I thought the workmanship was poor, didn't finish within the time frame, no receipts given, too costly for amount finished. I released him from the contract after 5 months and not completed project.
Description of Work: Tried to renovate my garage into handicapped bedroom & bath with storage area.

This was a nightmare. I did everything I was suppose to do. I got a contractor's name from Angies list, got his estimate along with two other contractor estimates (his was in the middle), checked his references, checked the Better Business Bureau and insisted on only 1/3 down, I should have checked with the Consumer Reports agency also (his name was listed as poor work). Be more proactive with checking on the work and don't be afraid to speak up if it doesn't look right (which I did, but, I should have been more insistent on some of the explanations). Don't be afraid of being wrong with your questions,
Description of Work: Purpose of renovation was to change 2 car garage into handicapped bedroom, bath and storage area for handicapped veteran. He first showed up with a crew to tear out the insides of the garage but, the crew changed into just him and an apprentice and sometimes it was just him. He was very pleasant and accommodating. but, his work was very unprofessional. When putting in the studs on the cement floor of the garage he did not put down the barrier that was required by the inspector. It had to be done between the studs that were already in place. The flooring that he used was of poor quality materials so thin that it sagged in-between the studs when you walked on it. After discussing it with him, he added another layer to it, but in my opinion, it still didn't feel right. The door to the outside that he installed, was put in crooked and incorrectly. The windows that were installed (4), were replacement windows, instead of new construction ones. The roof over our three window extension added to the front of the garage space, in my opinion, was covered incorrectly and would have leaked during snow buildup. The entrance to the room was not regulation width for handicapped usage and had to be changed by our new contractor. A closet that was for linen and a private safe, was constructed too small, in my opinion, because it had no molding for the door closure to fit. It took weeks to find and install the piping and sewer connection, which was hand dug. He hired the electrician, which did not put in a larger enough panel box for the circuits, and when asked to come back and finish his work, it took weeks for him to respond. I feel that almost everything that he did, had to be redone by the new contractor that I hired after releasing him from the job. His contract stated that the project was to take no more than 60 days, but 5 months later, he was only half done. I feel that his poor workmanship caused my air conditioner and heater to clog with dust and needed to be replaced. This was done for the cost of another $11,000, in addition to his fees and the cost to complete the project.. He showed me no receipts for anything done and I paid for almost all of the items that were installed.

Mr. Ramseur did a great job. Although the roof itself wasn't leaking, the shingles had been poorly installed, and the roof decking was in fair condition. Unlike other contractors that assessed the job, Mr. Ramseur did not try to sell us on a new roof or major roof repairs that were not necessary at this time. He carefully diagnosed the problem, and did the majority of the repair in one (very cold) day. Care was taken so as not to damage the weakened roof. The estimate was delivered promptly, and the Angie's List discount was honored. He and his partner were professional and cordial.
Description of Work: An area of the roof around the chimney was leaking. It was determined that the chimney itself was disintegrating, allowing water to soak through the concrete. The old concrete surface of the chimney had to be removed, and new concrete applied over metal lathe.
