They came and dug out the front yard - they thought they would have to do it by hand because of the size of the openings into the yard. Had minimal amount of dirt addition to side yard to make the section closest to the house higher. They then dug out the driveway several inches down and graded towards the street. They added the base course and spent a very long time compacting it. My sister was home and watched most of the day. She was impressed by how thorough they were. They then added gravel. We had agreed on 5/8 and about 2" depth. It was 3/4 and approximately 5" high in some places. Compaction was not possible. They did a few passes and were obviously ready for Friday evening. My sister watched them and was surprised that they were done so quickly compared to how long they had spent on the base course. This was disappointing because it made the driveway un-walkable and pulling the large trash and recycle bins to the street impossible. We tried to live with it. I intended to call them and got busy and never got back to them. I do feel very bad that I did not pay them but I kept thinking that I would call them 'next week'. It ended up being August when we touched base and I apologized for not getting back to them. I explained that we could not live with the driveway the way it was. I met with them and they understood what I was talking about and we agreed that they would remove a couple of inches and then compact again. They were so busy, and so was I, so it waited. And then they contacted me again in September saying they would come. So we agreed on a time so I could move vehicles. They came and removed the top layer of uncompacted gravel, compacted the rest and it is now BEAUTIFUL!! I paid them immediately. The whole time everyone was professional and patient although I am sure I was a pain in their....They did not charge me extra for coming back, although I do hope they recoup their money by selling the extra gravel. It rained very heavily this summer with the monsoons and my garage did not get flooded. It was great. They did a good job, and were courteous throughout, even with my bad behavior.. Cleaned up after themselves so that the street was always clean. I know that had the right amount of gravel been added, the compaction that they did would have been enough, but only so much gravel can sink into the layer below. I would use them again because they are extremely professional and my experience with them was overall very good.
