Empire Yard Maintenance

He did not do some of the work that we asked for. The lawn did not come out well. Stated that he would treat the weeds and reseed. He came out and then 2 weeks went by and we never heard anything from him. We called him several times and also left voicemails. It would be nice if he would have communicated with us letting us know that the job was too big for him to complete. We paid him $4500.00 for the service.

They did everything I didn't do throughout the summer and fall. I'm horrible about keeping up with my yard, but they make it so easy when they come in, give it a makeover, and it looks perfect.

It's a "mow and blow" operation, so there's no attention given to trimming plants, or raking up debris, or doing anything else to maintain or improve the landscaping. The exception was the time they offered to adjust the irrigation to better cover the grassy area. But the grassy area started dying... and it was up to us to add nutrients, aerate the soil, etc. They violated our request to avoid chemicals. They trampled some plants and never replaced them. I disliked the leaf blower approach to cleaning up. And I could have paid a local kid to simply mow. I won't renew the contract because I'd prefer someone who brings more knowledge and more care for the landscape. FYI -- after our termination, this company changed ownership, so that may change the management and approach.

Great service. Scheduling service was later than I anticipated. I waited 2 weeks after contact for the work to be completed. When they arrived, it worked out perfectly. I would use them again.

Cut down heavy weeds and removed debris in front, back, and side yards. Removed and trimmed back bamboo plants. Trimmed back grape vine and trimmed dead branches on multiple plants. Sprayed roots of the remains of weeds to kill them back. Original 8 man hours was not sufficient to finish work but owner honored the $30 per man hour rate on the Angie's deal to bring in two workers to finish up the final clean-up. I am extremely happy with the results and how the workers followed my instructions and even took the initiative to clean-up items I failed to mention. Great work Empire!

I had two people for two hours and they were very accommodating. I would hire again.

They have been doing yard maintenance for me for several years and they come every two weeks. The last time they were here was last Friday. It is a very small lawn so they charge me about $33 a time or something like that. I would say they are reliable, professional and reasonable.

Gave me a quote and stuck to it. They said it would take 3 hours. My expectation was that the work should be easy and quick given they should have equipment that would easily trim weeds. I was expecting 1-2 hours work. The job was done well, just took too long. They ended up trimming back 30 feet along the 80 foot front.

After getting the quote of $500 dollars to come and trim bush's and remove some small shrubs I agreed and they were suppose to come on Thursday at 0900 to start the work. It just so happens I got off work early, and thank God I did. I arrived home at 3pm and I could see they had just started. They had begun trimming the hedge and butchered it up bad. I told the owner what I wanted done, and his workers either did not listen to him or he told them something I never told him. They butchered at least a good 10 feet of privacy hedgerow, that will take months to grow back (I hope). I told them to contact the company owner and tell him what they had done and to leave my property. I figured the owner would come by and assess the damage and offer some explanation. he never came by, called, or returned my message. So I messaged him what happened and I no longer require his companies services. Till now, he still has not contacted me regarding the mess his employees committed. I assume he dosent feel obliged to correct the mistake or to make amends. No matter, I would stay away from this company unless you want to be over charged and have you property destroyed.

Two people arrived on time. Had list of work with them. They were able to remove bushes and weeds and lay one strip of ground cover. They left 30 minutes early. Did not complete next item or items on list. Did not contact prior to leaving.

These guys were very prompt. I explained to them what I wanted and they went right to work on it. Two hours later my yard had curb appeal again!

They did okay. The service went fine.

It took a couple of days to coordinate the work. the crew arrived and focused on removing weeds in flower beds and along one side of the house public access along the sidewalk. The crew did not do any of the major weed removal in the yard or mow the entire yard. They did a great job on the flower bed, however they did not remove any grass or weeds form sidewalks drives or street access. When the job was complete it appeared that the focus was on the obvious easy areas that each person could take care of as individual tasks. the flower bed and side access looked great, the remaining areas of yard appeared to have no work done.

