Their workers are so experienced that they know what they are doing. They come and they do everything efficiently and everything runs well after they have been here. They are very reliable and have good communication. They have an office with a nice secretary and receptionist and they are always in contact with you. They have been around a long time. They can't give you an exact time, they will tell you between 12 and 3 or whatever but they are really good about it. Yes, I certainly will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: They turned off the heat and check the air conditioner. They clean it and make sure there are no leaks.

The person who took my reservation didn't ask what kind of tabs I wanted. I was kind of surprised when they arrived with the ones that are cut to fit and I didn't like the way they smelled. The smell went away after a day or two. I do not have a price comparison. They were the only company who would come out to look at my previous swamp cooler to see if they could fix it. They were able to fix it so I got 3 or 4 more years out of that one. I got my new swamp cooler from them. I figured I would continue to use them until I get a really bad experience.

They are very good. I have two furnaces and two outside coolers so they have to shut down the coolers, the two of them and have to clean the filters and turn on the air conditioners. They did that. I've had them for almost 15 years. They are really excellent. Their people are very professional, very skilled and their stuff in the office is very nice. Their prices are quite reasonable. In fact they are better than a lot of other fancier conditioner people in town. I've used them for 15 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We've used Courtesy for many years and we know most of the staff. It's important to have trust and confidence in people who are going through your house and crawling under it. Dana at the front office is always very polite and accommodating. Charles and Philip came out to replace the old swamp cooler and had a crane bring it to the second story. I'm sure it cost them more than Charles had quoted me, but he said he was concerned about his crew getting hurt on the job and I really appreciate that in a supervisor. They got the new Master Cool all hooked up and it works great. 2 days later I had a water leak bubbling up in my front yard and Dana worked most of the day trying to get someone out, even calling other plumbers to see if they could sub-contract it out for me. I know they are short-handed, but Curtis came, met 2 other men and Charles came out, at 4 PM. They all dug a large hole and put a temporary fix on the main water line. They explained that they are very short-handed due to workers' injuries and don't have the manpower to dig up the line, so I'm having another company recommended to trench it and hopefully not do too much damage to my landscaping- which I just had done 2 years ago. I highly recommend Courtesy to any friends and neighbors who ask for advice on who to call.

Since Courtesy has been doing all of the plumbing, heating, AC, and electrical work on our 11 rental houses (plus our own house) since June of 2007 it dawned on me that it was high time I reported our experience with them to Angie's List. We started asking them to do our work when we discovered the company we had been using was cheating us--charging us for supplies they hadn't actually used, etc. Courtesy has done everything from small stuff like replacing faucets and unclogging sinks and toilets to installing new furnaces and AC's, running new electrical circuits, cleaning out sewer lines, excavating for and installing new water and sewer lines, and other impressive feats. They're fast without being slipshod, their charges are fair, and if they make an occasional slip-up, they rectify it. They maintain a small and competent staff and run a tight ship. Both Charles and Curtis, the owners, work the same hours as the rest of the crew and take their turns at being the emergency response person on the weekends. The whole bunch, including Dana and Gloria, the dispatchers, are unfailingly pleasant, accommodating, and friendly. It's hard not to believe that they all think we (and, I'm sure, their other clients) are part of their own families. We have certainly come to feel that they are all part of our family (and our tenants love them, as well).
Description of Work: Tested and turned off furnaces and started up AC's for 12 houses (11 rental properties plus our own house). We have a service agreement with Courtesy for an annual fee of $3022. In the spring they shut down the furnaces and start up the AC's. In the fall they shut down the AC's and start up the furnaces. At the same time they make any necessary repairs or part replacements for the cost of materials and, if extensive work is necessary, for labor.

