The old adage "you can't please everyone" is more relevant today than ever. Especially with instant access to sites like this, and this is what Jerome deals with on a daily basis. My project was completed on time as scheduled (and they actually got started the afternoon prior). The finished product was beyond my expectations and Jerome's effort to ensure customer satisfaction was the "icing on the cake". Yes it took longer than I initially anticipated, and I did have a few minor concerns. Taking his own personal time on a Saturday (that was meant for his son) to come out and conduct the walkthrough instead of waiting for the following week. Jerome listened patiently and in the end resolved my concerns, A very professional contractor whose sole concern is doing the job right the first time and customer satisfaction. If you understand and appreciate that there are usually unforeseen snags and/or delays in any endeavor...especially construction and are willing to be patient. Then you will be happy with any project done by Alliance Landscaping, Inc., because Jerome will not be satisfied until you are a satisfied customer. I look forward to Jerome handling my next home landscaping project.
Description of Work: Corrected a poorly designed driveway, removed and regraded approximately 200 sft of concrete for a very steep driveway, and installed a 17" culvert for proper water drainage. This allowed me access to my garage that I previously didn't have without damaging a standard sedan or low profile vehicle.

[member name removed], Thank you so much. You are a great person and really appreciate you taking the time to post your experience. I know that there have been many customers this summer who have waited for an extended amount of time to work with us this year. This has been the busiest summer we have had since 2007, and in all reality, we were not expecting it. The summer was a push and to all you very patient customers this year, We thank you very very much. We are far from perfect, but do indeed try to put our best foot forward on every project. We very much look forward to assisting you with your additional concrete and landscape projects. Thank you, Jerome Maldonado

They were hour and a half late for the estimate and they were way overpriced from the other two estimates that I got. I would not use them again.

Hi (member name removed), First my apologies for your experience. Would you be so kind a to allow us the knowledge of who you dealt with at Alliance Landscaping. We went back and checked our records back to March of 2013 and we could no find a file for your job. It is not normal for our staff to run an hour and a half behind on estimates, but it can happen. If this did happen, we contact all customers in a respectful time frame to allow to reschedule or to let them know timing of arrival. We have no record this customer unless it is under a different name than noted on this review. can you provide us the name and address on the top of your estimate? This will allow us the opportunity to be sure that we review the bid and service all customers to the best of our ability. We appreciate your assistance. Thank you

It took 2 months after I mailed 50% of the fee to get the work done. I was told there would be new plants placed and also transfer of some plants in pots to the ground but neither of these were performed. I feel $1000 for weeding trimming and mowing was exorbitant . I found this landscaper on Angie's list and was extremely disappointed . After my initial review on Angie's list the company owner contacted me several times by phone and email to see if he could "make it right". Part of my "unhappiness" was due to not understanding exactly what all work had been done. I do believe the company owner takes a lot of pride in his work. My biggest complaint is that he was extremely overextended to the point he could not get my job done expeditiously

(Member name removed), although we spoke extensively on the phone earlier today and I stopped by your residence to walk your project, I wanted to pay the respect of responding to you on Angie’s List as well. I know that you had to wait 6 weeks for your clean up and install, which is yes a very long wait. We want to thank all our customers who have patiently waited for our crews this past June and July. This has been our busiest season since the recession. A very positive problem to have. We have made needed adjustments to accommodate our customers and are now scheduling back to our three- four week time frame. (Member name removed), I know that you missed the plants we installed for you on your walk through, but know that you will be pleased to find that the men did indeed replace two of your compromised plants. After looking at your potted plants, I made an onsite decision to refrain from having the men plant them for you. The plants were in a very distressed state and a few of them were dead. I know that your recent move to New Mexico comes with some seasonal changes as well as some major landscape differences due to our very dry climate. We would be happy to assist you with any questions needed to help you get with your recent move and allow you to maintain a successful landscape. Being that the Men were out at your residence on July 5th, 2013, we were working with no office staff from the 4th to the 7th of July. This did not allow for us to schedule our final walk through yet, which we do on every project. We were very surprised to see such a quick review on Angie’s list on the afternoon of July 5th just after the men left. I was happy to receive an e-mail from you on the evening of the 5th and responded on the afternoon of the 6th. Upon discovering that that you were dissatisfied with the work, I quickly responded both by telephone and took the personal time to drop my weekend early and run down to your house on a Sunday afternoon to walk your yard and look at the finished product. (Member name removed), I am writing this reply on Sunday evening at 10:42pm on July 7th. We did receive your 50% down payment over six weeks ago, but we have still not deposited your initial check, nor have we invoiced your final payment. We do not retain payment from any customer until the job is considered 100% complete. That means that you must be 100% satisfied. It is not about securing payment from a client as much as it is about securing a customer’s satisfaction. I think that most customers seek a reliable company that will stand behind their work and their word. I hope that we have demonstrated the willingness to do both of those for you. We are always happy to assist and if there is any time that something is left less than satisfactory, we are always happy to assist in resolving the issue. We would hope that our immediate response to your questions and concerns would change your feeling about the professionalism of our company and the quality of your performed work. We are in hope that our continued willingness to assist you with your concerns would look kindly on a more desired review. We appreciate you as a customer and respect your concerns.

