\xSeveral reevaluations due to changing nature of the scope of work that needed to be done. Lew & George Merryfield were very knowledgeable about the repairs needed and worked within our parameters. Once determinations and price were agreed upon the work went on schedule and the property was left clean.

have them do the work.I called Merryfield to get an estimate for new soffits. Howard came out within a couple of days to see what I needed. He also explained that they should replace the gutters and downspouts. I could see what he meant, and after reviewing the estimate, agreed to have them do the work. They made an appointment to come do it, and this is where I had the only "hiccup". I was expecting a call, so I could come home from work and let them in. As it turned out, though, they had called the wrong phone number. However, by the time I called the office, their work crew had already started! (They didn't need to get into the house for this outside work.) I have to give them credit for their initiative! The work was finished in a single day, and our house looks a look nicer now.

I first contacted the construction group and waited about four days for an initial response. Contractor told me he would be there the next day or the following for an estimate. Then, two days later I received a call saying he would get to it in a few days. I waited. Then I called him to find out what was going on and he said that he never got to it and he would be out on Monday (This was Friday). Got a call Monday to hear from him that the estimated job would be anywhere from $5500 to $7000. This is highway robbery since I already received two estimates for $1850 and $2100. Proffessionalism and communication was minimal. I am going with another contractor who came out the same week I asked for an estimate and wrote up an itemized proffessional estimate and emailed it to me promptly. Terrible experience with this company. Would not reccomend.

It went really well. They gave us a fair price with a military discount because my husband is military. They came when they promised and they cleaned up well. I had no complaints at all. They did a good job.

It went great. They were awesome. They really took care of us. They were on time, they were great, cleaned the house very well every time they leave, and they didn't leave anything laid around. I couldn't ask for a better construction company. They were professional, courteous and they do great work. If there was anything I want to do in the future, I would certainly use them. We'll use this company where we don't have any issues.

Overall, it went well. There was a hiccup between the quoted price and the end price because the quote did not factor in the possiblitly of rotted soffits. The owner called to apologize and told me the quality would make up for the error. He was right. They did a great job. The crew was terrific.

On time and professional. Very responsive to questions, phone calls. Cleaned up when work was done.

They took pictures and were supposed to come up with a better price to fix the complete problem. However, the salesman would never give me a further price by phone. I had to take off work to meet him and wanted to get a ball park price by phone to see if we were in the same ballpark. He refused to give me a price and would only do so face to face.

They finished the work in two days. Everything looks good.

The work was completed; quality of work was very good; the date when the work was performed is an approximate date as I no longer remember the exact date. Gutters are holding well.

They were easy to deal with. I got calls back right away. They were running late and called to tell me they got held up. A friend told me it was a bit pricey for gutter cleaning and 2 seams to be resealed, but it was worth it to me if it fixes the overflowing gutters. The guy took 14 tennis balls out of my gutter

Went over work to be done by Tim Carpenter and his helper. oversaw the work done and made sure we were happy with the work.

They worked very professionally. Came promptly in the morning and cleaned up around the job before leaving for the night. Worked around the weather (It snowed during the job.} Made sure it was secure and ready to go forward as they finished each step. Gave good advice as to what needed to be done. Added tightening up the back stairway to make it more secure to the job. Have contracted to do some inside work at another property in the near future. Very happy with Merryfield Construction Group.

Salesman spent a lot of time with me going over options for both the gutters and guards and the replacement of my front door. Although I told him I was interested in a fiberglass door, he kept trying to convince me that a wood or steel door is a better option. He took quite a while trying to change my mind about this, but finally got down to showing me what he had in terms of fiberglass doors. Bottom line is he gave me a quote for both the door and the gutter replacement, which was very good. He didn't leave me with a written quote, but said the office would email that to me. When I got the email quote was actually $600 more than what he quoted me. I called him immediately and I was told that I was mistaken and the quote was correct and what he had told me in my house. He then said he left paperwork with me, which he did not. Part of this $600 difference was for a change in pricing for the hardware on the door. He Said that he didn't have an updated price list for his hardware when he saw me. So, I knew that I was going to be hit with another $250 higher than his quote, which I agreed to. Where we differ is, I asked him twice at my home was his price inclusive of both the door and the gutters and guards. He told me twice that it was. I said no tax.....he said, no tax. So, too bad, I was going to hire them,but not now. I see on Angie's List they have good reviews, so I don't really know what to think of these people. I'll be going with another door company and another gutter company. Very disappointed, needless to say.

The experience was good. They are professional. They are prompt and polite. They cleaned up. We had no problems or issues with them.

