+ -1 moreJob 1 - Company offered to do a free water checkup on our Culligan water softener and the first guy said we needed a re-bed. So I scheduled a re-bed job but the technician said our water was soft and he recommended we wait. So I sent him off. A few weeks later I got a bill for the technicians visit and I called to dispute the charge and they said they’d write it off. Next month I got another bill so I called and after some haggling got the manager to agree to write it off. Job 2 - I scheduled a quote at another property for a new water softener to be installed. I waited hours but the guy never showed and never called. I don’t think I’ll do business with this outfit in the future. Big disappointment.

+ -1 moreI was going to use their services; I got prices, scheduled it, and then I was told that because it was going to be such a difficult job, they were going to charge for two guys to come out and they sent one. I said "no - I'm being charged for two, I want two because this is a difficult job." And it turned out to be even harder. I knew what they were doing. It would have been harder. They sent one guy but charged for two and didn't say anything to me about being charged for two, so this isn't going to be good. They don't tell the truth. They have you rent their equipment for a certain amount of time, so over time, the $4,000 was about what it would cost. I fired them.

+ -1 moreRepresentative was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Provided a quote for a system that fit my needs. Eventually installed a Kinetico non-electric softener that was slightly more expensive because I had a personal preference for that technology. This Culligan system was my second choice and would have been a fine solution for me. Would not hesitate to do business with this company in the future.

Description of Work: The rep couldn't answer any technical questions about our water or the system he wanted to sell us. After some web searching, we found a much bigger and better unit at Lowes for about a third the cost. A local service guy installed it in our home for about $400 and it has worked flawlessly. | |I am disappointed in Culligan for having sales people that are un-knowledgeable and such high prices. In this case, you do not get what you pay for.

+ -1 moreEver since contracting with Culligan the Sales Manager has been nasty and unprofessional. The staff is excellent. I was unable to establish a dialogue on pricing with the sale manager throughout several years and finally terminated the service. The product and service employees were fine, just the manager who has anger problems.

Description of Work: Our home was built 14 years ago and at that time our builder added a Culligan Water Softener system. Over the years the system performed allright. About two years ago the conditoner was not working and it took numerous phone calls to get a service rep out to take a look at it. When the rep finally arrived, he had a very poor attitude and stated that he had to replace the water softener. He replaced the broken system with a reconditioned old looking water softener. When we asked how we can check the water to see if the system is working he told us we can go to a store and buy a test kit. Late evening on 1-16-2012 we noticed a steady drip from the by-pass valve on the water softener that left a puddle of water on the garage floor. On Tuesday morning 1-17-2012 I called Culligan Water Conditioner and reported the problem. The woman in the office told me that someone would be out later in the day to fix the problem, since the drip rate had increased and I was changing out towels frequently to soak up the water. I waited all day, never received a call that service was coming. This morning Wednesday, 2-18-2012 after having a water mess in the garage I called Culligan again and I am cancelling my Water Softener rental. I have a leak caused by their equipment, yet the company does not respond. This is certainly not a company I will ever do business with again. I will be going out and buying my own Water Softener. Culligan Water stated they will be here next Monday to pick up the their defective unit.

+ -1 moreWe moved into our house in early July and wanted to be sure our R.O. system was working properly and had clean filters. The Culligan tech, John, arrived on time and immediately set to work testing the water and checking the filters. The R.O. system has a 2 gallon resevoir that needed to be emptied in order to clean the system properly and John had no problem with my request to transfer the water to a bucket so I could water my plants! When he finished with the R.O. system, he asked if we had a Culligan water softener as well. When I indicated we did, he offered to take a look for no extra charge to be sure it was programmed correctly and was functioning well. He discovered that the programming was incorrect and the system was not providing sufficient soft water to the house. He quickly solved the problem and was even kind enough to show me how to reprogram everything in case of a power outage. Also, when I made the appointment, the receptionist gave me accurrate price quotes on the service as well as parts that may be needed. It certainly was appreciated so the $90 main membrane replacement was not a shock!

+ -1 moreIf you can help it do NOT use this company! They are very negligent and careless toward their customers. The girls that answer the phones are always very friendly and appear to be trying to help, however things do not seem to happen the way they say. For example, if they hire a new driver and for some reason that driver decides he just can't find your house, they will simply not deliver your filter tank and then also never call to let you know. This has happened more than once. You have to babysit the hell out of getting them back out, which usually will take a week or more and has even taken a whole month. The same thing will happen if they deliver a faulty tank (has also happened more than once) and you ask for a replacement to be sent. Good luck with that. They can't be bothered with customer service or fixing their own errors on their time. If they screw up, you WILL WAIT. Do yourself a big favor and use someone else or buy and maintain your own filter tank if you can.
Description of Work: They were hired to deliver a monthly water filter tank. Sometimes randomly they decide they suddenly can't find your house and don't deliver or call. They will never go out of their way to make sure you get that tank. You will first have to call them. They constantly promise resolutions that never happen. Also if they deliver a bad tank and you need to request a replacement, they will tell you it is on it's way that day, but it never is. I keep wanting to believe them because they sound real nice on the phone, but someone is either compulsively lying or not doing their job over there. These kinds of things will happen repeatedly over the course of a year; it is not a random occurrence for them to screw up and not care or try to resolve it. Meanwhile you will wait with your hard water until they get around to basically doing what you contracted them to do. Extremely POOR SERVICE.

+ -1 moreTHIS COMPANY IS VERY POLITE, PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, AND VERY CUSTOMER ORIENTED. THE PRODUCT IS VERY GOOD AND WORKS WONDERFULLY. WE HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE IT WAS INSTALLED FOUR MONTHS AGO.

+ -1 moreWE ARE ONLY RENTING, BUT I THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY PERSONABLE AND FRIENDLY. THE PRICE WAS EXTREMELY FAIR. THEY DELIVER THE SALT EVERY MONTH. SO WE DON'T HAVE TO LUG IT AROUND. SO FAR SO GOOD.
