You (Angie's List) need to be better about the wording on your "Big Deal" offers. I felt like this was a scam, especially since you don't give us any way to contact the provider of the services so that we can talk to them prior to actually purchasing your "big deal". I'm beginning to really not appreciate the "value" that Angie's List offers.

Did not use the service but they were timely in calling me.

I had a very good experience with American Kitchen Refacing throughout the entire process. My existing kitchen cabinets were actually in good condition (only 7 years old), but I was very unhappy with the original finish color installed by the builder. I had an estimate by these folks and two other providers. The estimates were all more or less in the same general price range, but my impression was American Kitchen would provide the best service. My impression turned out to be correct and I'm extremely happy with the result. I went with an espresso finish, with approx 40 all new raised panels (much better quality panels than I had previously), and supplied my own hardware. The installer, Ray, was great. He was extremely courteous and helpful, and did an outstanding job. He removed all the old panels, hardware, molding and trim; basically took everything down to just the base cabinet boxes and drawers. Everything got a new laminate overlay in the new finish - they even covered the underside of the cabinets. Then new door/drawer panels, hardware and molding/trim. The install took one full week to complete. I was amazed at how well it turned out, you'd never guess it was a refacing and not the original cabinet work. I was happy with my existing granite counters and tile backsplash, so just refaced the cabinets with new hardware, and replaced the faucet and some lighting. Also had my electrician install some hard-wired under cabinet lighting after the reface was completed. I now have what looks and feels like a completely new and upgraded kitchen for a fraction of the cost. Couldn't be happier with American Kitchen Refacing and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

The young lady who answered the phone was polite. She answered all my questions.

The deal was for 2000.00 off and I thought it was for 2000.00 worth of work. The work will still cost me between $4000-$13000, which I don't have. I was not happy to hear that.

They explained the deal and were very pleasant about it. I misunderstood the deal and I am seeking a refund from Angie's List.

Costs came in much higher than other quotes I received and they were giving a $2000.00 discount.

When I first read the offer I thought it was a good deal for me. About 6 yrs ago I got a complete new kitchen. But there were a few things that needed to be done. So I thought I could have $2,000. worth of work done for $199. but after I ordered the deal, I read the small print. It was more like, if you have a 15,000. job done by us we will take off, $2,000. I felt the way it was presented, it was misleading.

I thought the deal was for $199 for $2000 worth of work. But when they contacted me it was actually for $2,000 off of a finished job.

I called after I purchased the deal to ask questions about it. The woman implied that they would come and take a look and see what I needed to have done and then just take the $2000 off the total estimate. She stated if they gave $2000 worth of kitchen cabinet refacing to everyone, they would be out of business. I am just requesting a refund, I think the deal wording is misleading and I did not like my first interaction with this provider.

I was informed after I purchased the Big Deal that the $2000 would come off the final bill that would start at $7000 and could go up to $30,000. I think the add was deceiving.

I ended up not moving forward with the deal, due to extra costs. The description was clear, but they weren't willing to honor it. It seemed like false advertising.

We became aware of the company at the Home Show in Warminster, PA. They were responsive when we called and arrived promptly for the appointment. They work well with Element Granite and Quartz, the company that installed the new countertop. They made sure that the laminate we selected would look good with the new countertop. They had a nice selection of door/drawer styles and colors from which to choose. When the designer came, he fine-tuned the plan we had made at the initial consultation. The installation went very well. The installer was prompt and explained what he was doing. He left the kitchen usable at the end of every day and cleaned up very well. The whole process took less than a week, and the kitchen looks terrific. The laminate is a good quality and comes with a lifetime guarantee which we can pass on to the next homeowner. It cleans up very easily. The new drawers work well and the new cabinet he created is sturdy. The only negative thing I can think of is that the inside edges of the cabinet fronts do not get any refinishing. Perhaps it is to be inferred, since they talk only about the outer surfaces. After they were finished, there were some holes from the old hinges, and the darker wood was very obvious when the doors were open. However, a little wood filler and the matching paint I applied took care of this situation. I waited a few months to submit the review in order to see if any problems arose. In the end, we are very satisfied with how our kitchen looks and functions.

