Badly. They were supposed to arrive a t 8:am. Didn't. Called to say they would arrive at 10:30. Didn't. Said they would arrive by 2:00 pm. At this point, after another no show I called someone else. The BTY arrived at 2:15 or so, indignant and insulting. I maintain that six hours past the scheduled arrival time is not good service. The owner wrote a rather nasty e-mail, vowing never to work for me again. Fat chance.

The repair went well. Only concern was that it took a couple of days for the company to respond to my initial phone call.

He was supposed to arrive at 8am. Called and he said he would be there by 10. He didn't end up getting here until 2:30, by which time I had already found another company to do the work. He just seemed rather rude during our correspondence, and we will not be doing any future business.

Very well. I was shown how to program the controller and found out that I had one zone with a valve that was shot. Also talked about potential landscaping for the front and side yards. Had some very good ideas. I later talked to a realtor who assured me that this man is one of the top-rated in the area.

Outstanding work, professional. Prompt and fair. Will use no one else from now on.

Fast and done right. Took a slop job from another company and fixed the system. We will not use anyone else from now on.

Went great. Called in the morning, left a message, call was returned in a few hours, and Brad was able to swing by in the afternoon to take a look (I only had the one day off so this was really helpful). He inspected the area with a leak and was able to replace the cracked valve on the spot for a reasonable price. Another company had been out previously and had given me a quote for 5 times the price Brad quoted (which was unknown to him at the time). The work was completed that day. Very happy with the service.

This company was prompt, thorough, and cleaned up after their work-- could barely even tell part of my lawn had been torn up. The owner came back a few days later to correct my mistake on the settings on new controller also. Would highly recommend them to anyone who puts a lot of time and care into their yard.

The service was o.k. I called for service and it took awhile for someone to get back with me. Once we scheduled an appointment, they arrived 20 minutes early (we prefer on-time). I let them review the issue. Before I knew it, the controller was replaced with no notice. It would have be nice to know what the problem was and the estimate to decide if we wanted to proceed with fixing the problem. No estimate was given or explanation until everything was "fixed". Also, no invoice was given at the time of service which is what I am used to. I am hoping one will be mailed soon. It is really hard to get a hold of folks. Customer service was just not there....

Service did not go well. Installed controller box with out confirming cost and type that was installed.

I highly recommend By The Yard Landscaping and Irrigation! We had an automated sprinkler system, but our lawn had died about four years ago and it hadn't been used since then. We recently planted new grass seed to try to get our lawn back. We were going to go on vacation soon and needed to get our automated sprinkler system working again. I called By The Yard and they were able to get Brad out the very next day! (I had called a couple of other companies to get estimates as well. One couldn't come for over a week and the other said it would be two weeks before they could even give me an estimate.) Brad came out and said that he could get the work done that day, so I hired him. He installed the new timer (which we definitely needed). Unfortunately, since the system hadn't been used in four years, when he turned on the water we realized that the pipe that goes to the sprinkler system had apparently frozen and gotten a leak at some point. Water started coming out of the side of that pipe. Brad got the water turned off and said that I would have to get a plumber out to replace that pipe section. This was definitley not anything he had done wrong. It was just an old busted pipe. He left and I had a plumber come out to replace this section. Brad was able to come out to finish the job as soon as I called him two days later. The job ended up being a little more expensive than I originally thought, but that was because he had to come out twice (again...not his fault at all). Once the work was done, I was so pleased! We really like the new timer. My sprinklers work great and my lawn is nice and green! Thanks, Brad! I will definitely call By The Yard if I need more work on my irrigation system! If you need any sprinkler work done, give them a call!

They did an excellent job on my back yard irrigation. It wasn't cheap, but the quality is there. I can hardly believe what a difference it makes to have the whole thing on a timer now.

We called Brad to come check our sprinkler system (front yard xeriscaping, back yard lawn and back raised gardens) to get them ready for spring. He and his helper made sure all the connections were working and providing water, and replaced several sprinkler heads on the back yard to make them more water-efficient and give better coverage. He recommended the schedule we should use for watering during the spring and summer, and said he would come back any time we need him to. I told him I'd like to have him come out every spring to troubleshoot the system for us. He actually called and asked if he could come out a day earlier than we had had scheduled. He and his helper were in and out within an hour. He charged $50 for his helper, which I thought was very fair, since the helper was crawling all over the rocks in the front yard to get to the sprinkler heads! We were VERY pleased with the service and he is now our favorite sprinkler repair guy/landscape maintenance dude.

Brad was excellent. He found where the main shut off valve was for the irrigation system (it had been winterized by the previous owner and covered by rocks). He trimmed trees, bushes and removed two (sadly) dead aspens from our courtyard. He also cleaned up all leaves and debris from the roof and grounds. He sent his weed fellow out to spray for weeds. All work was A+ but we will have to have some weeds re-sprayed (tough weeds). Next time we will request to have them pulled rather than sprayed.

Love the Service!! Called several places for quotes. Brad actually returned my call and his team was on time. I appreciate a company that doesn't give a customer a "window" of when they will be there. The tech took time to figure out that problem, speak to my husband about it and quickly fixed the issue. They left everything clean when they were done. I would recommend By The Yard to anyone who is looking to be treated fairly.

