Even before we knew how valuable a liveable backyard would be during this stay-at-home pandemic summer, we'd decided to do a re-landscape. A major job, replacing and enlarging a poured concrete patio with paver blocks, fixing a tired lawn plagued with surface tree roots and decaying RR tie edging, completely revamping the irrigation system, and adding a water feature. Since it's an expensive investment, we had planned a due-diligence competitive bid among at least some of the many providers in Albuquerque. But we stopped after call #1, because Paul Gelb was too compelling a contender. He'd visited us within a few days, listened to us describe our thoughts on changes we wanted, and then immediately made some suggestions that were "aha" moments--Why hadn't we thought of that? From the get-go, he convinced us that he was personally invested in our project. And we were equally impressed with his crew--these workers are career professionals. Dependable, personable, hard-working and competent. The job was well-planned, budgeted and executed. One-stop shopping: design through installation. Price was fair; not cheap, but definitely worth every penny. For the past few weeks now we've been enjoying our wonderful new back patio and yard. We really can't say enough about how pleased we've been with Enchantment Landscapes. All these Angie's List "A" ratings are not an illusion.

Our backyard needed help. Paul was able to visualize the help it needed. He and his crew were fabulous from beginning to end. Very professional, personable people. Communication was easy, from Paul to Annie to Rigo. We definitely hire them again.

Paul and his crew were way above professional. Paul came to our house and explained what he recommended for our yard as far as plants and all and even showed us pictures of when they are matured and grown. His crew was very professional and cleaned up everyday when finished for the day.I would and already have recommended them as they are the best out there in my opinion.Give them a call. The work was extensive. The foreman and crew were extremely professional and showed great care in everything they did. Each day they showed up promptly to begin work, cleaned up their tools, raked and swept at the end of the day. With everything they needed to do my yard was always left uncluttered and tidy. The office manager & Paul routinely kept in touch with me via email to provide me with updates. Paul often stopped by to personally check on the progress. Cost and time estimates are always tricky, in my opinion. However, I must make this point; the total cost and time estimates were extremely close to perfect! No surprises at the end. My new backyard is beautiful and exactly what I had pictured, down to the last little winter pansy! I cannot wait until Spring when all the “jewels” Paul planted pop-up in my flowerbed. Great company and I would highly recommend.

Couldn't have been better. Paul's crew were there every day promptly and worked hard to make everything perfect. Also, Paul regularly checked in. On top of that, he took "ownership" of the job, guaranteeing that he would settle for nothing less than perfection. He is taking care of the first fertilizing, is replacing a few spots where the sod did not take hold (having been installed in the hot Albuquerque summer), and refreshing the flowerbed when winter comes. So we are extremely happy.

When Paul and I had our first meeting, I explained to him what I needed. He gave me the low maintenance and so much more. He told me that I would have color in the yard year round. We started with pansies and next came the beautiful yellow daffodils. I can see the buds forming on all the other plants so there is more color to come. Paul and his crew were all professionals who knew what they were doing. I have had professional landscaping done in the past, but the job Enchantment did was the best that I have ever had. Even the ugly tags were removed from the plants. I would certainly recommend them to anyone.

They did exceptional work in a timely manner.

Paul and his highly experienced workers completely redid the sprinkler system, replaced all tarp and laid new rocks. The grassy areas were reseeded where necessary. Patio tiles were placed where grass was difficult to grow. New plants were added and/or replaced as necessary. We used the wonderful landscape designer recommended by Paul, which gave us a detailed idea of what was to be done. Everything about this job went perfectly. This is no surprise to me as I have used Enchantment Landscapes numerous times over the last 7 years and am always delighted with the work. Paul's and his team are a classic example of "you get what you pay for."

Paul Gelb was great! He really listened to what I wanted and was also considerate of my budget. His knowledge of plants and trees is considerable. He provided a clear blueprint of the plan that helped me to see what it would be. His crew was always prompt and respectful and I saw great progress each day. They reused railroad ties and other materials and shaped trees. My garden was moved to a better location and they installed a watering system for all the new plants. It was quite an investment in my property. But I'm so pleased with the outcome it was worth every penny!

