A-1 LOCKSMITH

We called A1 and Bob came over in no less than a half hour. He got us into our house, changed the locks for us and repaired the garage door opener in a very short time. He was very prompt, professional, courteous, patient with us trying to figure out the new locks, and he even noticed a problem with our fuse box That he advised us to look into. We were so satisfied with our overall experience with Bob. We will definitely recommend him to anyone who needs his services. Thank you Bob!

I would not recommend this locksmith (Joe Carlo) to anyone unless you enjoy literally being ripped off. First of all, Joe Carlo never provided me with an estimate BEFORE starting to work on the doors even though I explicitly requested one. He came to the house, I showed him which doors need what locks replaced/added, and he immediately started working without first explaining what needed to be done and most importantly how much it would cost me. I found this to be extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and rather ARROGANT that he assumed I wanted to hire him for the job. I decided to go along as to avoid confrontation. He needed to come back the next morning as he did not have 2 of the locks he still needed to replace and before he left that evening I asked him about paying him for the day's work and he immediately shrugged me off and said he would collect the money tommorrow (the next day he came in the morning to finish the 2 remaining locks). I wanted to know how much it would cost, and he just walked out the door and said see you tomorrow morning at 9:30. Then next day he came on time at 9:30 am and he finished the remaining work. He then gave me the bill which was an astounding $930, and with taxes a total of $995!!!!!!! I was literally breathless as he darted out my kitchen after handing me the bill. I decided to pay the bill and not argue at this point as I was scared to be confrontational as I was alone in the home and did not want to start an argument at this time. I decided that weekend to investigate the actual prices of locks an consulted with 3 other area locksmiths about the work that Joe Carlo did and what he charged me and indeed all 3 locksmiths independently confirmed clearly that I was not only over-charged but severely ripped off!! When I told them that he failed to give me an initial estimate for the work before starting the work, they indicated that that was the crook's ticket to charge me an astounding and outrageous price in the end. They advised me to call him and demand my money back as according to them I was overcharged by 3 TIMES what is fair and usual by other local locksmiths. I did call Joe Carlo and after asking him to explain all the charges on the bill, he proceed to offer outrageously LAME excuses for his outrageous fees. He evidently DOUBLE-DIPS by charging at least 6 times the cost of the lock for the lock itself AND in addition he adds to this separate LABOR AND SERVICE FEES which DO NOT make sense. When I challenged him about this, Joe Carlo simply avoided the question by saying that he thought I was such a nice person when he met me and that quite frankly he is so surprised to hear the harsh tone in my voice on the phone. I replied reminding him that this wasn't about me and whether I am nice or not, but about the fact that he RIPPED me off profoundly. I indicated I want my money back, at least 2/3 of it as per my discussions with three other locksmiths with whom I had consulted. HE REFUSED to even consider making a monetary adjustment to the money I already paid and in fact he even went so far as to indicate that this is what locksmiths in the area charge. Joe Carlo is simply a CROOK in its classic definition. He should have provided me with an estimate at the beginning and I should have had a chance to decide whether to hire him or not based on this cost estimate and he never gave me that chance. He is higly UNPROFESSIONAL and has very POOR business ethics. In the end, he did not even acknowledge my anger and frustration which shows me he does not care AT ALL about his customers and providing a service that utlimately pleases them. He is a HORRIBLE person and HARDLY a professional. He is nothing short of a scam artist who comes into your house, makes himself at home quickly and gregariously so that perhaps you overlook the fact that he NEVER gave you a cost estimate before he so QUICKLY starts working on your locks and then in the end slips a bill that is OUTRAGEOUS and UNETHICAL. If I did not have a job to go to everyday that takes up a significant portion of my life and a family and responsibilities that are more important than dealing with this complete A-HOLE and CROOK, I would DEFINATELY sue this A-HOLE for the money he stole from me. I have reported A-1 and Joe Carlo to the Better Business Bureau and have written bad reviews about him elsewhere so as to try to warn as many innocent and unsuspecting people looking for a fair and professional locksmith. I would never recommend this guy to even my worst enemy if I had one. Complete jerk and a crook!

I called him at 1:30, he was here by 2:30, and finished before 3! Absolutely a pleasure to work with from start to finish. A+!

I cannot emphasize enough how great this company performed. The tech came within an hour, worked quickly and cleanly, and charged a very reasonable rate. He was courteous and knowledgable. They've won a customer for life!

This is a family owned business and the owner was the one that came out to do the work. He did a fabulous job. He was very prompt and came out right away. I did have to have them come back because I had them do a bolt lock for me. Their prices are reasonable. In the future I would use him again in the future and recommend him to others.
