Complete Design framed out our ceiling and installed drywall for the installation of a cassette style mini split heating and air-conditioning unit back in August. They did a great job and would highly reccommend them.
We had a flood in our home that caused considerable damage throughout it (water leaked from a second floor bathroom while we were on vacation). Nearly everything was damaged - electrical, HVAC, walls, floors, plumbing.. which also led to mold. Dealing with our insurance company was a chore throughout the entire process, but Alan was a fantastic advocate in our corner when communicating with them. He was willing to fight to make sure they weren't trying to overlook damage. He was also extremely patient with us being new homeowners, thoroughly explaining all options available to us. Ontop of all of it, this overlapped the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Alan assured us him and his team would continue, and kept us updated on any kind of delays. We're very happy to have moved back into our home that's now light years better built and nicer looking than it did prior to our flood. I would highly recommend Alan and Complete Design Industries for remodeling work after a flood, and any contracting work in general.

Complete Design Industries has not only met but exceeded any expectations that we had for our very extensive renovation . Alan is a gift and is extremely thorough , talented, meticulous and most of all honest person .. A true pleasure to work with .. Someone that has steadfast integrity .. For once, a person that not only does what they promise but goes above and beyond what is expected.. A rare find in the world of construction... Alan provided us with a detailed estimate .... he kept us informed of any extras ahead of time and waited until we accepted before moving forward.. There were no suprises and his pricing was fair with exceptional work done.. In addition to his talent, and great work ethic.. he is a wonderful person.. a salt-of-earth kind of guy... .. From taking time out of his busy schedule to help us with an unexpected problem so that we could close expeditiously on a home... to making a house call at 9pm at night with his plumber in hand to help us diagnose a problem..NOT CHARGING US A PENNY. Once again, a rare find... You will not be disappointed , only happy that you have Alan and his workers on your team.. Thank you Alan, for all that you did for us!!!

Complete Design Industries did a phenomenal and thorough job on my kitchen cabinets and countertop installation! They were fairly priced compared to most estimates I inquired about for the job, and got the work done days ahead of schedule. They were helpful with idea suggestions and quality designs that fit my budget, went through each step of the process with me, and were very professional. I would highly recommend them for your home design and improvement jobs, and will surely hire them again. I can't wait to use my new kitchen!

Went great-they arrived on the date & time that was scheduled-the work was performed as described & the work area was left spotless. They did a beautiful job & I was very satisfied & would use them again.
Alan and his workers came to our house to finish on our basement ceiling. We needed drywall work done. The job got done within one week! Aside from the job being completed in a timely manner, it was also done very well, clean, and professionaly. We would absolutely use Complete Design Industries again for future home projects!

We had a burst water hose in our upstairs bathroom that flooded the house throughout the day. Alan and his team helped demo the upstairs bathroom, and all floors below it (a family room, laundry room, and half bathroom). Alan's team was very helpful with suggestions on how to improve our house as it was being rebuilt. We ended up converting the half bath to a full bathroom, and the new rooms are our favorite places in the house now. Alan and team helped get us through a really tough time dealing with the flood, and we would absolutely use him again and recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Repair flood damage in house, update one bathroom, convert a half bath to a full bath
Our house flooded from a burst hose in our upstairs bathroom. The water poured out of the bathroom into the hallway, down the stairs, into the family room. Water was coming out of the light fixtures, there were bubbles of water in the paint, it was devastating. My wife and I were at our wits end. We used a remediation company to deal with removing the water, and they recommended we work with Alan. We're grateful for that recommendation. Alan and his team helped us design the areas of our house that were destroyed, and we took the opportunity to improve them. We ended up converting our half bath to a full, and updated our upstairs bathroom. Alan and his team were friendly and honest. Now, several months after our rebuild, the areas that were rebuilt are our favorites. Our house is great, and we would absolutely use Alan and his team again, and we would recommend them to anyone.

CDI did an excellent job with our house project. Specifically, CDI did a great job with demo, tile work, cabinet install, and drywall. First, Alan was extremely responsive and able to tackle all aspects of the job. Second, CDI was priced well and worked hard to meet our tight timeline for work completion. Third, CDI leverages a broad range of experience and is an effective partner to help solve problems and offer pragmatic solutions. Fourth, CDI has contacts with other speciality contractors to seamlessly integrate aspects of work that are beyond CDI’s scope. Therefore, I would strongly recommend considering CDI; I will use them again without hesitation for the reasons listed above and for the quality of work they delivered.

