+ -1 moreI used the company's website to request a call. The call was prompt and friendly. The service man arrived on time and was both friendly and professional. The necessary part wasn't immediately available so the service man had to make another appointment for the next day. Again, he was prompt and did the job. Nice experience.
Description of Work: On refridgerator the water had stopped dispensing several months before and suddenly the ice maker stopped working. The compressor was cleaned and a valve was replaced.

+ -1 moreNew I bought the appliance tune up package although I'd never had that done in the past. However, for just a few dollars I though some preventive maintenance couldn't hurt. Norm showed up and was courteous, professional, and completed his inspections in a timely manner. The garbage disposal, even though fairly old, he gave better than passing marks, the dishwasher was fine, cleaned and refreshed. The only Issue I'd had was with the icemaker on the fridge, and careful exploration showed that the condenser motor wasn't working correctly and was actually failing. New motor had to be ordered from the manufacturer (in Korea) but Norm kept me updated with regular emails, and the part arrived quickly. Norm got it installed quickly and now all works well. To my surprise, I only paid for the new part and there was no fee whatsoever for the second service call. I'd definitely use this company again and would recommend them.

+ -1 moreMy washing machine broke over memorial day weekend, of course. I called ABC and a tech called back about 3.5 hours later saying he was in the neighborhood and could stop by in 15 minutes or I could make an appointment. Within 15 minutes he was at my door and about an hour later the problem was diagnosed and fixed. He was friendly and worked quickly. It was about 149 bucks before tax. No new pump necessary! yay! I love Angie's list. We could have probably fixed the problem on our own, but it would have taken us about a day to figure it out and we just didn't have that kind of time.

He honored the Big Deal price and wasn’t going to add a penny. The girl who took care of the scheduling was perfect. I’m pretty active and I’m trying a lot of new things in my live, so rescheduling was important to me. She was very diligent in rescheduling so that the work could be done. The technician knew exactly what he was doing and he showed me his progress along the way.

+ -1 morePleasant surprise, I didn't think companies like this existed anymore! Reasonable rate for service call, the service call charge is folded into the repair charge. They come on weekends, talk to you knowledgably, answer questions, and give you options. Ray from ABC came within the appointed time limit. I was impressed by his professional manner, clean cut appearance, and how personable he was (this is getting to be a dying art). I will certainly call them again and have already asked if they would install the new range when I get it. Thanks for the referral Angie!
Description of Work: 1986 HotPoint range had a burner light that wouldn't go off. I had called another repair company first (not from Angie's list). They told me they would disconnect the light but my oven still would work after they disconnected the light. He asked if it worked prior to the problem with the light and I said yes. He didn't check to see if the oven was still working after the disconnection. A few days later, I went to cook and the oven would not get up to desired temperature. I had joined Angie's list and thought I'd get a second opinion before buying another stove. Ray at ABC tested the oven temperature, told me I needed an oven thermostat for the oven to work. He was still unable to repair my range as the part needed is no longer available but he did make the effort to get the specified part or a related part that would work on my range. On my washing machine, he found the problem is the transmission but let me know it could give me some time before I had to get it fixed or replaced since I was having to get the stove replaced first. Usually I hate to pay for a service call just for them to come out but I feel this young man earned it by diagnosing the problem and truthfully giving me alternatives and options. His knowledge was impressive and I actually didn't mind paying for the service call.

+ -1 moreThe technician, Ray, was 10 minutes early for our scheduled time window. He was prompt, polite and professional and accurately diagnosed the problem as the control board. The $55 approximate charge was for diagnosing the problem (also used Angies List coupon). The estimate to fix the problem was approximately $300 - 350. Update: My husband installed the control board and fixed the oven. I would use them again to diagnose any appliance issues.
Description of Work: One day, I tried to clean my oven using the self cleaning feature on my GE Profile double oven. The locking mechanism would not engage for the self clean feature to start.

We had to reschedule the appt., and didn't do so right away; the company called us back to check in with us and courteously offered us a coupon. We then scheduled an appointment. Norman, the technician, was promt and respectful. He explained what the procedures would be and answered all my questions about them. He took his time, double-checked his work, and even cleaned up after the work was done. He didn't try to sell me anything, since it wasn't needed. I would definately use this company again!

+ 0 moreI realized for a while that my dryer wasn't drying as well as it used to. I had cleaned out the trap with a long brush, but it didn't improve. When my husband saw the Angie's List deal, we decided to try it. WOW, are we happy! The dryer is close to 7 years old and it was FULL of lint. He told us it should be cleaned every 3 years, and we're going to keep that up. I will sleep better tonight knowing we may have avoided a fire.
Description of Work: Norman, the service tech, arrived on time and was very personable. It was an Anglie's list "Big Deal" and the service was all I could ask for. He took my dryer out away from the wall, inspected all the controls and heat settings, and then took it apart and cleaned it out. He pulled it away from the wall, snaked out the dryer vent, and cleaned up the floor under the dryer. It was YUCK and we really needed the service.

+ 0 moreWe used Angie's List to locate ABC Appliance Repair. We called on a Friday and an appointment was set for the following day, Saturday. He arrived on time, 10:00 am. He told us rather than check the the sensor that the problem was most likely the dryer vent. He went to the roof to clean it out. Afterwards, he checked it with us and it worked perfectly.
Description of Work: The dryer was shutting off without completely drying the clothes. The repairman thought the dryer vent needed cleaning. He cleaned it out from the roof. He checked it before leaving and it was running like new. He told us to have the vent cleaned at least every 3 years.

Description of Work: I called to get information about getting dryer vent cleaned, didn't tell them I was calling from Angie's List nor was I asked. They gave me the same price that listed on Angie's list, not their normal price of $189. So he is running a scam, telling people they are saving money when they are not! Wouldn't do business with someone like that! Can't believe Angie's List doesn't police these things, I thought that's why we pay to be members.