We got several bids for the work. Alliance's bid was not the lowest but Jerome's expertise and emphasis on customer service convinced us that the extra cost would be reflected in quality. We were not disappointed. The crew showed up on time and completed the work in a timely manner. Jerome, while not on the scene constantly, did a good job of overseeing the project. A few misunderstandings were quickly resolved to our satisfaction and things we felt were not quite right were quickly fixed.

We had Alliance Landscaping, Inc. install a retaining wall for us in 2011. The staff was very kind and did a great job on our wall. Almost two years later we were excited to find that Alliance Landscaping was still doing fine and were excited to have them come out to assist us on our 2nd phase of our project. Jerome Maldonado came out and assisted us with ideas and options. He was very patient and came back on several occasions to help us with changes and questions. The project was completed in late March and just looks fabulous. We were so excited with the finished product. We just utilized our new outdoor living space for our sons graduation party in May and got many compliments from friends and family. There were a couple minor details that had to be addressed after the completion of the project. Jerome communicated that they had been a little busy, but to be patient and they would get our punch list taken care of. The following week a few gentlemen came out and addressed all our items of concern and even helped us reset our irrigation timer for summer time. We would highly recommend Alliance Landscaping, Inc. to all our friends and family. They have been a pleasure to work with. We look forward to working with them for phase III which will be a new custom waterfall.

