Edward's Garage Doors

Our experience with Ed could not have been better. The spring broke on our 2-door garage door one evening. We found Ed on Angie's list, and called that evening. Ed returned the call that night, and came out the next day. He recommended a new garage door, rather than simply repairing the old one, which was pretty well shot (more than 40 years old). There was no pressure to buy the most expensive one, and the price seemed quite reasonable considering it included both removal of the old door (which was extremely heavy), and installation of the new door, which included replacing the tracks, springs, and opener. He was polite, professional, and did an excellent job.

Very punctual. I was attending a conference call and he quickly explained the garage door issues and how he would fix it. He then fixed it and was ready to leave while I was still on the conference call. I gave the garage door a few days and it works perfectly. Previous to him fixing it, the garage door was in very bad shape; bad springs and pulley cables. I wish he did more than service garage doors.

Mr. Stapp showed up promptly on time. The job sounds straightforward, but Mr. Stapp actually fixed the root cause for of the balance issue, which was improperly positioned pulleys by the previous installer. That can only come from years of professional experience and know-hows. He also explained everything to me in clear ways as he was doing his job. He was also very professional, courteous, and pleasant, carefully listening to my concerns and didn't mind me hovering around. I'm very happy that I called Mr. Stapp and I'm very happy with the outcome and the expertise that he brought.

Ed is quick, professional and very friendly. Returned call on Sunday, and showed up on time the next. Replaced garage door springs in less than an hour. Good job! Suggested using 4 smaller springs (2 each side) instead of 2 big ones, and explained to me that with the same cost (vs 2 springs), it would work bette. The price is on the higher end. For a single 16 feet door, the job costs $450 originally, and I ended up paying $350 after $100 Angieslist member discount, and with one year warranty. The Angieslist has a price report on the cost of replacing garage door springs, and the costs varies, most of them are in the $150~$200 range, some of them are between $150 and $300, with 5~7 year warranty.

Ed was extremely professional and polite. He explained what he was going to do and why. He was honest and didn't try to sell me anything extra. Would definitely use again.

Ed was quick, reasonable and professional. This guy had my garage door transformed in less than 3 hours, and even took my old opener away. When I called him a couple of days later for a minor tweak, he came the very next day. Unlike other contractors, Ed only works on garage doors, and he is a master. Do not hesitate to use him at all. It went fine. He showed up right on time, replaced the rollers and put in a new battery into the keypad, and did not try to upsell me on additional services. I would use this provider again for necessary repairs.

I'll add one more great review to the long list. I called up Ed on a Friday morning and he was there that same afternoon. He looked at the equipment, measured the doors and left me brochures and a quote. When I decided to engage him, I called him up on a Thursday and he was there with his truck on Monday with everything ready. He came to the job at noon and wrapped it up by 5p. He was neat, efficient, and thorough with his installation. In addition, he was very friendly, informative and knowledgeable. On more thing. Due to miscommunication on my part, I had told him the wrong style of door. He was pleasant and accommodating when I informed him of this on the morning of the installation, and made a special trip to the supplier to exchange and still got to the job on time. What can I say? A dependable, thorough professional and a pleasure to deal with. A+

We had a great experience from beginning to end. Ed was flexible on appointment time to accommodate our schedule - he was prompt, professional and easy to deal with throughout the process. He explained everything to our satisfaction, brought samples and his price was lower than expected. I highly recommend Ed Stapp after he did an outstanding job for me. He was prompt when he came to do an estimate and when he came to do the job. He told me that I did not need a new automatic door opener because mine looked OK. Along with the door, he gave me new hardware: cables, pulleys, etc. He was professional, friendly, and respectful. I would recommend him to neighbors and friends, for new garage doors or for repairs.

I can't think what could have been done better. The whole process started with meeting us after work to review our options for the replacement of our existing garage doors. Ed was thorough as he listened to what we were looking for and provided us with recommendations and options. Once we received the call that our doors were in, we were able to schedule the installation on Saturday. His installation was very neat and organized, with two new doors completely installed by early afternoon. I would not hesitate to use Ed again.

. Ed responded right away to my phone message. He arrived promptly at the agreed upon time, and got right to work. Explained what would be done and finished the job quickly. I will definitely call Ed for any future garage door repairs or replacement.

The best part of this install was his price was cheaper, and he didn't have to come out and razzle/dazzle me for a quote on a garage door opener and then return later to do the work. He quoted me online based on what i wanted and needed, he came out and that's when i met him for the first time. He installed the garage door opener with ease. Showed me how to use the outside keypad. Very nice gentleman. My experience with another company was that they wanted to upsell me (back-up garage door opener battery/new garage door), and they charged a little more than what Edward charged for even the basic one, so in the end, Edward was more convient and simply gave me what i wanted, quickly and efficiently.

The appointment was scheduled very quickly and he arrived on time. He diagnosed and fixed a problem with the Garage Door. It wasn't closing because the chain was getting caught on something. He also changed the springs and rollers. He did not charge extra for fixing the issue we had.

He discovered a problem that needed fixing and that we were not aware of. His correction of this problem avoided a future repair call.

I called Edward Stapp and left a message that I needed garage door springs to be replaced as one was broken and that I found his name on Angies List. Shortly after this he called back and said he was on a job and would be able to come to my house about 4 PM. Not much later he called again and said he was finished with the job and could be at my house shortly and he arrived about 2 or 3 PM. He took a look, explained that he would replace both the springs, the cables, and the pulleys. As the the springs on the other door were as old as the one that broke and showed some stretching I asked him to do both doors and he confirmed the price. He immediately set to work taking down the old springs, pulleys, spring and safety cables and installed all new parts. He worked efficiently and completed the installation for both doors and checked that they were properly balanced. He removed all old parts and left the place clean. A top quality job. I definitely would use him again.

It went pretty well. Since then we did not have any issues with the garage door. The only negative thing about it was the price. Other than that, everything was fine but still there is a squeaking sound.
