Description of Work: I had contacted Steve to perform several small jobs at my house. Unfortunately 2 of them he was unable to perform (a broken bed frame & fixing a stove hood) as they required an electrician and a furniture repair person but the other two smaller jobs he was able to satisfactorily complete.

Description of Work: Nothing. We made contact and after a jovial talk on the phone, during which he regaled me with tales of his excellent customer service, we set up an appointment to have him come to our house to look at the work I wanted to have done. Bing, bang, boom. Then the day of the appointment came and he was a no show. A no show, no call, no nothing. I never heard from him again. He either died or just isn't as obsessed with customer service as he claims.

Description of Work: Steve was fantastic and we would definitely use him again. Some of the services included replacing shutters, caulking the shower and kitchen counter, moving shelves in closets and fixing a leaking faucet. His estimate matched the actual cost - and the work that he performed was superb.

I diligently try to call every customer back, show up on time the day I am supposed to and give the best customer service to each and every individual. I keep a log pad in my truck, and one at home, and a large appointment schedule calendar. After reading this review, I check all three sources and cannot find any contact with this individual. I am not saying I didn't speak to him, I just don't have a record of it. On rare occasions I can make a mistake. It's entirely possible I lost the lead sheet. I try to answer all calls during the day and maybe in my haste I misplaced this information in my truck. If this is the case, I apologize and understand the customer's frustration. My one fault is I am human and every once in a while get overwhelmed with calls and something like this happens.

Response from Steve Fried The Handyman
I try to limit my service area to 2 counties. Unfortunately, some of those areas are on the fringe of the outer most locations. I charge for labor by the hour. I do not charge for travel time and basically have only 8 billable hours per day to work. I can't spend 2 hours traveling to do a 2 hour repair when I can't schedule another job any where near that location. I tried in the nicest way to explain that in my phone call and rather than tell her I would try to get to her when I had something in that direction (which I rarely get), I suggested she call someone closer to her location. Customer was not interested in my reccomendation.

Description of Work: I have an elderly mother in a different state. She was in need of a local handy man who could provide many services in need. Since she has met Steve she is like a different person. She no longer has any worries about the up keep of her home. I am so happy I chose Steve and since our initial talk I knew that they would be a perfect fit. She loves the work he does. She is very very happy with him and trusts him. The list of work that she has had him do was perfect and they now have a planned schedule for work that needs done well into next year. I feel very much at ease that she is being cared for her home and now has a great relationship with him.