In July of 2012, Jerome came out to give us an estimate for a raised flower bed along the back wall of our yard (the same one that was the reason behind having him install the drip system along the wall). He gave me a rough estimate for the wall, fill dirt, decorative rock, and sod. I told him that we were going to try and work everything into our budget towards the end of summer. On August 7th, I contacted Jerome via email to schedule the work for the end of September/first of October. We were going to try and add to the block wall in the backyard and possibly move a neighbors tree into our yard. He got me the estimate right away. We went back and forth via email on setting up a date for the install. The last email was August 13th when I requested that Megan call to confirm everything and get me an estimate. I never heard back. On September 22nd, I emailed Jerome to let him know we were a week out of the install and had not received a written estimate from them yet. I never heard back, so on the 27th, I sent another email (along with unreturned phone calls) requesting a written estimate and a review of where we were going to lay the sod. I never got an email or phone call, but woke up on the morning of the 28th and noticed that there were paint lines for the sod for a much larger space than what we wanted. We called Jerome and emailed regarding the situation and he told me to buy a can of paint and respray them myself. We were hoping for better customer service, but I guess chasing him around to get an estimate and pay him over $5000 for a landscaping job was p****** him off to the point he didn't want to deal with us. So on September 29th, the Friday evening before they were to start on Monday, when we finally got the contract, we had had enough. He had stated that they had sent the contract on Monday the 22nd which was a discrepancy as Monday was the 24th. Not sure what was going on at this point, but we felt queasy thinking about writing a check to cover over $5000 to someone who didn't even have the courtesy to go over the landscaping plans with us in person before they came out. We cancelled the job the evening of the 29th because we were uncertain about what to expect when the crew showed up on Monday. We finally busted out the project ourselves and added sod this last March. We contacted Jerome again in March and asked him about coming out and adjusting the sprinkler heads to fit the space (the grass was in the same space that he was going to install sod). He told us that he would charge us around $200 to adjust the sprinklers. We stated that they had never been used and were the way they left them and we were within the year warranty and we were told that we adjusted the backyard and they wouldn't do it for us. Now on May 31, 2013 we had Just Sprinklers come out to raise up two of the heads that Alliance put in as they were too low once grass was installed (the sprinklers were not all the same height when Alliance installed them. In fact, there was almost a 4-6 inch difference and our yard is level). As we were talking to Just Sprinklers, we mentioned that the company that installed our system installed our valves below ground and the overflow pipes were low also even though they knew we were going to put in a 20" raised bed. We found out that the entire system (valves and overflow pipes) need to be raised to meet code. We contacted Jerome about why they were buried in the first place since he knew we were putting in a raised bed and we were told that we were difficult customers and that it was outside the year warranty and that he doesn't remember any conversation about it but does remember coming out to our property five times. He told us that he would charge us $450 to come out and raise them to meet code. We trusted Jerome to have our best interest in mind... in hind sight, we found out that he charged us to install the valves and overflow pipes knowing that he was going to charge us a second time to raise them when he put in the 20" flower bed. Jerome can be a very nice person to work with, but don't ask too many questions or follow up with him or you will be difficult... make sure you get everything in writing. UPDATE 6/3: Jerome got back with me and is willing to work with us to fix the code issues with our valves. He is going to call this week to set up a time for his guys to come out and raise the valves and overflow pipes at a reduced rate to make sure everything is okay. We are very appreciative that he is willing to work with us! Will update when project is complete. UPDATE 6/16: The valves were never mentioned on the initial estimate in June, the second playhouse wasn't built until August and rock was not put in until November. We appreciate raising the valves, but we are glad we are done.
Description of Work: Jerome came out to the house on February 14, 2012 and gave us an estimate on a stamped concrete patio and irrigation system. He was on time and very nice. I explained that we wanted a stamped patio that went over our existing patio. I also told him that we wanted irrigation for some grass and a raised flower bed along the back wall. In February 2012, Jerome came out and poured a stamped concrete patio and installed the sprinklers and drip system. His crew was very nice. They had to come back a second day to fix the outdoor faucet as it wasn't working after the install. We were very satisfied.

Member, We understand that the Customer is always the most important in business. Although at times there are disagreements, it is important to take the time and work with a frustrated client. We intally contracted work for a patio and irrigation system on February 18th of 2012 and did the install on February 22, 2012 per our signed contract by the [member name removed] Family. We delt directly with [member name removed]. The work was completed, and the clients were very happy. No mention of a desired planter in our records until we later met with the [member name removed]for phase 2 in Mid-July of 2012. Upon observing the yard at our July appointment, is was very apperent that the home owners had made an attempt to landscape the remaining yard on their own. Bermuda grass had been seeded into the yard and the grade work was very rough. Some additional gravel work had been performed and two play houses had been installed. The yard had significant alterations since we had installed phase one in February of 2012. We mentioned at this time that some major grade work was going to need to be performed and that if the planter went in, the valves would have to be raised in order to meet code. No contract was ever solidified on the work. We had an ongoing negotiation regarding price and budget until August 12th 2012. The work was never contracted for the planter and grass area and was mentioned to our office staff that we were $400 too high still, and that it was just over the budget rainge that they were interested in spending. Megan in our office took this call from [member name removed]. Our normal work is garenteed for one year and in many cases we make acceptions to this time frame. Our contracts clearly state that if there is any deviations to the original installation, the warenty will be void. 18 months after the original install date of February 22, 21012 we heard from the [member name removed] requesting that the valves be raised because they had built their platner themselves and that the irrigation was not to code any more due to the planter install. It was a surprising request after 18 months since the original install. Several disagreements took place between our office and the [member name removed] Family, but after a day of back and forth activity, we came to a happy medium between both parties. Our staff will be out this week to raise the irrigation valves. We agreed to perform the work on a $1,000 estimate provided by Just Sprinklers for our actual hard cost of $380.00 +tax. The staff at Alliance Landscaping will be out this week to fully complete the irrigation valve adjustments. The[member name removed]family was very happy with this resolution and we are happy that we were able to save a client. We appreciate the reasonability of the [member name removed] family and look forward to working with them in the future.

