 + -1 moreInstallation went fine. In fact, took less than 15 minutes. The Skytech Model 1001-A is a basic on/off receiver with a remote. Installation consisted of replacing 2 wires to the gas valve. YouTube shows 2 preschool children completing the exact same job in about 10 minutes. Skytech Model 1001-A Available in Amazon New for $70.00 for both the remote and receiver. Quality of the product seems to be ok. Just a basic entry level on/off switch Labor Charge is $185.00 ( for the first 60 minutes).. Parts Cost: $150.00 Remote w/basic on/off receiver Tax $ 23.45 -------------- Total Charge $358.45 These charge are a disgrace.

 + 0 moreExcellent.It was very refreshing to find a company like Rettinger in this day and age. The sales person Alexis was extremely knowledgeable about the product and was very caring about our (my wife and I) situation and needs. She took her time in explaining the difference between vented and non vented gas fireplaces. She showed us a large selection of different fireplaces and took her time explaining the difference to us, letting us ask questions and answering all questions thoroughly so we understood the answer. Most salespeople today don't take the time to do this. We appreciated it very much. Our situation was whether to replace or repair our current fireplace. There was no pressure from Alexis on our decision. We decided to first try repair because of cost. She set up an appointment with Rettinger's repair department for the next day. Craig, the repairman called us first thing in the morning and gave us a 2 hour window in which he would show up. He arrived right on time and in minimal time diagnosed and fixed the problem. The cost was very reasonable. When it comes time to replace our fireplace I will definitely buy it from Alexis at Rettinger Fireplace System. I would recommend Rettinger to everyone who is looking for a reliable caring company who provides excellent service.

 + 0 moreRettinger's was a pleasure to work with from the beginning. After viewing their showroom and asking questions it was obvious they were very thorough and efficient. They explained the necessary steps to get a permit for the work and even wrote detailed steps that needed to be completed. They provided all necessary paperwork I needed for our permit. They were very responsive with any questions and made sure all measurements were exactly correct before ordering the product. They even came out the Saturday before Christmas so we could have our fireplace running on Christmas Eve! We passed the final inspection without a problem. They made a complicated process much easier by their efficiency.

That gave clear directions to measure our fireplace and we emailed them with the info. I had a response with a quote within hours. After that, we were in constant contact arranging installation. They recommended a plumber and electrician who were both excellent. Couldn't be happier with my overall experience.

The work was done professionally, and completely passed inspection for compliance with building codes. Upon close examination, I noticed a mar on the faceplate of the new installed fireplace insert. After contacting Alexis Rettinger, I received this reply: "First and foremost, please know that although we stand behind all of our carefully selected manufacturers, our customers come first and we will go to bat for our customers until they are 100% satisfied." Who could ask for more than that? A company that stands behind their product, AND assures your complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Rettinger Fireplace.
Description of Work: Installed Jotul C 550 CF wood insert in Majolica Brown Enamel and all associated materials.

 + 1 moreWe found them to be a pleasure to work with, highly professional and the finished product was excellent even though it turned out to be a challenging job due to the location and stone product we chose, together with what we wanted to do with our AV system. They agreed on a budget and schedule and stuck to it, even while making changes along the way to make sure things would work the way I want to with the AV system. They provided friendly, clean and professional service the entire time (they cleaned up so well that I could not even tell folks had just been working there when they were done). I would highly recommend them and would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We first used Rettinger Fireplace to replace the log set in the gas fireplace that came with our house after visiting several other fireplace stores closer to our home in Philadelphia. We were so pleased by their service that we went back to them when we decided to redo the mantel, surround and the entire wall that the fireplace is on in order to create a more elegant, yet rustic look and accommodate a new television and sound system. We replaced a standard white wood mantel, black slate surround/hearth and painted drywall wall with a custom granite mantel and hearth and Italian stacked stone for the rest of the wall, while also taking into account the television, sound projector and wiring that would need to be installed seamlessly on the same wall.

 + 0 moreWe dealt with Rettingers 10 years ago when we initailly moved into our house and they were miserable from the start. Gave us a hard time about coming back to fix something that they did not install properly. When we recently did an addition and our contractor recommended Rettingers, we were hesitant but trusted our contractor and figured a lot can change in 10 years. We were wrong - they again proved to be awful to deal with. I suppose there isn't a lot of competition in the area so they can continue to be nasty while still maintaining a client base. We've learned our lesson though.

 + -1 moreWe were pleased with the service. They were friendly, professional and prompt. Jim even took his shoes off when he came in and put down a canvas sheet so dirt didn't get on the floor. We used them previously and made a note to make sure to call for routine service.
Description of Work: Everything was fine when we turned on our gas fireplace on Saturday 10/29/11after not using it since last winter; however, on10/31/11 when we turned it on the flame was blue and it went out within a few minutes. We tried again and the same thing happened. We called Rettinger's who had serviced it in the spring of 2010. Lee thought it sounded like the thermopile and gave me an estimate but he did tell me that he couldn't be sure that was the problem as they would have to come out. Lee transferred me to the Service Department as they book the appointments. I was told they were booked for weeks but would get back to us when they openings in their schedule. On Wed. 10/16 Maya left us a message saying they could come out on Friday, 10/18/11 if we called her back to confirm. I was concerned because we got the message on Wednesday evening and I knew they were probably closed, but I called and left a message. I called 1st thing on Thursday morning and was told the young lady who called me wasn't going to be in until noon and she had the schedule. Maya called me at noon and confirmed the appointment for the next day between noon and 3:30 P.M. Jim came out, he checked the unit and said, yet it was the pilot. He worked on the fireplace and when he left it was on and everything was fine. About 5 minutes after he left it was off again. I called Maya & she gave me Jim's cell phone number. I called him and he was back within 5 minutes. He wire loosed when he had put everything back together, within minutes it was running great. We had it on over the weekend.
