+ 1 morePhil contacted me by e-mail and asked for pics of the two cracks. I snapped some pics and sent them. He said he knew that injections would fix the crack. He didn't tell me that they would be jack hammering my floor. That was a surprise when it happened. I was expecting it not to leak again, but I guess if it ever does leak it wont leak across my floor like it has been. Both injections went through the whole wall to the outside. I was advised to leave the injection ports and epoxy on the wall, although Joe did say that I could carefully hacksaw the ports not disterbing the epoxy. I opted to carefully cut the extra length of the ports off. There was some extra urethane, but I squirted a little more water to active the liquid urethane--so it closed the ports up. I then scuffed up the epoxy with sand paper and painted white. It looks great. I just need a good rain to test it. They cleaned up well. 5% Angie's list discount and another discount for cash.

+ -1 morePhil was very responsive even though he was on vacation. Came out and did an estimate just after return from vacation. Submitted an estimate and proposal by email the same evening. I scheduled the service and gave a deposit. The owner and crew arrived on time, actually arrived early (appointment scheduled for 7am, arrived by 6:45am). Crew got to work immediately they were very careful not to damage any landscaping and cleaned work area thoroughly after job was complete. The experience could not have gone smoother. Customer service was top notch. An experience such as this will make me a lifetime member of Angie's list

+ 0 moreI must first say after interviewing many other waterproofing companies, I went with Phil and his family. They arrived early and listened to me and my concerns. They wrapped the heater, the hot water tank and slowly began to bring in their tools. I was amazed! They were all professional and extremely helpful. They worked hard and the job went well. They replaced the old rusty windows with new insulated vinyl ones. They began to use their jack hammer and continued for about 3-4 hours, then they began the clean-up process. My wife was amazed. They were diligent and cleaned up everything and installed new pipe and added new pumps. They're by far the best in the business. If you want a dry basement, mold and draft free hire, Phil and his crew, you will not go wrong with him! I have been lucky since I have join Angie's List. I have found some excellent contractors. THEY ALSO REMOVED THE OLD UNITS, ALONG W/WASHER, DRYER, ETC. AND INSTALLED NEW FRENCH DRAINS, A PIPE UNDERNEATH THE CEMENT TO CATCH WATER RISING UP FROM THE GROUND. 5 GUYS ARRIVED AT 6:45AM AND WORKED HARD UNTIL A LITTLE AFTER NOON. AMAZING. MY KIND OF WORKERS. VERY NICE. DID A GREAT JOB FROM WHAT I CAN SEE. GLAD TO HAVE THE OLD WOODEN UNITS REMOVED. I THREW THEM ALL OUT. NOW, I CAN'T SAY IF IT WILL WORK UNTIL WE GET SOME HEAVY RAIN. I HAVE A STREAM FED POND (2 ACTUALLY) RIGHT IN THE BACKYARD SO I'VE BEEN GETTING 2 FT OF MUDDY WATER IN MY BASEMENT WHICH IS DISGUSTING. MY WASHER/DRYER ARE DOWN THERE. SO, ONCE WE GET A FEW MORE RAINS I'LL WRITE A FOLLOW UP TO LET YOU KNOW HOW IT WENT. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT WILL WORK. I'VE HAD A WET BASEMENT FOR 33 YEARS... Description of Work: Phil and his crew arrived right on time. They wasted no time. My crawl space was cleaned and remediated. The crawl space dirt floor was cleaned and graded with dirt being removed through the house. Great care was taken by the team to keep the house completely clean. The old sump pump was removed. A drainage system was created around the entire crawl space perimeter. A new sump pump pit and new sump pump with battery backup was installed. While this work was being done an additional pit and sump pump was installed outside the house at a problematic low point. They ran drainage lines through the front yard and restored the lawn. I would certainly not hesitate to call on these guys in the future. Exceptional company.

+ 0 moreProvided great service from start to finish. They were quick to give the initial estimate, responded quickly to a number of questions I had about the work to be done. The proposal was given in the form of a legitimate contract with a written warranty. Showed up on time, were careful to keep the mess contained and cleaned it all up. Worked very quickly and were finished in much less time than I had expected. Not grading the price, as I didn't get multiple quotes for this job so I have no benchmark against which to compare. Will update if we experience any flooding issues in the near future, but I have every expectation the work was done well and we won't have to call back.

He showed up on time, took me around and laid out what he was thinking of doing. He offered a better price than the others quoted, and actually offered to do additional work not offered by the others. The day the work was performed, he and his team showed up on time as promised, and went to work. They installed a vapor barrier in our crawl, and removed insulation that had fallen or proven unnecessary. They were very courteous, and finished ahead of time. Everything worked out wonderfully. + 0 moreOn the first day, the work crew arrived about 15 minutes earlier than start time. They immediately unloaded equipment and set up for the day's work. As promised, the seven-man crew flew into action at 7:00 a.m. sharp. Everyone stayed busy and worked like a fine-tuned machine. Even the boss showed up to work and supervise his team. Music played and jack hammers pounded, while workers heaved out chunks of broken concrete all day long until quitting time. The next day started about the same way but with a smaller crew. Drains went in and the mess went out. When finished, they thoroughly removed debris and washed down the basement floor. While other workers packed and cleaned up around the outside of our house, the guy in charge reviewed the job with us, explained the sump pump system, and expressed his thanks. Long story short: My husband and I were impressed with South Jersey's professionalism throughout the entire process. Workers were friendly and diligent at the same time. Thanks, guys...we have already recommended you to our friends and neighbors!

+ -1 moreThe work took approximately two days as promised. Mold was remediated and wood was sealed, drain was installed, as was new sump, and new door and railroad tie entry to the crawl space. After a day or so we noticed that the sump seemed to be running continuously and was not shutting off. We called SJ and they came out right away and made a small adjustment. SJ Waterproofing was very helpful and accommodating during the entire process. We subsequently had the crawl space tested by a professional air quality testing firm and they found zero mold. My only suggestion is that homeowners be given a choice of the different types of sealers available, clear or pigmented (white). I am told that both types are equally effective, but the pigmented type covers up any of residual (dead mold)--comes down to a matter of preference. We have checked the crawl space several times after heavy rainstorms and it has been completely dry each time. We have been very happy with the work performed by SJ Waterproofing.
Description of Work: We live in an area with a high water table, so all the homes were built without basements. Our home has a crawl space with a concrete floor and drainage system and sump pump installed by the builder. Over the past 20 years, we noticed that whenever we had heavy rain, that the floor of the crawl space would have standing water of anywhere between 1/2 to an inch in some areas. During an energy audit, we were informed that some of the joists under the living area were showing signs of mold growth. At this point, we decided to do some research and asked SJ Waterproofing to provide an estimate and recommendations. SJ came out and recommended installing a new french drain and sump pump (our other pump would be connected as a backup). In addition they would spray the underside of the floor with a biocide and then seal it against mold. They also put in a new door to the crawl space (the old one was shot) and they replaced the railroad ties for the entrance (which I provided). I wanted to know why a new french drain would be any better than the current one. They explained that unless the trench is dug out properly, pipe is set with the right pitch, and care is taken when laying stone so the pipe is not obstructed or crushed, that a system may not drain properly. Builders will often put something in that meets building code, but unless installed correctly, it won't work very well.