Great---We had called Jerome the year prior for an estimate, and decided not to pursue the project because of our budget. The next year we called, he returned and had saved all of the original paperwork/estimates (which he honored) and plans/designs. The team was very professional, did a great job, and he also suggested several new touches which really improved the project. He was always available for questions as they arose or changes in the plans. Very patient. We had several estimates, and they were the most affordable and also did the best work (at least when we compared our finished product to pictures provided by the other companies). We would absolutely hire them again for any yard projects.
Description of Work: Alliance poured a colored concrete patio, built brick steps to another patio, installed brick edging around the patio, built a retaining wall, created a wood burning fireplace with flagstone bancos around the edges. They also build a brick lined planter box, and plated two large trees next to the fireplace for shade. They also stuccoed the bancos and retaining wall, and build another set of concrete steps up to the fireplace area.

Jerome responded quickly to our request for an estimate. He spent half an hour interviewing us and making recommendations. A detailed estimate, with 2 options (repairing vs. replacing concrete) arrived by email. This was the only estimate we solicited, but felt comfortable with Jerome's professionalism and his Angie's List ratings. The work was completed in one day. The plants and sprinkling system materials are high quality and the four workers were prompt, hard working, and tidy. Jerome dropped by to check on the progress. He also promptly responded to some questions we had after the work was completed. Our courtyard looks new again, and we hope the concrete paint will be durable.
Description of Work: Alliance completed a facelift on our courtyard area, including replacing all sprinkler hoses, removing and replacing dead plants, pruning existing bushes, and finishing with cedar mulch and gravel. They also cleaned, scraped, and painted an existing stamped concrete walkway that was crumbling and peeling from an earlier repair (not by them).

This company is a nightmare! Took me months to get a Saturday appointment, & when I finally got one for March 9, 2013, after many, many phone calls, excuses and broken appointments - they did not show up or call. The guy finally came on March 13th, stayed about 1/2 hour, took no pictures and was gone. Got a completely uninspired landscape plan and a bid for over $8,000 - for a tiny, tiny back yard space. I feel I completely wasted my $89. Don't do business with this company - they are flakes.

(Member name removed), we understand that customer service is the single most important thing in business. Although we are human and do make mistakes, we stride for an ongoing effort to accommodate all customers. It is our goal to make sure that we put our best foot forward in an attempt to service all clients regardless of circumstances. In 17 years, this has to be one of the most unique of circumstances in dealing with a customer from the very get go. I have to say that we are very disappointed with this review and taken back in so many words. Our ongoing attempts to work with this member were very challenging from the initiation of the very first phone call. Many acceptations to normal scheduling were made in order to try to accommodate requested needs. Alliance Landscaping, Inc. was contact the holiday week of December 31, 2012 by this member who persistently requested a Friday or Saturday estimate on this holiday week. Our office only shuts down for one week every year in observance of the Christmas and New Year holiday. It gives our staff a well deserved opportunity to spend the holiday with family and take a winter vacation if desired. Although the office is closed this week, we still check messages and return calls to be sure to maintain communication with our customers. Being that we were closed and had no staff this requested week, we recommended an estimate any time the following week between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm. The member stated that she just moved to Albuquerque and that here job was demanding and could not take any down time to meet with our staff. Understanding the member’s needs we offered to schedule to meet as early as 6:00am and as late as 6:00pm in order to accommodate her busy schedule. All appointment attempts were initially denied. Due to short days in winter, our ability to schedule any later in the day would have resulted in performing an estimate in the dark which is not an ideal situation. Due to the difficulty in scheduling, we were contact by our sales representative from Angie’s List who recommended that we refund the members $89 promotional purchase and have her move elsewhere. My personal persistence and dedication to customer service, pressed me to decline his offer in an attempt to service this customers challenging request. We followed up with the member and were finally able to solidify a meeting time on a Saturday several weeks later. Due to the ongoing challenges in scheduling, a lack of contact information was gathered regarding this member. Our office staff made several attempts to contact the member the week prior to the scheduled appointment to complete our file. No return calls were ever made by this member until the morning of the appointment which was a Saturday. Our office is closed on Saturdays with no office staff available. I was able to intercept the member’s forwarded call on my cell phone later that morning and offered to reschedule the meeting time for the following weekend. I personally took the estimate myself to assure that the member was well taken care of. I spent 45 minutes interview the members and listening to their desired request and long term usability for their yard. A PLAT survey was retrieved from the customer and confirmation measurements were taken in the same fashion that we perform for every customer. Taking photos is not a normal practice for our staff unless there are special circumstances. With great modern technology, we are able to utilize network programs like Google Earth to gain three dimensional real life views of properties we are performing work in. The scope of work consisted of lots of had excavation. The existing yard from wall to wall was completely made up of a concrete slab which had to be fully excavated by hand and dumped. This alone constituted for $1,800-$2,000 of the original $7,375 estimate. The proposed install as designed consisted of a new decorative colored and stamped concrete patio and installation of a pre-existing outdoor kitchen as well as a full sprinkler and drip irrigation system servicing new grass area and all proposed planting areas. Due to lack of water availability in the back yard, a main water line was going to need to be pulled all the way from the front yard requiring re-acclimation of existing landscape once the water line was installed. Additional ground cover around outer perimeter of landscape was also included with a full native flagstone walk path from back yard leading all the way around to the front entry. Quit the install for only $7.375 +applicable taxes. Once the estimate and designs were delivered via e-mail, myself and my administrative staff made several e-mail and phone call attempts to follow up with the customer. This is normal practice from our company. We like to be certain that one; the customer received the information, and two always offer assistance with questions or desired revisions. No return phone call or follow up e-mail was ever retrieved from the member. The first correspondence we ever retrieved from the customer after this time was this review on Angie’s List. For those of you, who know us; know that we will always take responsibility and accountability for any mistakes we make. This was just a kick in the butt and excuse my frustration, but very hate felt and condescending. We do not really understand why. After viewing this review, I made an attempt to contact the member from an anonymous cell from number of one of our staff, and we actually were able to gain an answer from the member. I kept the phone call professional and offered my assistance once again in lieu of trying to appease a customer’s needs. I offered to revise the designs if desired and even offered a follow up appointment. I even offered a final attempt to refund the members $89 initial fee and perform everything free of charge. The customer was very vocal and declined all offers. I ended the call with a professional open offer to assist the member at any time if she desired. We still at this time give an open offer and are happy to assist this customer with any requested services or needs free of charge.

