Description of Work: Jesus (owner) didn't show up to assess the job the first time I called as scheduled, so I had to call him back to reschedule. I had to cancel our reschedule due to family emergency. So things didn't exactly get off to a good start. Several months later, we agreed on a time, Manual (an employee) came to assess the job. At the assessment, he had told me the job would probably take 3 hours, and then told Jesus it could be 4 hours. Angie's List was paid for was 2 hrs. for $99. The assessment was few days prior to beginning the work & Jesus gave me a phone bid of $140 labor (2 more hrs), plus $50 parts. (The only part that was used was an electrical switch box, as I supplied all other fixtures, connectors, drivers, etc.) The job was to install LEDs under the kitchen cabinets & behind the glass cabinet doors. The bid had also included putting in a wall spot, tapped off the same in-cabinet lighting source. |Long story short, Jesus cancelled, then rescheduled, and once Manual started, the job took 8 hours and there was no time to install the wall spot. Jesus called and wanted to "work with me" on the pricing because he said they charged $70 an hour; I said that either the job was bid wrong, or that the worker was perhaps too slow, but that he should keep to his bid. There is more to this story, too much to write here. But Manual was a nice guy, perhaps didn't have the correct tools (butt connectors for the roll LEDs) and wired the lights in differently than the schema that the lighting store had suggested. I ended up paying an extra $203, which was the bid, but they felt was too little. The job took way longer than I anticipated, and, unfortunately, at the conclusion, I think each of us felt that we somehow had received less than what we bargained for. The lights do work, though, and I am sorry that it wasn't a more pleasant experience for all concerned. Maybe just one of those things . . . ?