We have ment to write this review. It's been one year since Enchantment Landscaping did our backyard. Our backyard is still beautiful and has absolutely no problems. We enjoy being on our patio and backyard every day. Enchantment's help with planning and work were all done to our satisfaction . Our ideas were incorporated into their ideas with perfect results. Paul and his team are very good and a pleasure to work with. The team were very attentive, professional and kept exact appointment times. Paul and his staff provided an excellent product. I was looking to redo my entire yard (front, back, and courtyards) and Paul provided the best option that fit within my budget. Instead of making the entire project fit within my budget by using cheap materials and by cutting corners, he suggested that we break the project into two, more affordable, high quality efforts. He is very personable and could tell right away what was most important to me and suggested that we wait to do the front yard. The back yard is where we, as a family, would spend most of our time and he was right. I'm a big fan of the work that was done...it was timely, within budget, and done at a high level of quality. I'm looking forward to having the front yard done by Paul and his crew. Speaking of his crew...Paul's staff is top notch.

We had many small problems to fix in our yard, and Paul had great suggestions on how to address the problems with minimal expense and work. I really appreciated his practical approach, and he was very knowledgeable about landscaping. His team got the work done quickly and they were always very professional. The work that they did looks lovely and is really practical for our family.

From beginning to end, this was by far the best contracting experience we have ever had in Albuquerque!! Paul, the owner, was always on time for appointments. He is a very nice, honest and creative man. He took me out to look at landscaping options and work that he has done--2 1/2 hours worth of his valuable time. He has an amazing knowledge about plants and trees and where they will thrive. Paul listens to your requests and needs then designs a creative yard for you. All of the process was lined up with perfect timing on deliveries--amazingly well orchestrated. Rigio headed the work crew. These gentlemen worked so hard and smart! They really knew their business and put great care in providing a quality job. They were delightful people who were just as organized and timely as Paul. They cleaned up the area at the end of each day. All of these men were incredibly nice and brilliant at their work. The women who run the business end for Paul are also delightful and extremely efficient. Once again, everything was timely. All bills were accurate and our water rebate was submitted right away upon job completion. Here is an example of honesty. We were charged for 1 1/2 dumpsters but only used one. We received money back. When a 5 gallon plant was not as good as a 2 gallon plant, we were credited the difference. We would have never known about either of the charges. Paul is very honest and does not do unnecessary work. He and his staff all take pride in their work. Paul and his group are outstanding! I cannot think of one thing that is not perfect. I will recommend them to all of my friends without hesitation. We are hiring them for our yard maintenance. Just cannot lose touch with them!!

Loved the time we got with the expert Paul; who happens to be the owner. He was prompt and very engaging. He spent a lot of time, not just on the current project but walking us through our new yard and highlighting plants, maintenance and giving overall advice. He had great ideas on this project for plants, ground cover and watering. We used his ideas versus what we originally thought, since they made more sense. The company kept us informed on where we were in the schedule and were prompt. We made a last minute change to add one additional plant and the field supervisor took care of it that day. These are the folks you want to do your landscaping!! This company is passionate about doing the job to the customer's satisfaction. I spoke with several businesses regarding cost of design and labor to landscape our courtyard. The design and quote from Enchantment Landscapes went beyond my expectations. It was on the lower end of those I had solicited, but it included use of our huge pile of heavy rock left over from our construction. Paul Gelb designed a wonderful 55-ft wall using our material, saving us thousands. His quote also included landscaping along the 55-ft wall. This area was outside our courtyard and needed landscaping, but no other contractor could do that and stay within our budget. Actually, it seemed that no other contractor wanted to use our material, yet our wall turned out perfect and we have received many compliments on its rustic beauty -- and we stayed on budget. This is the kind of design vision that Paul brings to the job. During the design phase, Paul had so many beautiful ideas on plants, pavers, trees, and placement of a small fountain. But, he also listened to my thoughts and incorporated what was important to me. During the actual landscaping, it was apparent to me why this company is so great. The staff was smart, skilled, punctual and respectful. The team leader was most professional. They truly 'worked with me' when decisions came up. If anything changed schedule-wise, it was minor and I was fully-advised ahead of time. I have worked with many contractors and I can unequivocally say that Enchanted Landscapes is the best. I was so pleased with the efficiency of the quote, the high quality of the workmanship, and the follow-up to assure I was happy.

Paul, the owner of Enchantment Landscapes, Inc., is extraordinary. He makes it a priority to get to know his customers, their likes and dislikes, before he designs. He is very knowledgeable and personable. He is very upfront about his services being expensive, but the quality of the materials and the services performed are well worth the cost. His crew, lead by Rigo, are friendly, courteous, hard-working and punctual. They really know what they are doing. They always left the work site clean. Even after the job was completed, Paul has been out several times to make sure everything is as it should be. We highly recommend Paul and Enchantment Landscapes, Inc.