I received a quote for stamped concrete and determined it may not be what we need right now. The owner was very professional and courteous. He was willing to work around our budget by doing the job in installments, which was greatly appreciated.

It was great overall - no hiccups
Description of Work: We purchased a Landscaping Design package form Angie's List sold by Alliance Landscaping. They made the appointment and came to thouse on time. He spent about 45 minutes reviewing our existing landscaping and making suggestions. He said it would be a few weeks until we would get his design. He was very prompt, and knowledgeable, very helpful with suggestions and questions. He took copious notes and told us of some of the possibilities. He spoke in plain, understandable language and was very easy to deal with. All in all we are very satisfied with the original meeting. Now we are waiting for the design and pricing on the actual work. John

The end product is of high quality and high utility. Jerome was easy to work with, punctual and responsive. Our primary difficulties had to do with the attention to detail of some of his craftsmen. I drew my own detailed plans because those furnished were more a sketch than a plan. We had to follow up with Jerome on issues having to do with gas, electric, and stone installation. In the end, all issues were taken care of to our satisfaction, and we are more than satisfied with our kitchen.
Description of Work: Installed an outdoor kitchen on our tiled patio. Included faux stone sides, granite counter tops, hook-ups for natural gas grill, natural gas side burners, under-counter refrigerator, and trash bin. Moved natural gas hookup across patio from its original location.

I have a rather large backyard and had no idea where to start. I received a couple of estimates, but Jerome made several recommendations and pointed out options that I had not considered and the others had mentioned. Overall, the price was reasonable, the work crew showed up on schedule and finished a half day ahead of schedule. The crew was quick, professional and cleaned up everything after they finished. Jerome has an eye for what works and was interested in providing a quality product. Very happy and would highly recommend.

We were not impressed with the design presented, and shocked at the price quoted.
Description of Work: Hired this company based upon a promotional opportunity to get a design and quote for landscaping my sisters yard. I felt our direction was clearly verbalized but the design was presented in a very non-specific drawing and we were shocked by the $35,000 quote. Clearly our message was not listened to very well. We opted to use another companhy to install irrigation and sod in the front portion of the house which cost $2,000 and they did an excellent job. We anticipate using that same company to install the remaining portion of the landscape for about $3,000 and achieve our desired results for $5,000 overall.