This contractor completely ripped me off. I basically paid $1,700 for 4-5 hrs of labor for 2 men (main guy plus helper) for a job that had minimal material costs. That's $340 per hour. The main job took 3 hours, plus 1 hour to run to the supply store, plus 1 hour to redo some of the sloppy siding work. Here's the full story. I didn't winterize one of the outside water valves and had a burst pipe that was leaking from the siding above the basement. Alan came to give an estimate but couldn't give a specific one because he couldn't tell where the leak was without opening up the siding. He said that the worst case scenario if he had to open up a finished basement wall would be around $1,100. I figured that was my ceiling if it turned into a huge job. Nothing was in writing. When his crew came (2 men: a main worker and a helper), they removed 4-5 siding panels from the bottom of the house, some of which cracked as Alan said they might, which is understandable. Then they removed the plywood, and the pipe was still hidden behind a wooden beam. At this point Alan said this could turn into a big job, but they would cut through the beam to find out. They cut out a section which revealed the pipe with the burst hole. This was about 2 hours into the job. At this point I figured this was a straightforward scenario. He told me they'd run to the supply store to get the materials (it was a local Jaeger Lumber store 5 min from my house). The materials were bare minimum - a Sharkbite pipe coupling, 2-3 pieces of insulation, and a piece of tarp paper to go under the siding. The supply costs would be well under $100. They came back from the store in an hour, then repaired the leak, and put everything back together in an hour. When I came to check the work, I noticed that they put the siding back crooked, very visibly, so I made them redo it. In the process of readjusting the siding, they put more cracks in the boards, as the guy was struggling to nail them. He said the nails were too long (whose fault is that?), so they kept getting bent as he nailed them and had to keep pulling them out causing my siding to splinter. In the end, they realigned it as best they could and caulked the cracks, but who knows who long that will hold. So the rework due to sloppiness took another hour which was their own fault for not measuring properly, but fine, let's include that in the job. At the end, Alan told me I owed $1,700, which I thought was ridiculous for 5 hrs of work (including supply run and re-work). I asked how much they charged per hour, and he said they charge by the job, not by the hour. Then I asked how it went from $1,100 ceiling for a major job to $1,700 for a simple job, and he said it was because he had to cut through the beam (which literally took 5-10 min). He said he has software that calculates what to charge, and that's what it comes out to, and that's it. I have no way of justifying this ridiculous price. He gave me no written estimate beforehand, and by the time he opened up the siding and cut through the beam, it was too late. Be forewarned that if you don't get a written estimate from this company beforehand, you will pay through the nose.

Response from Complete Design Industries
I apologize for the late response as I don't check on here often. Pricing structures vary greatly depending on the job as with most trades. If I recall correctly, when I came out to look at the job, we were originally going to cut some sections of drywall to gain access to the pipe and I quoted to remove and replace drywall. When I arrived, you informed me that the pipe is behind a section of siding. I recalled informing you that the price would be different to redo siding as opposed to drywall and that it would be a bigger job than just removing drywall. I also informed you that your siding would most likely crack from us removing it (due to its current state) and gave you the option of replacing it at that time since it would only be the cost of material (we were removing and resetting it anyway). You declined. You asked me for a price for the job to which I informed you I could not provide an accurate number because I could't see what was behind the siding. The best way I can express that situation is if there is something wrong with your car and you bring it to the mechanic to get a quote, but you tell him he can't open the hood, but you want a price to fix it. Or if you ask to replace the alternator, he gives you a price and the day you bring it in, you say its actually the transmission, but you want it done for the same price as the alternator he quoted. It's simply not fair to assume that, nor would any businesses be operating very long if they adhered to that code of ethics. When we put the siding on and you informed us that it was crooked, we corrected it. It would have been corrected regardless, I'm assuming it was hard to notice that it was crooked when you are up close to it. We shot a laser at it, but the sun was too bright and we couldn't see the laser line. Most trades do not charge by the hour, but rather by the job. If it would have taken me a week to finish your job or 1 hour, the price would have remained the same. I truly believe that if you or I would have retained a siding specialist to remove and reset your siding, you would have paid much more for just the siding portion compared to what I charged for the whole job. I would have brought in my siding contractor and my plumber, but I did not feel like the extra cost to you would have been cost effective. Before I left, you asked me about a warranty and I informed you that if you had any issues, to give me a call. I do mean that and hope that you never have to call about any work that we did. With all the rain we have been having lately and your basement is still dry, I have no doubts that what we did will hold up very well, but in the event that it doesn't, I am a phone call away. I am truly sorry that you were unhappy with our pricing structure, but I hope that you can appreciate it more now that I have explained it a little more in detail. Thank you for your feedback as it will help me improve my process going forward.

Everything was done in a timely manner. Christmas was fast approaching and we hoped that CDI would be able to complete the work by then. In spite of the limited time frame, they finished the job two days before Christmas. In addition, there were a couple of minor repairs which WERE NOT the responsibility of CDI. They returned at a later date and took care of this which really impressed me.

The demolition was 90% completed so I thought it would be an 8 hour job. Alex took the time to explain to me why it wasn't and that it would be three days at the most. He was very patient and tolerant as I didn't have all my materials ready. The job took 2 days, he honored Angie's List's rates and he did not micro charge me for the little fixes that were necessary to complete the job. I was very pleased with the execution and completion within two days. We even had an hour and a half remaining to sand the risers on my stairs which we never discussed but he was prepared to do at my last minute request. It was a pleasure having a contractor listen, explain and respect ymy time and budget. I would definitely use this company again and with the highest recommendation,

It went very well. Alan and his guys finished the work discussed on time. He took the time to explain the process and answered all of our questions. The tile work in the kitchen came out perfect! I can't express how beautiful it came out. The tile I originally selected Alan explained the pluses and minuses and We ended up changing the tile based on our discussion with him. The work he did in our garage came out perfect as well. He took the time to explain to us in detail the process and how it would look as well as gave us a lot of options. We will definitely hire him again to do the rest of the work needed in the house. Highly recommend him!

This is the second time I hired Complete Design Industries to do work for me and once again it came out perfect! I used beveled subway tile, the lines and grout came out great. No mess left after their work. I had all knobs installed and they were perfectly even with each other. The previous company I had was a nightmare and made multiple bad choices... luckily Alan and his team informed me of them and was able to make some fixes.
Description of Work: Backsplash and final touches. Also My cabinets were installed by other company improperly and Alan was able to completely fix it.
Alan did work at my father's house initially. So when I bought my house, I called him to redo the kitchen and basement. He came and gave me an estimate on a weekend. He and his crew started work the following week. He completed the work on time and answered all of my questions before, during, and after. I am very happy with his work and his professionalism.
