I received an estimate/bid/proposal for the replacement of a 50 gallon high efficiency hot water heater from All Knight Plumbing for $1050 after an on site inspection of the property. I asked them to do the work at a residence I own but rent out. I was not in a rush to have this done but wanted it to be convenient for both my tenant and the plumber. For the first scheduled installation time, the worker called in sick and the company was not able to send out another worker. On the second installation time, the worker decided that he couldn't remove the old water heater without also removing the furnace as there wasn't enough room. I was notified of the problem and the company was going to go and reinspect the job. After not hearing from them for a long while, I received and email that they still needed to reinspect but that the price would probably have to go up $270 or 26%. Since I had another bid, I declined to have them bother my tenant again. I was disappointed that they did not honor their bid. I have just wasted 6 weeks on this job and am now having to start over.
