wall to accommodate. He explained to me how new panel worked and what to do. They were finished within a few hours. When I called for a little problem follow-up, Antonio was back right away, fixed problem, very professional. I will definitely recommend his work.

They were professional, capable, affordable, friendly and quick. I would use them again for any electrical work needed.

The electrician's showed up on time, they were courteous and verified what I was having done. I took them to the bathroom and showed them what was there. There are two switches in the bathroom, one for the light and the other for the fan. I explained that if you have the exhaust on, you must leave on the light. I asked them if the switches could be separated. They didn't say, "oh of course we can do that". They said, let's take the current system and see how things are wired. I left them to do what they needed to do. After about 15 minutes one of the electrician's came and got me. They showed me the new fan was in and quieter. They explained as much as they would have liked to split the switches, the problem was the light was wired to the fan and the fan to the switches. They told me it could be done, but it would probably take a lot of rewiring and could be quite expensive. I appreciate the fact that they didn't just open the ceiling to get a better look at it, I appreciate the fact that they didn't try to convince me to go ahead and have it done. They were very professional in how the spoke with me and explained everything. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to my family and friends.