Paul Gelb, owner of Enchantment Landscapes, was fantastic. He was punctual, knowledgeable, available, and offered a fair price. He had lots of good suggestions as to what we should plant, but was not dogmatic about it. If we wanted something different, he was always obliging. He did everything he promised he would do. He showed sincere concern for our well being, and made sure we were happy with the way the project was going. His office staff was outstanding in estimating the job and completing all the paperwork and documentation necessary for me to get water rebates for replacing the lawn and planting trees. The invoices were detailed and transparent. I knew everything I was being charged for.The work crew was exceptional: Highly competent, hard working, extremely skillful, able to tackle any problem they encountered, and considerate of our time and property. The job went without a hitch from my point of view. I am very satisfied with the final result. After the job was completed, Paul himself stopped by the house to powerwash the patio deck to remove any trace of dirt left by the project.

Let me start off by saying that if we could give these guys an A+, we most certainly would. This has been hands down the best experience we have ever had with a contracting service in any industry. Paul and his merry band of landscapers were a joy to work with and we couldn't be happier with the gorgeous results. Our story starts with some pretty hideous landscaping. We bought our house earlier this year and priority one was to overhaul the landscaping. We interviewed about 8 different companies and Enchantment beat everyone by a mile. Paul's enthusiasm for his work is hard not to admire and its immediately obvious that he takes immense pride in it. Our inherited landscaping was so bad that it actually offended Paul. He became instantly vested in correcting the issue, and even made some spot repairs during our initial consultation. We admired his dedication and ended up securing his services for our landscaping needs. The next few weeks were spent gathering and quantifying information about our wants and desires. Paul has an encyclopedic knowledge of native plants. He knows exactly what works best and where, plus he always had a slew of follow up options should we not like a suggestion. Once we decided on a plan, his office staff drew up some wonderful blueprints that helped us visualize the end product. We went over every detail with of the plan and made adjustments as necessary. Once we finalized our blueprints, we scheduled installation dates. Paul's installation crew was simply amazing. These guys are machines. Paul assigned three workers to our project and they stripped our old landscaping and irrigation system in a matter of days without any disruption to us or our neighbors (1/3 acre). They methodically executed our plan, which included a new irrigation system, tons of gravel, lots of stone work, a large array of native plants, a home garden, and a beautifully landscaped stone labyrinth (Paul's vision based on our style preferences). They completed everything in the estimated time without any hiccups or needless rushing. We were blown away by their efficiency. And as an added bonus, they guys were super friendly and very professional. So yes, we highly recommend Enchantment Landscapes. They are now the only company we will let service our exterior needs. We have also retained them for regular maintenance service. If only we could clone them for other industries, then the contracting world would be a better place.

This particular incident's details - Paul's men were prompt, knowledgeable, and meticulous. During the manifold replacement, they had to dig a 3 foot hole which displaced a pile of dirt 3' X 8'. As always, they used tarps and when the job was complete, you couldn't even tell they were there. You don't find that kind of attention to detail often. What I liked the most was the confidence they instilled approaching the job. They set my mind at ease right away and handled the job with no apparent problem. As always, Paul chose the perfect equipment - a controller that was user friendly and had all the functionality that I would ever need. Beyond this job, I would like to take the time to expound on Paul Gelb and Enchantment Landscapes. Honesty, Integrity, Quality - When hiring someone for the job, these attributes are paramount. With Paul Gelb and Enchantment Landscapes, that?s exactly what you get! I have known Paul as a friend from the early 80s and have seen his business grow from infancy. I have personally had 2 complete landscape overhauls with added irrigation, as well as numerous lesser jobs performed by Paul himself and his qualified crew (on this note, I?ve got to mention that Paul totally respects the people who work for him and genuinely takes care of them like no other employer I know). I couldn?t be happier with the work I?ve received and his vision. I consider my properties showcase quality, all because of Paul?s keen eye and attention to detail. Paul takes pride in his work. I have accompanied him on tours of his work and have seen the maturation of each property. He sincerely takes pride in these - I am totally impressed with his passion and commitment to the client and his work. You won?t find this quality in many people or businesses these days. As important as the quality of his work and in my opinion even more, Paul impresses me with the personal friendships he develops with his clientele. Because of his genuine love and care for people, it?s not a surprise. I am totally impressed with the love and respect he shows to people. You can?t ask for anything more!

