The technicians called 20 minutes before their arrival and arrived exactly when they said they would. They were both really friendly and professional, and explained what they were checking and answered my questions. They thoroughly checked our air handler and furnace, found some carbon build up on the electronic igniter, so they cleaned that up. They verified that the capacitor in the air handler was in good shape, checked that all safeties were operational, measured CO levels inside the air handler and in the flue to make sure it wasn't blowing CO into the dwelling. On the outdoor unit, they checked all electrical components, condenser fins, the blower and measured the refrigerant level. During the course of checking the refrigerant level, they discovered a leak in the valve of the suction line. As a temporary measure, they put some sealant on the cap and made notes to allow us to call them back for a courtesy check when it's warmer, as it was too cold to get a good reading of the refrigerant level, and they're concerned refrigerant level is lower than was indicated due to the temperature. I really appreciated this, as outdoor temps were pretty low and the unit was under zero load as a result. I plan on calling them when we start seeing temperatures in the mid-80s. *Update, June 2014* I tried for several weeks to get the courtesy re-check scheduled. I called the technician who visited in March, as that was his suggestion at the time. I left him a message, and a week later, hadn't heard back. I called their office to try and schedule that way. The woman I spoke with contacted the tech, who stated he didn't remember who I was (understandably, they're busy) and asked that she have me call him directly to talk about it. I called him again, left another message, and a week later, still hadn't heard back. At this point, my outdoor unit went out (unrelated to low refrigerant), and I had to contact another company to come out and deal with it. I completely understand how busy the technicians are, but it's frustrating that I couldn't have just directly scheduled the visit via their office, rather than trying to contact the tech to come out when he has a chance. Ultimately, this cost them additional business, as I had no desire to play phone tag when our AC went out and it's 90+F outside.
Description of Work: Albuquerque Plumbing Heating & Cooling checked our furnace and A/C system for issues. They verified all safeties were working correctly, checked electrical parts in the blower and furnace, checked and cleaned the igniter for the furnace, checked refrigerant levels, start/run capacitor condition for the outdoor unit.

I called them out to snake out a backed up sewer line. I also wanted them to run a camera through to check the condition of the line. I had no clean-outs (this house was built in 1949) but Leonard found a jury-rigged "clean-out" (nothing more than a vertical pipe with a hole punched into the sewer line) that the previous homeowner had installed and used that to snake and run the video. He said I was lucky no roots had found their way into the line through the juryrig. The video showed that my old orangeburg line was starting to collapse, so I went ahead and had them replace the whole line with new clean-outs. It was more work than they anticipated; my line turned out to be 7 feet deep from the house to the sidewalk! But they stuck to their original estimate. They made sure the line was usable before they left that day (a Friday) and came back on Monday to finish the job. I had this company come out and replace the water main back in November 2013, and some ground settling had occurred next to the house since then. They filled in the "crater" (their tongue-in-cheek term for it, not mine). They even replaced the leaky hose bib at no extra charge. Pete, Marcos and Zach were very professional and courteous. Hopefully I will not need their services again any time soon, but I won't hesitate to call Albuquerque Plumbing if (more like when) the need arises again.

After a frantic search on a Friday night for a heating service provider, we googled after hours provider and foolishly went with the first one available. After paying the $120 after hour fee and listening to the gentlemen basically tell us he could fix this for $550 or he could apply the fee we incurred that evening towards a new furnace. We told him we would get back to him. On Sunday, I checked Angie's list and found that Albuquerque Plumbing Heating and Cooling had very high marks. We called, they too had an after hours number, and spoke to a gentlemen about our problem. He said he could fix it on Monday and estimated for less. He did come on Monday, and by the afternoon he had fixed the Induced draft motor assembly for $374, tax included.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I asked them to do a simple toilet replacement from my old toilets to low flow. I figured it would be a relatively easy job. The plumber showed up late to install toilets and had to come back to my home 3 times before the toilets would stop leaking. On the first time that the plumber said he was "done" my brand new wax ring was completely left outside of the toilet. They stopped leaking for a little while, but were held up only with plastic shims. Being that they were held up with plastic shims my toilets started to rock and leak. If I would have paid my uncles $10 I could have had better installed toilets. I expect that if I pay around $300 to have brand new toilets installed they will work for more than a couple weeks. I wish I could share a picture of how my toilets are held up with little pieces of plastic. It is really a joke to any professional plumbing standard. I called ABQ Plumbing Heating and Cooling and was told that the plumber that installed my toilets was no longer with the company. A service manager came to my house to look at the toilets. He agreed that the toilets were installed poorly and that the toilets had been installed "3/4 of the floor due to poorly installed toilet flanges.' When asked why the flange issue was not brought up at the time of installation he responded that the plumber was transitioning out at that time and must have been busy. In my mind if a contractor comes up with an issue, they should notify the homeowner and ask if they want to proceed then draw up a new quote. None of this was done. If it was because they plumber was transitioning out the company whose reputation is on the line should take accountability. The service manager then said that he would fix my toilets at the best cost he could--which was a quote of $209 + tax. An additional $200 on top of the $300 I had already paid to install brand new toilets. I cannot believe that ABQ Plumbers would not fix their mistake. My toilets have never worked properly since they came to "professionally install" them and are now requesting additional funds to fix an issue I was not notified about. Previous to the toilets ABQ Plumbers had done a whole re-plumb of the house. I have already found one short cut where they replaced piping in my home. I wonder what else is not done properly. During the install plumbers were late on several occasions. On one day one of the plumbers broke a candle in my bathroom, which was not a big deal, but didn't say anything about it to me. I just came home to find glass shards in the trash can.
Description of Work: Recently purchased a new home and inspection said I had copper water lines. A leak began in my bathroom and I found out that the whole house had galvanizes pipes. Hired ABQ Plumbing Heating and Cooling to do a whole re-plumb of the house going through the attic instead of my slab floor. Seemed to go relatively well. Then hired to replace to high flow toilets with brand new low flow which was a disaster.