It went very well. We were always contacted within two business days, stated on Angie's List. We scheduled the first appointment via angle's list. The people arrived at our house on time and were busy the entire time. Their work was excellent. We schedule the second appointment which went as well. They hauled away the debris that was created by the work done. I would use them again.

They did a good job making my yard look tidy and with removing the weeds and trimming the trees. However, I had asked up front (via Angie's List) about also spraying with weed control to prevent weeds from coming back. When the men arrived, they did not bring any spray with them. So after they did their work, they left, and the weeds came back with a vengeance after the next couple of rains making me feel like I wasted my money on the cleanup. Also, I should have known from the fine print, but I expected someone to come for a full day's worth of work, but it was actually 2 guys who worked for 4 hours. They got everything done within the 4 hours except for the spraying. I probably would not hire again only because I don't think $37/hr was an exceptional deal for what I had done considering there was no weed spray applied and my weeds came right back.

The work was promptly scheduled and promptly completed. I wish I had known that hauling off the debris was not included. I wish I had been quoted a price for hauling at the time I scheduled. I have selected "No" to the question "Would you use this provider in the future, but I might change that if hauling prices were discussed with the provider and were found to be reasonable.

The overgrowth was extensive and the weeds thick, so they were not able to do the whole job with the tools they had. Would have been nice if they actually had a brush cutter, but they didn't so they couldn't clean the whole area. They did a good job on the area that they could finish in the time frame allotted.

They are very responsive and have used them in the past and will use them again.

Was ok. Not quite as good of results as I have had with them in the past.

The business contacted me fairly promptly and met my tight time schedule. Off to a positive start. The slide started when I got a message from the owner telling me of potential "charges for extra hauling" that might be incurred. At a steep enough rate that I thought it should have been in the print of the ad. The crew arrived about 15 minutes later than scheduled, not bad really as I had two other projects running so didn't mind the few minutes respite. The two person crew asked me what I wanted. This is where I had to rely on their expertise as landscapers. I needed the yard cleaned up, the shrubbery trimmed to look as good as it could as the house is on the market. My spouse normally does this task but I was the one on site so it was left to me. While it passed as OK by me, not all jobs getting done in the 7.5 hours they crew was here, it did not pass when she got home and saw what was done. I can only assume that one landscaper knew his job fairly well, while the other was either in training, didn't know what he was doing, or just didn't care. From my conversations with the two gentlemen, I don't think it the latter. I found both of them to be very positive and pleasant disposition. My wife showed me where two of three of her globe mallow plants were removed while weeds right next to those were left in place. The trimming of the evergreens was done improperly, more as you would trim a deciduous tree rather than an evergreen, while the evergreen shrubbery was beautifully done. I had asked that they bury the water lines that had become exposed. They did bury my most problematic one on the side of the house most used for access from front yard to back, but on the other side of the house they unburied all the dripper hoses and left them lying beside the house. A good part of this is my fault for not surveying the work and actually knowing what I should be looking for and seeing, but I put my trust in this company and to have to placate an angry wife for destruction of some of her hard work in the yard was disappointing at best. The owner did not show up to check the work, nor to the best of my knowledge attempt to contact me after the work was done. The quality of the work done was a pale comparison to what had been done 7 months ago by Extrascapes. Unfortunately for me, extrascapes didn't return my call so I went with one of the Big Deals. It isn't often I'm disappointed in an Angies List purchase, but this one is one of those I can't highly recommend.

Empire Yard Service people came on time and did everything we asked. They pulled weeds, they sprayed for weeds, they got rid of the trees that were popping up right next to the house's foundation. They were friendly and very professional and did such a great job that I will be contacting them tomorrow to schedule regular yard maintenance!!

They did a pretty good job. Something's needed tidying up and the area that the cactus was taken out could have been cleaned up better, but over all they did a great job. The owner is very nice and professional. I would call them again.
