He was on time, concerned, and he listened. We liked that he did very little subcontracting. However, he was asking for 50% up front (almost $11,000) and $1500 per week until the job was done. We thought that was excessive and at that point, we were turned off to him and his company. His follow up was good, however.
Description of Work: We are doing a 1/2 bath, 8' x16' addition to the house. We contacted them about an estimate.

We thank you for your opinion, we believe we gave you a competitive price for your project which includes extending your kitchen, relocating appliances, water heater, washer & drier, kitchen sink, new pantry, new cabinetry and adding a ½ bath with a elaborate glass wall, the addition is 8’x 16’ which will require new concrete footing and slab, structure, roof, plumbing, electrical (upgrade to junction box required), insulation, door, windows and finish work to include trim work, paint etc. A new sewer line would have to be installed to facilitate the new addition 60' of sewer line piping, which would require demo of a portion of the driveway and replacement. I hope we were competitive as no mention was made to our proposal. Since you are not an established customer with us and we do not currently have the ability to run credit checks, for our new customers we do require a deposit to protect our exposure. We anticipated this project to complete in 2-3 weeks, and with such a short window all materials will need to be purchased on day one, this is why we require a deposit. The short schedule for completion only minimizes your inconvenience of the construction. We are sorry that this was the deterrent for you to select us and wish you well in your project.