The owner came to give a free quote; his name is George. He quoted me $1350.00 to $2205.00 to replace William's wall heater with fan in bedroom (depended on BTU of unit), recommended (strongly) replacing convection wall heater in living room. All the wall heater in bedroom needed was a wall thermostat and at the time of the quote, no thermostat was connected (I didn't know this). Wall heater in living room just needed a regulator assembly. Now I know why he just stood there staring at the bedroom wall heater and never asked me where the thermostat was located in the room (I had boxes against some of the bedroom walls up too the ceiling because I had just moved in). How can anyone quote a new wall heater when they never found the thermostat? There was an ignitor wire that had been cut but he didn't bother to reconnect it. Another plumber came in a few days later and had the bedroom wall heater running within 5 minutes and didn't charge me anything since he was going to be repairing the living room wall heater, which Courtesy Plumbing (strongly) recommended replacing, along with the exhaust stack. That would have likely cost thousands more (it was not on the quote I received since I wasn't sure I wanted to have it replaced). Courtesy would have had me pay them about $3k to replace two wall heaters that wound up costing me $575 (total) after the smoke cleared. $575 vs $3000 ... IMO George is a rascal, more accurately a shyster (at least for this quote and one other I see an 'F' for on Angie's List review. Seems someone gave Courtesy Plumbing an 'F' for trying to charge DOUBLE what they had quoted - tried to charge for parts not used, etc. I have the Courtesy Plumbing quote if you need a copy and the heater that needed just a thermostat is clearly used and still hanging on my wall - fee free to come over an confirm what I have shared. Courtesy Plumbing is ripping off people and it needs to stop. Your website shows them to be safe, but they were not. I now have serious questions about the Angie's List service ('family' pumped up reviews, etc). I will now be contacting the BBB regarding Courtesy Plumbing of Albuquerque

[member name removed], We were called out to give you an estimate on replacing one wall heater and one Direct vent heater in a vacant home. We were there prior to the purchase of the home and you stressed that you needed a replacement price as soon as possible so you could present it at closing later that same day. It was my understanding that we were there only to give you an estimate on replacing the heaters, which you could accept or not, as you pleased. You brought it to my attention that the thermocouple was cut. I looked at it and told you it was the ignition wire and we could repair both units ( if they were repairable) if you preferred. (Repairs could be done only if approved by the current owner of the property) At that time you were only interested in getting the quote for closing. (The exhaust stack you are referring to is included as noted on the proposal under "New Venting." The Direct Vent heater comes with a new termination kit . There would have been no additional charges for venting.) Finally, I wonder if we have been confused with someone else. We have never had anyone by the name of George working here. However I will be more than happy to answer any questions or clear up any concerns you may have. We do our best to take care of our customers' needs in the safest, most efficient manner and as economically as possible. Charles

Kurtis has been amazing. He came and visited me at the hospital when I was sick. He didn't even know me and he came to visit me twice. I gave him the keys to my house so he could go and see what the other company had done and try to fix the problem. I had a Venmar fresh air exchanger and April Air Whole house system for humidification installed. The company that installed it didn't use enough copper piping to save money. My entire closet ended up flooding ruining everything. My clothes, my medicine and everything else. He called the Canadian company that makes the Venmar fresh air exchanger and asked everything he needed to know about setting it up. He then installed a new vent in my house for it and walked me through using it. He fixed everything that needed to be fixed with the whole house humidifier. Everything the company before installed 2 years ago had not even been working this entire time. It is now all fixed and it's made such an impact of my house and my life. This company is very very busy and they made a lot of time for me when no other company would. I will use them over and over and recommend them to anyone

My husband always called Courtesy and knew quite a few of their servicemen. The serviceman who arrived was very courteous. He checked the odor issue and recommended a biologic drain treatment, which he purchased and brought back to me. He had the wrong kind of thermostats, so he had to go out and buy 2 of those as well. The thermostats were billed at almost $80 each. The same brand is listed for $39.99 on Amazon, selling for $31.99, so I paid about double ( I checked after the fact). He had to call another serviceman to help him with the older thermostat, as there was some problem with the wiring. There was a wait for the other person to arrive. The Labor cost was $176, but there wasn't any note of the number of hours or hourly rate, as their invoices in the past have had this listed. I'm not sure how much I paid for the driving around and waiting for the other person. The drain still smells after using the treatment several times, and I don't know what to do about that. The thermostats work fine though. Since we've used Courtesy so often over the years, I will probably have them come out again and check my heaters and coolers.

As usual, the employees arrived on time and did a great job on all aspects of the project, for both electrical and plumbing. We have known these guys a long time, and are very comfortable leaving them keys to our houses when we are not able to be there. The work was done well, just in time to get our tenant moved in, and they cleaned up after they were done. We also appreciate their receptionists, who were always friendly and willing to try to help us with scheduling. We will continue to use Courtesy in the future, and have recommended them to our friends and family as well.
Description of Work: We have used Courtesy many times over the last 4 years for both our home and our rental property. Charles and Curtis really came through for us this last time, as we needed unexpected and last minute plumbing and electrical work done on our rental property. They were able to work us in to their very bust schedule, and the work was done well and just in time for our tenant to move in. The house was built in the 1940's and needed a complete wiring upgrade, with new outlets and fixtures. The bathroom needed a new toilet, sink, and shower valves, in addition to repairs needed on the hot water heater. Previously, Courtesy also did a wonderful job converting both our home, and our rental property, to refrigerated air.

