A1 Guaranteed Garage Doors

My garage door cables had popped off the windings and bound up in the track, causing some additional problems with the motor and popping one of the hinges. I called Mike on Monday morning, and he offered to arrive that afternoon. I had other commitments, and he came out the next morning. He repaired the cables, reset the springs and the door, and fixed the hinge. Mike told me that the motor and configuration was one that had been discontinued several years ago due to a defective design - the motor could not withstand the proper tension on the springs in the fully up position and hence had to be set light enough that the cables would tend to pop of the windings. I also knew that my neighbors, who have the same motor, have had similar problems multiple times. I asked Mike to install a new motor and configuration. He agreed to come back the next day to do this, and installed a manual lock on my door for my security. Mike did not charge for any of these things, and his entire first visit, including chatting with me, took a half hour. Mike came back the next day. He reconfigured and installed a new motor with remotes and an external control pad. It took an hour and a half, including cleanup and giving me a thorough briefing on the new system. Everything now works perfectly.

He is very very good and very professional. On time and if going to be late he calls and lets you know he's on his way.

Mike answered when I phoned, came out the next day and gave me a quote. In a couple of days, he installed a new door in appx. an hour-fifteen and all is well. As others say, Mike is professional, congenial and prompt. Get this, the two times he came out ... he was within 2 minutes of the time he said he'd be here! Too often, you DON'T find services and workers who totally meet your expectations.

Called for estimate and Mike gave me a quote of $185 based on info I provided. Agreed to make the repairs on Sunday (Father's Day) at 4pm. Mike arrived on time, completed the repairs within one hour, as he had stated. Was shocked when he said the price would be $20 less because my garage door was metal insulated vs wood, as I had stated. A repairman with honesty, integrity, and punctuality. What a concept!! Highly recommended!!!

We had an excellent experience with A-1. I called them after hours on a Monday night because our garage door wouldn't go up and my wife's car was stuck in the garage. His schedule was crammed the next day, but he quickly agreed to come out the next morning at 6:30 to help us get on our way. He arrived right on time, fixed the door, and had us back up and running by 7 am. Mike's customer focus and business ethic is hard to find in ABQ. Congrats Mike - keep up the great work.

Got home at 3:30 pm today and couldn't open garage door. Got on Angie's List and found A-1 Guaranteed Garage Doors. I called and Mike answered his phone. I explained problem and he was very concerned that I was locked out of my gargage. Said he could be there by 6 pm. I told him I had to leave by 5:45 pm for my grandson's science fair and he said he'd try to make it today--latest tomorrow. At 5 pm the doorbell rang. Mike figured out what was wrong, gave me an estimate and had me out of here by 5:45 pm. He is a very pleasant and efficient man.

I was grateful that he didn't make me feel like a dope for not understanding how to make the adjustments.

I called on a Saturday afternoon, and Mike agreed to come early Monday afternoon. He arrived on time (which was good since I was on lunch break). Mike puzzled over my rebounding door for a few moments, watching how it operated and eliminating various possibilities. Instead of giving up and telling me to call him when it happened again, Mike began exploring other parts of the door and soon found that the problem wasn't with the sensors or the floor. Instead, he made some adjustments to the track in order to stop the door from hitting one part of the frame. While doing this, he was also able to make the door fit more snugly, thus reducing the previous gap. Mike had also brought with him some vinyl strips that matched my door and which he attached on both sides and along the top of the outer portion of the door frame. This effectively stopped the incoming daylight (and airflow) except between the door and the garage floor. Mike made an appointment to install a new u-shaped attachment to the bottom of my door later the same week. Now my door works great and my garage (and upstairs bedroom) are much warmer! I am pleased that I was not forced to buy a new door (as some others had suggested). Mike's solutions were perfect, fast, and very affordable. I'm continuing to recommend A-1 to coworkers, family, and friends!

A great experience overall. Mike was very prompt in returning our initial call, very courteous with scheduling, was prompt on the day of service, and very efficient and contentious. He clearly explained the work that he did and gave us candid answers to our questions. The price of service was very reasonable and we would call him in the future for any garage door work!