First day, installer was supposed to be here by 9:00 am. Called @ 9:20 and said he'd be here within an hour. Got here @ 10:15. The counter guy was late getting here to template and was supposed to install the following day. There was a problem and they didn't get installed until the day after that. There seemed to be some lack of communication between the cabinet and counter guys. About a week later several hinges on the doors were very loose. I called Sheryl and she had them back out in a reasonably time. All said and done I love my kitchen .I think there could be better communication between the office and installers but I would recommend this company.

This may be the single best experience I've had with any contractor ever! Their communication with me throughout the project was excellent. Everyone I dealt with in this company was super friendly and helpful. The timetable they gave me on day one was spot on. And, best of all the cabinets look amazing. My neighbors are jealous. It looks like a brand new kitchen. I had several bids on this job and they were the least expensive. By comparison, Home Depot was about 2K higher for the same job. It pays to shop around. I can't recommend this company enough.

There were some anxious moments. The installer who came to do the work was not made aware of a couple of services agreed to by the person who wrote up the work order. ( eg. Installing new microwave and changes in hanging side of two doors). Though communication was an issue at first, the company straightened up the confusion and the work was completed as agreed. The job was done well but not without some stress. We will need to install a row of edging tile to cover a gap between the new countertop and old tile backsplash. Luckily the tiles were all intact. The company does not do tile work. I would use this company in the future But i would be aware of possible communication issues.

Without a doubt, one of the best experiences we've had with any contractor. Start to finish, the process was seamless. Day 1 (back in November), the sales associate was on time, offered us quite a few options and brought all the necessary samples for us to make the right decision. Price was competitive to other re-facers and came with an Angies List discount at the time. And, we really liked the fact this is a family business - no subcontractors. Next, the measurers came in - on the day/date/time - they said they would. Gathered all the info, went back and ordered the materials, Now the fun begins. Our contractor for hanging the drywall - to be done before the cabinet work -- became un-available for the next 8 months. Meanwhile, American had already ordered (and probably paid for) the materials. "Not a problem," they kept saying. "When the drywall gets done, just let us know and we'll get you into the schedule." Fast forward to July - drywall is finally up and it's time for the install. Monday morning, 8/5, the installer shows up - on time. Thursday afternoon 3:30 pm, we essentially have a new kitchen. In between, outside of the necessary tools he left overnight and the install advancing in stages, you would have never known he was even there. He left the kitchen spotless when he shut down work for the day. Problem solving was well thought out, too. (How 'bout the kick board in front of the dishwasher. If the appliance needs to be repaired or removed - the kickboard can't part of a long run of molding under the other cabinets. He simply made that section detachable.) He even installed a new range hood we bought -- not exactly part of the contract but he did it anyway. The job itself is AMAZING. We didn't go for the most expensive re-facing materials - but it sure looks like we did. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was over-the-top. With some inexpensive pulls from Home Depot - this literally looks like a new $35,000+ kitchen. If we would ever need to re-do another kitchen - without hesitation -- American would be our only call.

Salesman extremely aggressive and argumentative in initial meetings in respect to product, manufacturers of the materials and costing for the entire job. After much discussion with the VP/owner (who performed work later) was able to work cooperatively. Workmanship was fine except we had to point out defective problems and get work re-done before end of the job. Upon completion, we never received an acknowledgement, followup call on the job for satisfaction nor even a simple thank you by mail for the job they did for me. I would not recommend this contractor as a result of this experience.

