My experience went fairly well. Brad, the owner and Chris the repair guy are both friendly, personable people that are pleasant to work with. Our system had a lot of problems and Chris spent about 2 hours going over it all and fixing everything. But after he left and I turned on the system, one of the hoses sprung a leak. Chris came back 30 minutes later and fixed it. Less than a week later, there were more leaks. Chris came out, fixed them in 10 minutes and then was kind and patient enough to show me how to do it myself. I was a bit surprised to get a bill for that visit of $75.00! When I complained to Brad, explaining that it hadn't even been a week since they initially came out, we agreed to compromise and he charged me half that. I also asked for an estimate for adding more mulch, gravel and replacing the edging, but at around 2K it was too much for our budget.

I am xeriscaping my front yard, but wanted to do the design and planting myself. Brad came up with a great plan on how to get the yard ready for planting as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. His estimate was much less than the other companies who gave me estimates. After some miscommunication with the office, he and his crew came and did the entire project in 6 hours, and re-arranged his schedule to accomodate my availability. It looks great, he was careful to do what I wanted. I will use him next year for my back yard.

They were very professional, showed up right on time, took about 2 hours. I was not only impressed with the job they did, but the way in which they went about it. Most certainly will use them again, when needed.

I had a lot of dry places in our grass,also had two different kinds of sprinkler heads. Brad was very prompt after I contacted him and he explained the two different kinds of heads were not compatible and recommended replacing them with MP Rotator multi stream heads. Chris came out two days later and completed the job. Both Brad and Chris were very helpful and I feel were very honest in explaining what was wrong. They also gave me tips on watering the lawn and using the drip system, which I already had. I will definitely call By The Yard again for any future work. They were great.

Brad was fantastic! He came early, pinpointed the problem right away and fixed it on the spot. It took about 10 minutes and cost around $100. He's honest and professional, and his rates are extremely reasonable. I had called Just Sprinklers first and was told I had to replace the entire valve because it was too old and they couldn't get parts, plus they had to replace the metal pipes with plastic, to the tune of $700. Then the guy said that it would most likely mess up the rest of the valves, and would probably cost us an additional $2800 to fix just the ones I showed him in the backyard. AND THEY WEREN'T BROKEN YET. Brad pulled out the solenoid and replaced it with a new one from his truck, and said metal valves and pipes will last forever but solenoids wear out. Long story short: Brad's awesome. Just Sprinklers: not so much.

Brad arrived on the appointed day/time and immediately made a good impression. Even our rescue dog who hates pretty much everyone liked him. He took some basic measurements, looked at our ideas and began to ask questions about how we wanted to use our space. He then made some suggestions on how we could simplify our design and a great idea for our patio extension that we [and nobody else] had not even considered. It took a couple of days to get the estimate and sketches back, but we really liked the look and just as important Brad's energy and interest in the project. His numbers were within a percentage of others, but we just had a better feel about working with Brad. We chose to push our start date out about a month so that we could have work done on consecutive days instead of dragging it out over random days. Things were pretty quiet and then everything kicked in at once.....the equipment was dropped off, rock arrived, the pavers were unloaded and Brad and his crew were in full swing before the first cup of coffee was finished. As promised, the crew was in and out in three days with only a minor burp that was no fault of theirs. We couldn't be happier with how the whole process went and the results are spectacular. The only "other" we have to mention is Brad can be a little slow getting back to you answering a call or email. However, when he's working on your project instead of spending all the time on the phone you really appreciate it and it's not that big of an issue. But if you're one of those folks that needs that instant response, just focus on how much you're going to enjoy your new area while waiting. Hopefully this will be the last major landscaping project we have, but I would have no worries calling Brad and his crew for another project. Brad, Chris, Tavo and new guy....thanks for the great backyard.

The most professional contractor we have ever hired. Talked on Monday. Had quote by Wednesday and the yard was started on Monday. Done on Tuesday. Brought a team that was extremely professional. Sprinkler system was in by noon and all rock was in by 3:00. Sod being finished following day. Very reasonable and prompt.

My lawn had dry patches and I called By The Yard and scheduled Brad to come over and see what needed to be done to correct the situation. We discussed several options and I went with Brad's suggestion to replace the old style sprinkler heads with the MP Rotator: Multi-Stream nozzle heads since this style of sprinkler head would use 30% less water and was recommended by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Utility Authority. Brad purchased the necessary parts and came back that afternoon and changed out the old sprinkler heads with the new ones. Brad was able to come earlier then our scheduled time, he had additional suggestions for lawn care, he was honest and very professional. It was a pleasure working with Brad and I will hire him again for any of my landscaping and irrigation projects.

The work was carried out expertly for 31 sites over 75 foot frontage with a nicely restored landscape. A case of moderate price and high value product.

Excellent communication from start to finish...

I called By the Yard two times over a period of three days, leaving a message on a recorder each time. No one ever returned my phone call. After not receiving a call back, I went with another company.

The quote seemed reasonable and the work was done promptly.

By The Yard Landscaping & Irrigation have always responded promptly. They set the sprinklers for the seasons. They come whenever I call them for seasonal cleaning of leaves, trimming of shrubs and clean up of sprinklers. They have reasonable charges, they are not excessive. They have always solved my problems and always done a good job on the clean up and the trimming.

I called late Tuesday afternoon to make an appointment. A person came out the next afternoon to discuss the problem What a pleasant surprise to find out what had originally looked like a victim of the recent freezing temperatures was related to the outdoor faucet not the drip system. All was well plus he corrected my system program control settings. He then listened to my need to make the system self sufficient - not requiring hand watering with a hose in the front. He walked around the property and promptly came to me an estimate to meet my needs. The plan was simple and very reasonable compared to an estimate we had the previous year. All we had to do was extend the current system. The work was scheduled and completed the following afternoon by very pleasant, informative technicians. Now I am ready for the spring and look forward to having my trees and shrubs flourish. I plan to have them back next fall to replace a tree I had lost. There attention to detail and care of my property was greatly appreciated. Thank you By the Yard !!

By The Yard gave an estimate and ended up coming in about 100.00 less than the estimate. They were on time and did everything professionally. I got every thing I expected, I plan to use them again in the future.

My lawn sprinklers and drip system were not working properly so the plants and lawn were dying. Some of my plants had to be hand watered because they were not hooked up to the drip system. Brad figured out how to separate the drip system from the sprinkler system so the plants could get more water. They also set up the system to water all the plants. They pulled out some large old shrubs and filled it in so it looked clean and neat . They planted the tree and new shrubs and gave me instructions on how long to run the drip system during this exceptionally hot dry summer. When I e-mailed a question Brad responded promptly. I will definitely use them again.

Went extremely well. Got estimate Friday, electrician came Saturday, sprinkler box and drip system repairs accomplished Monday after 5pm (on way home from another job). Very happy with quality of work, professionalism, price, fitting us into tight schedule without extra charges for working after normal hours..

They were very efficient and had the job done well in a short time period. I discovered Mark had done work for me about ten years ago through another company and I was pleased at that time as well. The only thing I discovered was that my estimate was not accurate by his description from the work I actually asked him to do and I did not pay enough attention to that ahead of time. He had to add some money, but the addition was fairly modest. Be careful to be VERY specific and have Mark write every detail down on his estimate and then read immediately. Otherwise, they are also very good at follow-up if you have a problem.