A tree fell on the house. Damage to 2 different gutters and some facia and siding on the 3rd floor. Regular handyman (who has done a lot of great work for us) said he could do it for $750-$900 but that it would be hard for him and he really wasn't interested in doing it. After a few months I got my act together and our plumber (also excellent) recommended Ken Morton. Ken came out and wrote up a proposal to submit to the insurance company. FOR $5000!!!!! The proposal lacked any specifics on labor or materials and when I asked him for a more fleshed out version to submit for insurance he complained about insurance companies wanting to tell him how much he could make.....and failed to supply a different version. So.....the next morning and 10 minutes after another text from Ken about how hard a breakdown would be ("We are a project bidder. We bid a price on a project. That is what we do.") I want on Angie's list and found Merryfield Construction. Lou Merryfield came out to my house that afternoon and checked it all out. Got on the roof, looked inside the area, checked out the side gutter (I had repaired but it needed a real fix). I asked Lou to send me a quote and he said, I can give you an approximate number right now if you like. They wrote it up for $850. Today in 20 degree weather Lou's brother George and another guy came out and did the work. When they arrived, George evaluated the whole project, reinspected, checked out the proposal Lou put together, and talked me through the whole thing. George explained all aspects of the job and made sure I had no further questions. Several times he reiterated that if I had any questions or problems they would take care of them. I had to leave to teach before the job was finished but George called to say they were done, how it had gone, and that if I was happy, they would be in touch about payment. When I asked how much it would be he seemed puzzled and said "Um.... the $850 we quoted".... I came home, inspected the work (All done expertly and excellently), and Lou arrived an hour later to collect the check FOR EXACTLY THE PROPOSED AMOUNT. All in all, the experience was EXCELLENT and I'm quite impressed as this is my first Angie's List Experience. Lou confessed that he uses the service for things for his house too. I hope I can use Lou and his gang again. Bryan Glassboro, NJ

Fantastic. I am not the reviewing type, but it's only fair to express how well these guys worked. The price was great. They were on time. They return phone calls in seconds. They were fast and clean. They know how to work with people. As a general rule of thumb, contractors are over-budget and take longer than expected and I'm fed up with them by the end of the project. This was not the case at all. I couldn't recommend Merryfield's more strongly, and again, I wouldn't review them if I really was not happy. Take my word for it, they are the right choice.

Went well after a delay in scheduling an estimate appointment.

Extremely professional and honest. Cost was just as quoted. I checked on all work that was completed and it was finished exactly how I had hoped.

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK! I purchased gutters to be installed on my home. They were installed incorrectly and I contacted the office. When I finally received a reply, I was promised that a new team would be out to fix the problem. A couple of weeks passed during which time we had several rainy days. It was clear the gutters were NOT operating properly. Finally, a new team arrived. Team #2 told me that everything done by team #1 was incorrect and they needed to readjust everything. They also installed a hideously ugly diverter flap in the front of my home. I have lived in my home for over 30 years and never did the previous gutters require a diverter flap. We had several more rainy days, and the gutters were performing worse than when they had first been installed! I called the office. Again. I was told another team would be out to fix the gutters. Several more weeks passed and I hadn't heard from Merryfield. I called again. Again I was told they would be out. Another couple of weeks passed and Team #3 finally showed up. He was appalled at the way the gutters had been adjusted and promised to come back in one week to fix them. Several more weeks passed and I hadn't heard from Merryfield. I placed several more calls, which were never answered. I had finally had enough. I had paid for a product that had NEVER operated properly. I sent a letter to the office requesting a refund and that they remove the gutters. I would have another reputable company install new gutters. I received a phone call from Lewis, part owner of the business. He apologized and agreed to give me a refund. Had that happened, I would have been fine because he had done what was necessary to make the situation right. However, that did not occur. The next day I received a phone call from the other owner, George. He was belligerent and rude and he blatantly refused to honor the refund Lewis had previously agreed to give to me! He flat out reneged! He then said he had to come and "assess the gutters". Where was he during the three months I patiently worked with his unresponsive company to fix the gutters in the first place?! NOW, he wanted to "assess the gutters". Instead of refunding my purchase price, he scheduled an appointment, which he changed several times and the day he was supposed to arrive, he was late. Never did he take responsibility for the poor service by his employees nor did he admit that the gutters were not installed properly. When I told him about my months of calling his company with little or no response, his answer was, "We're a big company and that's how big companies do business." Are you kidding me? Since when is customer service and standing behind your product not important regardless of the size of the company? Though George refused to admit the gutters were not installed properly, it was apparent they were not as they were bent in the middle. This proved his company had not installed the proper number of angle spacers to support the gutters. Even I could see that with the naked eye. I told him I no longer felt comfortable with him or his company and I yet wanted a refund. It took me another five weeks to receive my refund. Using this company is a complete gamble on the customer's part. If Merryfield does the work properly the first time, you MAY be in luck. However, if there is a problem, your chances of getting them to correct it are slim and even if by some miracle you manage to get an agreement from one owner, the other may very well renege on the promise. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

Everything went smoothly and I was pleasantly surprised by the price.

I had the gutters on the back of my row home replaced. With all the other great reviews I have to assume my situation was unique and doesn't happen often but from the first moment I had some troubles. The day I had the estimate done, the gentleman from Merryfield was hours late. Not a huge issue since I was home that day and having other estimates done as well. They did call, but only a couple of hours after they were due to have already been there. I'm not one to hold a grudge so I hired them about one week later and my schedule date and time was just a few weeks away. No surprise, the guys actually installing the gutters were late by a couple of hours and I had to run to another appointment, which meant I could not be there when everything was finished. Unfortunately, I was not too happy with the job (particularly the down spout) when I returned and immediately called Merryfield. Someone did come out to take another look and agreed that the piece connecting my downspout to the exterior of the home should have been changed and the old one should not have remained. I was promised that my issue would be resolved by having the installers come out and replace this piece but nothing came of it. I did call the company a few times and left a few messages but heard nothing. I don't think I will need gutters for awhile but I also want be recommending them to family and friends.

Supervisor honest and assured quality job. Crew worked very well together. Finished job looks better than I hoped. Great Job.