My husband and I have dealt with numerous contractors over many years, and we can very sincerely state that we have never had an experience as wonderful as we had with American, a family owned and operated business. Firstly, their price was substantially less than any competitor, and the quality of materials was better. Cheryl and Mike are consumate professionals (second to none), and both very responsive, timely, reliable and caring. Mike performed the actual installation and spent the better part of two weeks in our home. He was meticulous, caring, extremely trustworthy, responsive, on time, and more reliable than any professional contractor we have ever used. He sets the stage for exactly what you could expect on a daily basis, giving us a thorough outline each morning of what he expected to accomplish by day's end. In addition, I was 100% comfortable leaving Mike alone in our home for the entire day, and we trusted him implicitly. Also, Mike was faced with working with other professionals because we were having new appliances installed and had to have our granite counters lifted off. Mike had great suggestions to help in all areas, and worked extremely well with the other contractors. From the moment we met Mike, we knew we were going to go forward with him (as opposed to the competition), and we are forever grateful to him, Cheryl and the entire American staff for all their help and for making our kitchen absolutely beautiful!!

We found this company reliable, responsive to questions, and upbeat. The work was beautifully done, for the agreed price and makes our kitchen look brand new. They even fine-tuned our cabinets by turning each of two large cabinet doors into two smaller doors. The change not only made our cabinets more convenient, but also made them look more attractive and coordinated. If we want to do additional renovation, we will automatically contact American Kitchen Refacing; and we will recommend them to our friends. Our experience with them has been totally positive.

Couldn't be a better experience. Price was firm without extras. They came exactly when expected and worked daily until done. Clean ups were good and work quality was perfect.

I met Cheryl, a representative of this family-run company. at the Philadelphia Home Show in February 2013 and made an appointment for the week after the show ended. Gary, another representative/family member, was exactly on time for the appointment and he was at my house for an extended period of time - despite a constant barrage of text messages on Gary's phone, he never interrupted our conversation and I felt that I had his attention. He presented various ideas about which I need to think, especialy because the project is a LOT of money. Gary did offer a senior citizens 10% discount, but he failed to mention the Angie's List $1,000 discount or even the company's website discount of 20%. Although I am seriously considering utilizing this company for the work, I will definitely have to have further discussion about pricing/discounts.

When I initially contacted American Kitchen Refacing they were very thorough on the phone spending all the time I needed explaining refacing options. They even gave me a rough estimate by phone. They were flexible about a time to visit and give a firm estimate in person. They also went out of their way to provide referrals to other customers who had done similar work. They followed-up iwth us several times to see if we had further questions or could otherwise be helpful. Ultimately my wife and I decided to completely remodel our kitchen so we did not go with a refacing approach. If we had done refacing we surely would have used American Kitchen Refacing.

The final product looks beautiful! Very happy with the way it turned out. Mike and John came on time everyday at about 8.30/9am and were usually done for the day around 2/3pm. The timeline did get me a little worried initially about them finishing work by Fri. But they were all done by 3pm Fri! Mike definitely knows his stuff. He had the right suggestions and answers to all the questions. I'm very happy with the changes I was able to make in the functioning of the kitchen. I definitely feel like it works way more efficiently now. Let me explain. We had way too many doors and barely any drawers. The lazy susan was half the size it could have been. I'm assuming the builder put in the cabinet he had in stock. Such wasted space! - So we converted the Center Island to all drawers plus added an additional base cabinet to the existing two. - The back of the cabinet in the lazy susan was knocked out and I was able to put in a larger lazy susan in to maximize the space. - In another cabinet we kept the doors but added drawers that were the full width of the cabinet instead of the 2 narrow ones that were there. For which the center rail was taken out.(The drawers added are deep drawers and a can now accomodate way more stuff that previously. So now, all the pots and pans that were spread across the kitchen where ever i could fit them now have a new home in the center island drawers. And the lazy susan now moves! Earlier my handles of my pans were always in the way. Fyi, I choose Antique White Laminate for the cabinets on the periphery and Coffee color in Wood for the Center Island. Both in Shaker style. We were initially unsure if we should go with a bright white or antique white, and now I must say Antique was the way to go for us. It's a nice creamy color which goes well in our home. A bright white would have been to stark. Also, we added a Farmhouse sink, for which Mike had to cut into the existing base cabinet and add support for it. He did a great job of making that happen! We went with the Kohler Short Apron sink so that it would fit in with the existing cabinetry and still work as an Under Mount Sink.