The door was not opening despite hearing the electric motor run, some hinges were bent and broken, and a panel was bowing. We had been told that we needed to replace the door. Mike said he could replace the broken hinges with heavier duty hinges, realign the door, and replace a part in the opener. Knowing how heavy the door is and wanting to add more reliability, we asked him to replace all the hinges and to reinforce the panel by moving a strut. Since it is 20 years old, we asked him about replacing the rollers which he said were ok. We asked him for a written estimate. When he completed the job and we paid him he stated that he had decided to replace the rollers. He did not charge for them. He completed the job in a timely effective unobtrusive manner. His bid was significantly lower than another company for the same work.

We have had Mike out to fix our garage door in the past (3 times over the past 6 years). He has always done a great job and never pressured us to get a new garage door. Finally, with the condition of our garage door and opener (at least 20 years old) it was time to get them replaced. We called on a Saturday and he came out to replace the garage door/opener the next Wednesday. He asked us what type of door/opener we wanted and provided an exact cost. It turns out the garage door size was "custom" and required a smaller panel. He took the time to get this panel replaced, with no charge. Mike took the time to explain how the new garage door/opener operated and offered to come out at anytime if we had any problems. I highly recommend A-1 guaranteed garage doors and wish other companies operated with the same professionalism and integrity.

Our garage door opener failed to open or close more than 1/2 way. We were able to disconnect the door from the opener and operate it manually for security purposes. We called A-1 Guaranteed Garage Doors and scheduled an appointment. Mr. Jackson arrived on time, was very professional and performed the repairs in about 1-1/2 hours at a reasonable cost.

Great. I looked him up on Angie's List and my husband called him. He came out and gave us an estimate. A few days later one of our garage door openers stopped working. He came over and couldn't fix it, so he installed the 2 garage door openers. He ordered the 2 doors and when they came in, he came and installed them.

They did excellent work and showed up rite away. The price they gave was the cheapest of the three bids I got. And will use this company again and recommend them to everyone else.

To echo the many other stellar reports, Michael Jackson, provided same-day service, on-time, for a reasonable price. We were locked in our garage because the door wouldn't open! My husband pried the door up enough for us to get our cars out and make it to work. Michael answered the phone immediately, agreed to meet me at 5 pm after work, and arrived exactly at that time. He stabilized the lifting mechanism, which had come loose from the wall and welded several wheels back onto the door within about an hour. We were very grateful for his prompt and professional service. That was about a month ago and we have had no further problems with the garage door opener.

They came out right away and at very small fee, he didn't try to make me replace the door like another company tried to, and was able to come out within the hour as well. He was very fair, honest and he did such a great job he was a very nice man and easy to work with, he even gave me advise over the phone when I had problems a second time.

We called, and they came over within 15 minutes. They said over the phone that the job would be about $150, but it was less than $130. They were prompt, efficient, professional, and reliable.

After my husband had left for work, I discovered I could not get out of my garage to go to work. The door would not open. I searched the phone book and found A-1 Guaranteed Garage Doors. They had the Christian fish symbol in their Yellow Pages ad. As a woman calling for a technical service without my husband at home, I hoped this meant the company would not take advantage of me. Mike Jackson, the company owner, answered right away and said he would be at my home within 30 minutes. When he arrived, he quickly assessed what the problem was. He said he would have to get the right-sized springs and come back later in the day to make the repair. In the interim, he manually opened my garage door so I could get my car out. He quoted me a very fair price for the repair (confirmed with several sources). He returned the same evening at exactly the time he quoted with the correct parts and proceeded to make the repair in a professional, competent manner.

Mike came out promptly and evaluated the door. He made some adjustments but charged me nothing. He was very kind and informative. Great!

Everything was fine. The garage door was installed on time. The installer was slightly late, but he called to say he was running a bit behind.

Mike Jackson is very professional, and honest. He was at our house in an hours time, and was able to repair our garage door as well as, fix the loud squeak we previously had.