Anthony was here on time and immediately went to work to find the problem. We had no hot water to the tub in the hall bathroom. He found a build-up due to non-use and he cleaned it out and replaced the cartrige in the valve. He wasted no time during the job and did a complete clean-up when finished. The biggest expense was the price of the part ($81.70) which was almost as much as the labor ($88.00). I would recommend this company. I know that they have done work at our church and also at one of our son's homes and we have always been pleased with their work.

Had a substantial sudden water leak in the master bathroom toilet area. Dana of Courtesy A/C, Heating, Plumbing and Electrical sent Anthony to assess and make any necessary repairs. Anthony immediately assessed the situation and said he could make a minor repair and that this would resolve the problem. We asked Anthony several questions about and quot;efficiency toiletsand quot; etc. and in our opinion he gave us very direct, specific, knowledgeable and valuable information. We decided that for us a new toilet was most appropriate. Anthony quickly secured quotes and we opted to have him get us and install a Toto toilet in the master bathroom. He proceeded to install the toilet, he replaced the angle stop, he tested the entire area for leaks and cleaned the entire area. Anthony in our estimation is a master craftsman in his field and did and amazing, meticulous and very professional job. We have used Courtesy in the past; but, this experience serves to reinforce what an ethical and professional business Courtesy A/C, Heating, Plumbing and Electrical is and that we will plan to us their services again and again and that we will continue to recommend them to our family and friends.

They canceled appointments and then showed up late for an estimate. That was a waste of time because when they showed up late to do the work the price DOUBLED!!!!! I was billed for parts that were not used, a system that was not operational when the tech left blaming the electrician- BUT the electrician said he could not believe the HVAC tech didn't know how to flip on the main disconnect!!!! He went back and forth to the truck empty handed - like he didn't know what he was doing.. When I asked the company WHY they doubled the estimate, charged me for parts not used and left the system in an NONoperating condition, they sent me another bill. DO NOT USE THIS COURTESY PLUMBING!!!!!
Description of Work: DO NOT count on this company to show up on time, stick to their quote or finish the job. DO expect this company to cancel and be late REPEATEDLY, DOUBLE the cost of the estimate and leave before the system is working. Response from Courtesy Plumbing Heating & A/C Inc
Angies’ List Response to this client Your scheduled service arrival window was June 8, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We arrived at 12:06 PM. We never canceled or rescheduled this appointment. You had a heating and cooling system installed by family members and others that did not complete the job. When we arrived to look at the job for an estimate I met with your son and gave him two prices one if we ran the copper line set in the attic, the other if he were to install them, at that time I explained to him how they needed to be run to the equipment, we received a call a few days later informing us to go ahead with the job and that they choose to run the lines. Upon arrival I reviewed the status and scope of the work that was done, at that time I noticed the lines were not done as explained in the initial estimate, at that time I contacted the owner and informed her there would be an additional charge.(approx. 100.00 ) The original bid was 300.00 to 400.00. She gave me approval to complete the work to get the unit operational. I corrected the wiring errors to the unit, and as you are aware the copper line was haphazardly strung across the attic with numerous kinks that required alignment and numerous fitting. Your unit was operational and the testing pressures acceptable when I left. The final bill was 475.00 not doubled as you stated We do not dispute you furnished some parts that we installed, however, you did not have the copper fittings, nitrogen or diagnostic tools and equipment to start up the unit. The $50.00 charge applied to your invoice for the materials is reasonable by industry standards. If the unit was non-operational as stated, Courtesy Plumbing, Heating & A/C takes customer satisfaction seriously and additional charges would not have been charged. In addition, we sent one invoice for $475.00 plus tax, not two.

I had the appointment schedule between 9-noon. They called the day before to confirm my appointment. At 8:55 the gentleman was at the door! I showed him where the water line to the cooler was, the heater and the cooler thermostat and he went straight to work. After 45 minutes he came in, showed me what he had done, asked if I had questions, answered all of them and we settled the bill. We've had problems with the cooler "shorting out" at the end of the season last year, so I had him check it and he replaced a wire that the coating was cracking on and put in a new fuse. It was a pleasure to have someone (a) turn up on time, (b) be pleasant, (c) efficient, (d) and have someone who made me feel comfortable enough to ask questions. We've used Courtesy for toilet installations, putting new wiring in our garage, and our water heater. When my mother came out of the hospital and we requested her heating be turned on, they came out the same day to take care of it with no extra charge. Ask them what all they do -- we were surprised about running the electrical and have found they do many other things as well! Great people to do business with!