Best experience ever for sprinkler service. Professional both on the phone in scheduling and in person on the Job. Prompt arrival based on promised time and repair was done quickly/efficiently with a very reasonable billing. Will definitely use again and already recommended to 2 others.

A total of 350 square footage of paver splendor. Owner Brad Jacobsen provided my husband and I with a quote to install two patios in the backyard using Belgard Dublin Cobble pavers (color: Bella). He asked about our vision for the yard and provided feedback. We liked his personality and appreciated the time he spent with us bouncing ideas around; we knew he was the person for the job straight away! The first patio comes out of the back door over an existing small concrete patio (Brad's brilliant idea!) where it ends in a curved rainbow shape. Second patio was installed against an existing seating area. Brad and his team are professional, prompt, and diligent. The patios are Perfect! We couldn't ask for better service or a better outcome. Excellent work! And Thank you!

I've used them before and I had them back out to fix my irrigation system. They did a wonderful job and will continue using them in the future.

Awesome! Called By the Yard Sprinkler Repair because the vendor who broke the line failed to respond to repeated calls and texts. Called in the morning and they were at the house ready to work 10 minutes before the appointed time that afternoon. Went right to work. Repaired a badly leaking pipe in front sprinkler system. Showed me the removed portion of pipe the was badly smashed (2" long crack) and four other places where a shovel had hit the pipe. They arrived, dug up the area where it was damaged, removed the damaged pipe, replaced it, made sure I was satisfied with the repair filled in the dug up area and made it like they were never even there; all in less than an hour! Courteous, efficient, professional in every sense of the word.

If we could do A Pluses we would do it. It was a great experience working with Brad and his crew, they were the best. We gave Brad a rough idea of what we wanted and he came up with a design and plant list that we followed. It turned out better than what we had hoped for. They installed a new sprinkler system for our remaining grass and a drip irrigation system for all our new and existing plants.The crew was hard working, respectful, and eager to answer any questions we might have, and did an excellent job of clean-up when the job was complete.The price was very competitive. There is not a single negative I can come up with, and would highly recommend this company for any landscaping or sprinkler job you might have.

A wonderful experience! After we explained that we had a zone failing and what we had done to workaround the failed zone, Brad meticulously checked all possible causes for the failure (the control panel, the valves, the solenoids etc). He was able to systematically rule out possible causes and determine the trouble was with the wiring that went over our roof. He showed us how the wiring had deteriorated over time from being exposed to the sun. He replaced the section of wire and reconnected the control panel. All our zones work now. Brad was efficient, extremely personable and easy to work with. We know if we have any issues with our system in the future, we will call on him!

"By the Yard Landscaping and Irrigation" ("By the Yard") removed old sod from our front yard and replaced it with new on May 7, 2015, requiring, according to "By the Yard," significant tiller work and replacement of soil/sod. During routine yard maintenance (mowing and pruning) performed by another company in July, 2015, two fairly large leaks were discovered in 1/2 inch drip lines several inches below the surface of our yard. Both lines appeared to have been damaged by either a shovel or a tiller. Once the cause of the leaks was discovered, I immediately called Mr. Brad Jacobsen of "By the Yard" to notify him of the discovered damage to my pre-existing drip lines, as no other apparent cause could conceivably be ascertained. Mr. Jacobsen became quite irate on the phone, yelling that this could not possibly be the result of damage his company caused. He did agree, however, to come out to investigate and arrived in a little over one hour. At the time of investigation, Mr. Jacobsen was calmer and reasonable, and he advised us that the damage was "not from a shovel but from our tiller." We negotiated and arrived at an agreement for his company to reimburse me for the cost of diagnosing and repairing the drip lines. Subsequent to this encounter, Mr. Jacobsen called me, asserting that the yard maintenance company we had utilized was not licensed. I was told that thereby, "By the Yard" could not reimburse me said amount, as this would be "violation of the law." I further engaged Mr. Jacobsen in a conversation regarding our excess water usage (our bill was nearly $400 monthly). Mr. Jacobsen refused to reimburse water over-usage charges resulting from the leaking lines, and then even retracted his earlier statements of responsibility for his company's damage to our drip lines. I responded to Mr. Jacobsen that I would be reporting his business to the BBB (which I have done) and Angie's List. Mr. Jacobsen then called me, was aggressive and even yelling. When I advised him that he was on speaker phone with other family members, Mr. Jacobsen offered to pay $80 for damaged lines (the cost of the repair was more than double this) but not for excess water usage. I noted that due to the amount of rain we received this year, in addition to having less occupancy in our home, the excess water usage was demonstrably directly attributable to the leaking lines (water running down the street!). In sum, had Mr. Jacobsen and his company performed due diligence during the job and once his work was performed, no damage to lines would have occurred, or at minimum, the leaking lines would have been discovered at post-work inspection. To date I estimate the total cost of sod work for our 720 sq. feet front yard plus damages and excess water usage to be $2500. Most troubling was Mr. Jacobsen's behavior throughout this ordeal. I expect professionals to act calmly, fairly, and non-aggressively, and this was most certainly not the case. I do not recommend that anyone use this company. As I write this review, I am fearful of retaliation by Mr. Jacobsen and company.

It went very well, they came on time, and fixed some of the heads that were broken. He also referred someone to me who'd be able to help with a disease my bushes were being attacked by.
