A non English speaker dumped less than 1/2 cord of firewood on my street. I could not communicate with him nor was the company responsive when I called. I paid for 1/2 cord and the pile is less than that. Do not expect this service to lift one finger to be helpful. They literally dump the wood in your street for you to have to deal with. My area for stacking was mere feet away but they would not budge. I read in reviews that people were pleased with the neat delivery. Not true in my case.

Good quality wood. But I didn't measure the quantity when it was delivered.

We are very happy with the wood, it's dry and a nice size cord.

They are very good. It is a good price and it's far from my house. They are very professional and I have been using them for the last 16 years. They are consistent, and deliver quickly. I asked one of the girls about the wood because, there was a beetle infestation, and she said that there weren't any problems. She said that she would call me back and never did.

It did not go well. Dennis dumped all the firewood and did not offer to help stack or unload neatly. After looking at the other reviews, I see that he overcharged me. Also, he tricked me -- the nicely cut wood was on the top of the load in the truck, but after he had gone, I observed that 90 percent of the wood was not split and most of it would not fit in my furnace -- I have been burning it outside in my large patio stove. Watch out and make certain the wood Dennis delivers is cut down properly and the whole pile not just the logs on top. I will never buy firewood from Dennis ever again.

We called A1 on December 23 thinking that if would be great if we could get a delivery sometime between Christmas and New Years. As it turns out, they delivered to us the next day....Christmas eve! While the price for the wood is on the high side, the quality of the wood is excellent. We have a modern-type wood stove that requires 12and quot; wood and they delivered a 1/2 cord each of cedar and pinon that fits our stove perfectly. We will definitely order from them again.

They misinformed me about adding my delivery to a previously scheduled delivery in my area. Then they refused to drive down my driveway and wanted to dump everything at the top of the drive, about 150 ft from where I wanted the wood. I'm 73, and this was not OK. So I canceled my order. Then they wanted to charge me a $25 re stocking fee. The manager refused to return my calls. Every time I called to speak to him, they said he was out and told me to just keep calling. The billing is still unresolved.

The company was easy to do business with. They delivered the firewood on time and stacked it where I requested it be stacked. I will definitely do business with them again.

Service was excellent! They showed up on time. Were very pleasant and professional. Took care not to damage anything when backing truck to location we wanted the firewood. Great job of stacking it. And we got a FULL cord of all oak firewood. We will definitely use them again. Great job!!!

I decided not to order from them and will seek another Angie's list approved firewood supplier.

They were awesome, fabulous and wonderful. He was fast, efficient, friendly and funny. We have actually used them before so we knew they were good. We will continue to use them.

Good wood, prompt delivery, fair price. What else is there? We heat our house with a wood stove, and A-1 has good, dry wood. They always arrive when promised, and their prices are reasonable.

Office staff friendly and fairly quick. Grounds staff will quickly load and stack your firewood in the vehicle/trailer you bring.

I needed firewood this past weekend for an outdoor event (I was running very low). I saw trucks by the side of the road selling firewood for a ghastly price close to my home. I was just about to fork over $170 dollars to fill the bed of my Toyota truck when common sense hit me in the head. I came home and researched Angies List for firewood near my home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. I found A1 on Angies List and it was rated very high. I went into the South Valley of Albuquerque after work today and filled by truck completely for $70 for a 1/4 cord of wood ($100 cheaper)!. They even threw in a large trunk so that I could use for further splitting if needed. Note that the wood was already split and looked and smelled well seasoned. I am very glad that I researched Angies List and purchased from this business. I will definitely return when I need more wood.

Ordered wood, delivered on Saturday and was on time.

A-1 Firewood delivered a 1/2 cord of pinon-cedar mix on time and carefully stacked the wood where I requested. Before leaving, they cleaned up the driveway area thoroughly where they had unloaded the firewood . I would recommend A-1 Firewood.

They was a little late and the driver accidentally ran over one of my plants when he was backing up. Mistakes happen and I'm not gonna hold that against them because #1 the driver had a full,full truck that day and #2 I think I can bring the plant back come spring. I would use them again for another cord when needed. A Good company with good people!!!

Having used this company with success last year, I called them again this year to order firewood. I spoke with the owner and told him I wanted the same order as last year (a cord of wood delivered and stacked). He said that the price was $400 this year instead of the the $350 I paid last year because of the cost of wood. I agreed to pay the extra $50. I was surprised when he said the delivery would be the next day between 1 and 5 PM. So, a rearranged my schedule to be home the following afternoon. When the firewood had not been delivered by 5:15PM, I called the store and got a message machine. About 10 minutes later, the driver arrived with the firewood and dumped it in my driveway. The delivery guy (who barely spoke English) said that he was not supposed to stack the wood. I asked him to call the owner, which he did. He handed me his cell phone, I explained that I was stunned that the wood had been dumped on my drive and was not going to be stacked as we agreed. He said that he does not keep records of previous sales and didn't realize that I wanted the wood stacked (despite the fact that I said that when we spoke on the phone the day before). He said that it would be another $50 for stacking the wood. I said that I planned to tip the guy who stacked the wood $40 (same as I had last year) and that he would have to work it out with the delivery guy. Since it was after 6PM by this time, we agreed the guy would come back the next day and stack the wood. He did. The wood is mostly pine (which burns very fast), and certainly not the same quality as last year. I won't be ordering from them next year.

When the driver arrived (on time and very nice) and unloaded the firewood, I noticed that 1) a portion of the wood (maybe 15-20%) was cut to between 18 and 20 inches, and 2) a much larger portion of the cord (maybe 50-60%) was not split sufficiently small to be able to be used in my wood stove. While the driver waited, I called Dennis. He could not have been nicer and more willing to correct the problem. He told me to simply leave the delivered wood where it was and he would send out another cord of the correct length and split to my requirements in three days. The wood arrived as promised, on time, well seasoned, and cut to my specifications. The driver hand loaded the and quot;oldand quot; wood by hand into his truck and took it away. While Dennis could have argued that it was a small portion of the wood that was larger than 18and quot;, or volunteered to replace the wood that was too large (rather than the entire cord), he didn't. He also could have taken the position that I should have notified them at the time of the order that I needed smaller splits, but he didn't. Instead, he apologized and told me he would make it right. And he did. I highly recommend Dennis for anyone's firewood needs. For me, after trying multiple firewood providers over the years (and fights to get full cords delivered), I'm very happy to say that my search for an honest and reliable firewood vendor is done. I will continue to use Dennis from now on and will (and have) recommend him to anyone looking for firewood in the Santa Fe or Albuquerque area.
