ABC Appliance Repair

Angie's List provided me with three appliance repair shops to select from. I chose ABC Appliance because of their Angie's List discount and their overall reviews. I have bad experiences with the largest appliance repair company and wanted to try someone reviewed. I was contacted immediately following my phone call and email. The appointment was set for the same day between the hours of 2 and 4. The service tech was at my house at 1:45 and diagnosed the problem immediately. The best part was he had the part in his truck, replaced the piece, showed me it was working correctly and was gone in 20 minutes. The tech was professional and extremely courteous. I was so impressed by the speed and timely repair that I would recommend them to anyone who needs appliance repair! Thank you Angie's List and ABC Appliance Repair!

Called to schedule appointment and ABC was able to come out that day. Punctual, courteous, professional! We won't use anyone else in the future. Very nice initial phone call and that followed all the way through. Couldn't recommend more highly.

found electrical leakage in dishwasher, is coming back today to replace the unit. the biggest problem was contac. repair man missed us at home on the first try, didnt get the message setting up the second meeting, but made it the third time. was not unhappy with what he did, or I wouldnt be letting him come back today.

It went very well. The repairman arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. It only took about 5 minutes. He communicated his findings very well and quickly and within 30 minutes, he completed the repair. He was very familiar with the Make and Model. He was also very courteous and professional.

The technician explained what he did and mentioned a few things I might do to improve functioning. He did not try and up sell me or suggest unnecessary repairs. I felt confident in his assessment.

The washer failed intermittingly and was hard to find the real problem. However in the hands of a skilled technician, Ray, the problem was found and fixed. From the Call Director to the owner and then the technician, this company is a excellent company to do business with.

ABC Appliance Repair did a terrific job! I found them on Angie's List yesterday at around noon. They had a great rating. I checked them out on BBB. They had an A+ rating there. So I called to see if they could fix my oven. It was no longer heating. The stovetop worked and the broiler worked, but I couldn't get the oven, itself, to heat up. I also asked if they could take a look at my refrigerator while they were here. Ice has been forming on the bottom of my freezer for a long time. I have to go in and chip it out. The oven I definitely wanted fixed, the freezer was just an annoyance, so I would have them fix it if the price was right. The woman who answered the phone was friendly and professional. She said that they could have someone at my house between 4pm and 6pm that same day. Also, she said they usually charge the $55 service fee (basically the diagnostic fee that is applied toward the repair cost if you have them do the repair) for each appliance, but if I went ahead and scheduled them to come out, she would waive that fee on the refrigerator. I said "Sure". So we set up the appointment. Around 3pm I received a call saying that they were wanting to give me a more specific time. They would be at my house closer to 5pm. That call was appreciated, because I knew I had about two hours to finish something I was working on before they showed up. Sure enough, just after 5pm, Ray showed up. He was friendly, professional and courteous. He looked at the problems and got a price for me. He asked where I had heard about them. When I told him "Angie's List", he said, "Great. We'll give you a 10% discount." He told me the price - $300 for the oven (because they had to replace the igniter kit) and only $40 for the refrigerator (as promised they did not charge me the service fee for that appliance). Then they took off the 10% because I was an Angie's list member. Ray fixed the oven and stayed to make sure that it preheated and held the temperature. While the oven was heating, he defrosted the water line in my refrigerator for me and showed me how to do it myself if it ever happened again. He was so pleasant to deal with and did a great job! I am extremely happy with ABC Appliance Repair. I will definitely use them if I ever need another large appliance repaired and will recommend them to friends! I can't believe that I hadn't even heard of them at 11am yesterday and by 6pm, my oven was heating again and my refrigerator water line was working correctly! Now I can bake and no longer have to chip away at that annoying ice! Thanks ABC!!