Response from ALLIANCE LANDSCAPING, INC.
customer, We apologize that the designs were more elaborate than you had anticipated. After driving by to view the work of the other company, we realized the simplicity of what your Sister was looking for. This design was purchased as a gift from the customer for his Sister who we met with on two extended occasions. We met with the customer over a brief hand shake and less than five minutes of converstation. Irene was not certain as to what she wanted, but was excited to gain help on her yard. Being that the direction was very general and limited, we offered our assistance with a nice design focused on key points expressed by Irene. The design was very involved and did hold a price tag that fit the install. Irene originally stressed that phasing the install would be needed and we openly exressed our willingness to either stage the project or find a starting point that fit her budget. After fully completing the designs and meeting with his sister, customer did make his presence for the design walk through. He expressed his need for a very fast and simple install because to a crunched time frame due to the holidays, and stated that they had comany coming to town that they wanted the yard cleaned up for. We expressed our willingness to assist the best we could on short notice and offered to simplify the design that would fit their budget. The following morning we recieved a voice mail from the customer requesting that we hault the proccess in revising the designs and stated that he owned a Hotel Management company in which he had on site landscapers that he could utilize from his Hotels which could do the install for much less money and could start immediatelly. We extended calls out to both the customer and his sister and thanked them for the opportunity to allow us the chance to work with them and offered our assistance in the future with their install and design modifications if desired. This was all done for only the agreed upon price of $89 with no questions asked and open willingness for continued assistance. We still offer and welcome the family the opportunity to work with our firm and extend our willingness as always to revise the deisgns to a working form that fits their budget. Please feel free to contact us at any time to allow one of our staff to assit you. Thank you, Jerome Maldonado

Jerome did a great job helping me understand my options for my yard as a new resident to ABQ. He had good ideas and was pleasant and professional. We are using those plans to redo our yard - some ourselves and we will probably hire (AL) to do the parts we cannot do ourselves. I will update the review when that happens.
Description of Work: ALLIANCE LANDSCAPING (AL) made landscaping plans for my yard.

As I write this, on the Winter solstice and the third day of work, the work is proceeding well. I'm impressed by the quality of the materials and the professionalism of the workers. If possible, I will update this report and provide pictures when the work is completed and then again in the Spring.
Description of Work: I replied to an $89 Landscaping estimate offer (regularly $129) by Alliance Landscaping, Inc. for landscaping work in the Albuquerque, NM area. The first pleasant surprise was that they would perform work at my home, about 30-miles south of Albuquerque; not all Angie's List companies will. Jerome, from Alliance Landscaping, arrived on time and walked the property with me, taking measurements and discussing what I would like done. I explained that, other than fruit trees, cactus, and tumbleweeds, I could not get grass or privacy/wind-break trees to grow and he assured me that, with proper watering this could be done. After giving him a plat map of my single family home and yard I asked that the estimate be broken down by the following tasks: 1) Remove dead sod and trees, an invasive tree, tumbleweeds, and a previously-existing, but broken and not to code, irregation system. Install lawn, sprinkler system, crushed rock, and paths incorporating my current flagstones, 2) A drip irrigation system for pre-existing fruit trees and planter boxes, 3) A water garden incorporating a waterfall and 250 gallon pond, and 4) Privacy/wind-break trees around the perimeter. After receiving a detailed written estimate I decided to proceed with tasks 1 and 2. We agreed on a date for the work to begin and Jerome and his crew arrived on time and the work began.

We don't intend to do any work until the Spring so we can't yet report on the end result.
Description of Work: The owner came out and spent considerable time looking at our property and discussing how we'd like to landscape. We live in a wooded area and have a lot of acreage so we weren't looking for a manicured look....rather, we wanted to get some ideas of how to make the property near the house more inviting. When Jerry returned with an estimate and ideas of how we might achieve that, he clearly had understood our goals. We very much liked his proposal and will likely use his services.

Jerome kept in touch, reassuring me that the drawings were in the making. He delivered them today and explained them to me. It went well. I will do some of the landscaping myself and may ask his company to do grading and drip system.
Description of Work: I bought a Big Deal for landscape design, which included drawings of where to plant certain bushes/trees/flowers etc. as well as pathways, edging, specifically for my yard.