From the first meeting with Paul, we knew we had found the right person to landscape our yard. The yard had been minimally (and poorly) landscaped by Hilltop 10 years ago when we built the home. The lawn was a ridiculous shaped that could never be adequately watered, and for what we spent, all we had were three trees on an irrigation system with the ghost-shaped lawn and Santa Fe brown gravel everywhere else. Paul must have spent two hours talking with us about what we wanted during that first meeting, and he sat down and started sketching on the back of a file folder, talking through the design. A dog lover himself, he was very amenable to features that considered the activity of our two huskies, and even placed the large water feature and a pinion tree to create some barrier to the one corner of the yard that abuts a yard which is higher in position, so could be an escape route for a curious husky. Paul's fantastic, professional, clean, detailed-minded and just plain sweet group of guys carried out his design plan to the letter. They removed and relocated all of the large gravel to our side walkways, even adding some to our front xeriscaping and filling in the dirt area along our pool equipment for no extra charge. Then they reconfigured the lawn to a perfect oval, built a handcrafted (each stone cut and set like a puzzle) flagstone patio, installed all of the irrigation to new plants (and our existing, mature pines and red bud), created a magnificent stream-like water feature, and built privacy trellises for roses and clematis. The resulting landscaped yard exceeded our expectations. It is lovely and tranquil, and we now feel like we've expanded our living space by having an outdoor living room on our portal, an outdoor grilling and eating area next to our "stream" and a wonderful reading/conversation zone, where we can listen to the rippling of that water, watch hummingbirds, and take in the beauty of the sky and the mountains. From the practical standpoint of a landscaping project, we were beyond impressed. Paul's schedule was like clockwork (when the crew would start removal/when start building the landscape, when things like the stones and crusher fine or even the dumpster arrived or was picked up). The job was completed exactly in the timeframe Paul initially stated, and the cost was almost exactly spot on the estimate we were given (even a tad less!). Paul's employees at the office (Annie/Pam) were so courteous, and Pam even created the invoice we needed to claim a TreeBates from ABCWUA. We are already thinking of future projects to create more privacy and beauty around our home, and we know Enchantment Landscape will be our choice to do the work.

What nice people to work with. Mr. Gelb was on time and informative. The work was done within 1 week of our first meeting. He also didn't try to "sell" me more than I needed. My lawn was so full of weeds I was considering having it all removed and new sod replaced. He suggested a different, much more economical solution, and I'm already seeing good results. His crew is large, so the works get done quickly.

I recently purchased an older home in NE heights. The shallow backyard and very large side yard needed extensive work. Previous owners had installed multiple layers of black plastic and gravel, a foot deep in places. There was a small patio, nice pinon, and one tall but almost dead fir tree (roots were between 2 layers of black plastic, in gravel). I called several highly rated landscapers. One told me what he thought I should do with minimal input from me; another was ready to do whatever I said, without making any recommendations; another was basically selling concrete. Paul asked me questions about my lifestyle, likes and dislikes, favorite plants, gardening experience, and how I wanted to use my yard. He told me that if I paid him for a plan, I would own it and would not be obligated to use him for the installation (others had insisted that plans were proprietary and if I did not hire them, I could not use any plans I paid for). The work was planned in two phases in case I needed to spread it over a couple of years. Many of my ideas were incorporated into the plans, often with improvements or modifications. Paul made additional suggestions, and explained why he recommended them. The work took over a week, a day longer than estimated because removing the gravel was a bigger job than anticipated. The workers were prompt, hard working, knowledgeable, skillful and courteous. They were good natured about sharing their work space with a very busy dog. Because of very hot weather, they arrived very early in the morning to minimize their time working in the heat of the day, but they put in full days. Paul stopped by every day, and has come back once since the job was completed to check on how plants are doing. The yard now has clearly defined areas for entertaining, gardening, relaxing and a natural area around the trees, with a nice flow between areas. It looks substantially larger than before. Plant placement preserves the views while enhancing privacy. The new patio is positioned to see the best views. The plants are all bird, bee or butterfly friendly, and they are already attracting visitors. Most of them are xeric. I can hardly wait to see them when they have a few years' growth. The entire yard is comfortable, low maintenance, useful and GORGEOUS. The results exceeded my expectations. And the almost dead eyesore tree is reviving and putting on new growth! I will definitely use Enchantment Landscapes for future maintenance work, and would unqualifiedly recommend them. (Note: This was not cheaper than other estimates, but I got my money's worth). P.S. The front yard was not redone - it's landscaping is dated, but healthy.
