Triple T Upholstery

I took in a chair on Feb 2. The guy told me that he had just cracked his ribs the night before. His breath smelled of alcohol but I figured he was drinking for the pain. I was given an estimated completion of two weeks. I provided my own fabric. he looked and said it should be fine. Two weeks later I get a call saying that I was supposed to pay a deposit. He said that I said that I had to ask permission from my husband first so they were waiting for me to bring that in. 1. this is not 1950 I did not need to "ask permission" But we had already discussed the matter before I brought in the chair. 2. He has my chair, why do I need to pay a deposit? if you do the work and I don't pay, sell the chair! 3. Why did he wait 2 weeks before calling to ask? Whatever, I go in and pay the deposit the next day. (Feb 14) He tells me then that it will be another 1.5 weeks. I confirm that the fabric will be ok, because the night before I had a nightmare that the fabric was all wrong. but again I was told that it was thin, he wouldn't go any thinner, but it was thick enough as long as I didn't have cats. So I wait. 2 weeks later I called and was told that I had been bumped for a trucker that needed his seat redone and fast, but that it should only be a few days more. After about three more weeks he tells me that if it wasn't done in the next three days he wasn't going to charge me. I called that day and he said it wasn't done and to give him two more days. So I waited. I called. I was told that the guy was in the shower and that I would get a call back. Longest shower ever...a week later I get a call saying it was done at last. 8 weeks total! When I got there he was VERY apologetic as he should be. He showed me that the reason that it took so long is that the material I had provided kept fraying apart in his machine causing all sorts of jamming issues. Also, the piping cord that he tried to use ended up not being as easy so he had to switch to a different type. As a professional Upholsterer he should have a better knowledge of his craft to look a fabric and know that it isn't right. Then there was the work that he actually did. The tufted buttons are in the wrong place, they are too high on the back and it makes it look silly. Also, the buttons at the ends of the arm rests are too big and off center, and there is a spot on the back that looks like a huge dent. If that wasn't enough irk, because of the trouble he had with the fabric, he used way more of the fabric than he was supposed to and now its all gone. My plan had been to make matching pillows to put on the sofa and tie the whole room together. That's not going to happen. I have three more job that need doing. Triple T failed their audition.