It was a very pleasant experience! The scheduling person gave us 2 options for the house call, both of which were within 24 hours and very convenient. The repairman called ahead to say when he would arrive. He was right on time and worked quickly. He clearly explained what was wrong and gave us detailed price information. We accepted the price for the repair because it was quite reasonable and less than we expected. We definitely recommend this company and will use them again whenever necessary. There was ice building up on the bottom of the freezer on my side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. When Norman came over the first time, I was expecting to have to replace the ice maker. However, he discovered that the drain hole at the bottom was plugged. He cleaned that out and also cleaned out the back of the refrigerator where the motor is. It turned out to be the ice maker after all. He deducted the amount I had paid from the first visit from the bill for the second visit. He also honored the coupon for 10% off for Angie's List customers both times. He is friendly and courteous.

The repairman arrived on time and was able to repair the water dispenser immediately. I also asked him to replace the water filter which is difficult to remove. He removed it and offered to order a new one, but said his source would charge much more than we could get from Home Depot or similar stores, so we decidedly to get it ourselves. He charged only the standard service fee, which was much less than Sears. We were completely satisfied with the work. Very professional and reliable.

Excellent service. Arrived on time and was creative about getting access to a stacked unit in a quite small space that did not allow much room for working. Another service person would not work on the unit because he could not figure out how to get to the machine.

Disposal was installed improperly (by my husband) who had the correct hose arrangement explained to him. All in all , it works and "ain't broke" so we are leaving it as is. Dishwasher is pretty ok with some tiny leaks. The dishwasher is so old there are no longer replacement parts. Refrigerator is "only" 12 years old and keeps on ticking. The icemaker has some idiosyncrasies but we like 'em so are leaving them as is. Norman is very knowledgeable and easy going. He answered my million questions, didn't criticize the disgusting mess under my fridge, gave me plenty of tips on how to increase the efficiency of the appliances I have. I HIGHLY recommend ABC Appliance repair and will use them next time I have call to.

He showed up on time, disassembled part of dryer to remove an insane amount of lint. Then he did the same to vent from dryer to out of house. Dryer worked great afterwards. Going to do it again.

After I paid for the service, I scheduled an appointment. I had to cancel the appointment because they wanted to come at 7:00 pm which didn't work for us. I called a few times and they never returned the call. I lost my money because I finally gave up.

Great they told me how to fix the problem over the phone and it didn't cost me a dime!

Excellent. Professional and honest about scope of required repair. Arrived promptly and explained exactly what he was completing. Very pleased with service.

First contacted ABC on Aug 20 and was given appt for the 22nd. The day of the appt the tech called three times throughout the day to see if he could come early. While I appreciate them trying to see me sooner it was a little frustrating to have to keep saying no thank you. I had my day scheduled up for other things and was planning on seeing them in the afternoon. The appt time window I was given was 4-6pm. The tech did not arrive until 5:58pm. i was just about to say forget it but I did need my oven repaired so I let him in. My oven will not hold a high temp, over 400, for more than 20 mins or so. Tech said he thought he knew what the problem would be based on other ovens he had worked on of this type. He tested and determined that the safety valve for the gas in the back was faulty. Quoting him, "it's the most expensive part on this oven but this should take care of your problem". We decided to have the repair done. He didn't have the part with him and had to order it. We were unable to use our oven until he could come back. He was set to come back on Saturday the 24th. The phone rang at 7am on Saturday, a little early in my opinion for a business to call. The tech was able to come in an hour if that worked. Again this was earlier than the appt we had agreed to, but we were awake so we said ok. He came out and installed the new part and left in a timely manner. Within a few days we determined that the oven still wasn't working correctly. I called ABC and they pulled our repair record and the tech called me that day to schedule to come back on the 31st. This time he decided that it was the electronic control panel/computer chip that was possibly bad. Again he said "sorry, this is the second most expensive part to replace on this oven." To be fair they did discount the cost of labor for this and only charged us for the part. Unfortunately he again had to order the part. He said it would be in on Monday, even with the Labor Day holiday and that he could be out first thing Tuesday the 3rd to do the work. It turned out that I didn't hear from him until mid day Wednesday the 4th when he said he could come out that evening. He came and replaced the part and even stayed an extra 25 minutes to watch the oven while it heated and to see if it would hold the temperature or not. The oven seemed to be working ok. The tech said to use it a couple of times over the next week to make sure it was working properly. He also said he would hold onto the computer chip part for a week because if the oven still didn't work he could put the old part back in. I presumed to take this to mean that we would be refunded the cost of that part if we didn't need it. I tried to cook with it twice at high temperatures over the next week and the oven had it's same old problem. I called back to the ABC office at the one week mark of Sept 11th and explained to the receptionist that we were still having a problem. She said she would pull our repair record and they would call me back in a couple of minutes to set up another appt. As of the 16th they have not returned my call. My guess is that the tech no longer has the part and doesn't want to handle the possibility that he replaced a part that wasn't faulty. At this point we aren't really interested in spending any more money on repairing the oven. I am disappointed in this experience as usually we have done well with businesses we find on Angie's List.