The estimate process is cumbersome and not timely. Each technician ( according to office staff 30+) does their own estimates. The estimates are then submitted to office staff for "in-put " to the system. I was expecting to have the estimate the same day as the technician visted our home. After two days ( I called them), the estimate still (according to office staff), had not been submitted for system entry, nor had I been called by the technician. Even though I told the office staff that I was going to do business somewhere else, they insisted that I would redeive a copy of the estimate. You guessed it !! 4 days nothing. This business and/or technicians/office staff appear too be to busy to handle new business.

Ken came out that day right on time, did a thorough look at all of my equipment and home, and answered all of my questions including educating me about these systems and making recommendations for my particular setup. The estimate was highly competitive with others I received. I am still deciding what to do next about the work and what company to select, but I would absolutely recommend having ABQ plumbing heating and cooling give you an estimate if you are considering this kind of work and based on this encounter would not hesitate to work with them again in the future.

We received quotes from three different plumbing and heating companies. Albuquerque P&H arrived promptly as scheduled, reviewed our system, and made recommendations for distributing the heat more evenly in our home. The serviceman, Gabe, was extremely knowledgable, friendly and responsive to our questions and concerns. We received their estimate the following day. We were surprised that it was well within our budget and several thousand dollars lower than the others. Several days later we decided to proceed with Albuquerque P&H, and contacted Gabe. He gave us a choice of days to have the install performed the following week. Less than one week later Gabe arrived at our home early in the morning with a crew of three other workmen. Every one of the workmen appeared to be very competent and skilled in what they were doing. When we asked questions, they stopped what they were doing to answer. They were all so friendly, courteous and diligent in their work. In my experience of having workmen in our home, I have never come across a crew that was not only intent on doing a thorough job, but also focused on providing total customer satisfaction. The install was completed in one day. They returned the following day to complete some small follow-up tasks. They did everything that we expected them to do, and even more. When my spouse and I were considering which company to do the work, we decided on Albuquerque P&H not only because of their very reasonable estimate, but primarily because of the high ratings on Angie's List. I can see now why they tower in their line of business. They are totally committed to their customers.

The receptionist was exceptionally nice and found a way to send a tech 1st thing the next morning--I'd expected to have to wait several days as it was right during the cold snap. The tech called at 7:15 am, arrived at 7:30 and was done in an hour. The cost was $83. The price above includes this $83. He scheduled a return 3 days later to replace some parts and estimated the cost. He had told me last year those parts would have to be replaced before too long, so it was no surprise. On the return trip he brought an assistant and they finished in less than an hour. I've been using these people for about 3 years now and they are by far the best of the lot. Since the first time they've automatically added the 10% Angies List discount on labor. Only caveat: the tech is great, but the price of the parts seemed just a tad high.

We've been working with Albq Plumbing and Heating over the course of the last two winters to resolve the issue, which of course only happens for those few months of colder weather. Different service technicians would come out and try to ascertain what was causing the thumping noises. Not being able to replicate it at the time of the service call of course made it very difficult. The different techs had their own theories on what was causing the issue and would offer what they thought was the solution. We went through the winter of 2012-2013 trying different things from a regular flushing of the system to putting in a new part like the expansion tank to resolve the problem. The system would seem to work fine for a week or two but then we were back to it making the funny noise in the middle of the night. We tried different settings on the zones to try and isolate the problem to no avail. In the fall of 2013 we had a conversation with Matt, the owner, about everything that had been tried and yet we still were experiencing the problem and not looking forward to it during the winter of 2013-14. Matt came out and spent a couple of hours trying different things and was finally able to recreate the thumping noise. It was being caused by loose feed lines to our upstairs zones. They apparently had not been properly attached when installed and when the zone kicked in the surge of water caused the line to bang against the floorboard or joists. He came back days later with two other technicians to fix the problem. They weren't sure how many holes in the ceiling between the first and second floor were going to needed to be cut to secure the lines. They started with one hole near the system boiler and determined that there was probably 15-20 feet of line that needed to be secured. The smaller of the two techs thought he would be able to crawl in the tiny space between the floors to secure the lines and we wouldn't have to cut additional holes in the ceiling. I don't know how he did it, but he did! It solved the thumping noise and we are back to sleeping through the whole night during the cold winter! THey also provided us with contact info for a drywall person they recommended to do the ceiling repair. He was very prompt and did a heck of a job patching the ceiling.
Description of Work: resolved thumping noises being made by our radiant heat system that occurred occasionally in the middle of the night(between 2 & 4am usually) lasting only 15-30 seconds but loud enough to wake us up. Never seemed to be a consistent pattern to the thumping noises which made it very difficult for Albq Plumbing and Heating to determine the cause. Very much like the strange noise you hear coming from your vehicles engine, only it stops doing it when you take the car in for service.

I was surprised that the plumber did not have a jackhammer with him and had to call someone to bring one. I was very clear that the leak was under concrete when I scheduled the appointment.