Washing machine wouldn't spin. Tried all the spin spots on the dial. Nothing worked. Wrung out the laundry by hand. ABC Appliance Repair had the least expensive service fee and the most positive customer comments. The tech called ahead and arranged to visit earlier than scheduled. He parked on the street and greeted me with a smile and a warm handshake. He spun the dial and the machine spun at every spin spot. I felt like an idiot! The tech was sympathetic, kind, and courteous, suggesting actions I could take if the problem happened again. When the problem happens again and I am unsuccessful with my attempts I will call ABC Appliance Repair, knowing that the service fee I paid will be applied to the second visit. I'm relieved to know that my machine is working! And I'm happy with all aspects of my experience with ABC Appliance Repair.

The freezing compartments of two refridgerators failed to cool. Young man inspected them both. Main refridgerator required a new starter relay, which he had on his truck. He, thus, was able to repair the refridgerator while there. The other fridge had dust build-up on coils. The young man recommended that I vacuum/blow off the dust to see if that would help. It did, so both fridges work well, now.

It made more sense to purchase a new protection agreement for the refrigerator from Seats. The ice maker and valve have to be replaced in a 13 month old Kenmore Elite and there is likely a future problem. Ray was knowledgable and efficient. I do not hesitate to recommend their service. Worth the $55 service call.

Ray was very professional and nice. He replaced the part that makes the ice cubes, and I pointed out other part that is on the front on refrigerator, where you can push to get ice was broken. He told me that the part he fixed would work fine and that it should still work. I then realized a few days later that the ice dispenser still didn't work. Called and Ray came back out August nd. At this time he apologized for not ordering the part and explained I never forget these things. Then told me he would order the part and it would 3-5 business days. He called me after he left and let me know that the new part would cost $100. I told him to go ahead and order the part. I still haven't heard from them and I just gave ABC a call and left a message with receptionist to have the manager or owner call me.

I needed my refrigerator fixed right away as the temperatures in the refrigerator and the freezer were getting hotter. I called first thing in the morning and left a message and my call was promptly returned. I wanted to have a repairman come that day since I was in danger of losing all the food in the fridge & freezer. They only had an appointment available for the next afternoon, which I scheduled, but they said they would call me if the repairman finished early that day and could make me the last service call of the day. Less than 2 hours later, Norman called and said he had a morning cancellation and could come over within the hour. He was very professional, personable, & efficient. He quickly detected the problem, which was a motherboard, and told me how much it would cost. He had a motherboard with him, but double checked with the office to ensure it was the proper one for the make/model of my refrigerator. After confirming this, he ensured I was ok with the cost, then went to work on the repair. He was very knowledgeable and had my refrigerator fixed in a very short period of time. Norman called me later that day to ensure the refrigerator & freezer were cooling properly. I was very impressed with him and the business.

Service call only. However, Ray was prompt, polite, quick and honest. If needed, I will use this company again.

Norman was very professional, arrived right on time, and did exactly what the service offer said. He identified some problems with my fridge, fixed what he could, and told me how to get the rest fixed and what it would cost. He ran the dishwasher, tuned it up, and suggested a product that might help it run better. The disposal was in perfect shape.
