The job did take longer than expected, but partially that was due to changes in the scope of the job after we started. Beechwood (BLA) was very flexible with that. They showed up when the said they would, and the quality of their work was really excellent. Especially the stonework and drive - his team was meticulous. I really like the design that Steve developed for our property, and it was just that - designed for our property. It was not a cookie cutter out of a software program. He clearly put a lot of thought into the upfront planning and design, along with his team. We did have one issue that needed adjustments during the course of the job, but BLA addressed the issue, and followed up to ensure we were happy with the result. No big job is without hiccups, and I think the mark of a good firm is how they deal with them. BLA is actually a pretty large organization for a landscaping firm - so be prepared to deal with that if you hire them. Sometimes communication needs to be monitored if you have a large job, but overall, they are an excellent team. I would definitely hire BLA again, and have recommended them to several of the people who have actually stopped, looked at the house and asked for information on the firm doing the job.

Found the name in Angie's list. Received a quote and signed a contract pay a deposit and got the services expected in the time they had scheduled. I continue to use their service on an annual contract for cutting, fertilizing and seeding.

Steve came out to have a look at our property. I described the renovations we were looking for in our backyard. I followed up with a detailed description of what we were looking for as well as a copy of our survey as he requested. He responded on April 6, 2011 to my email indicating that the information I provided was helpful. I gave him a dollar figure of our budget. Now 2 months later, I have not heard one word from him. I can only conclude that he was not interested in the job. I consider a two month wait to be way overdue and totally unprofessional. I would never hire this firm based on this experience.

I contacted Beechwood Landscape Architects via email and Steve Chepurny contacted us almost immediately and came out to the house to listen to our requests. He listen to our ideas and desires and came back a week later with a detailed plan and an estimate. His ideas and plans were very detailed and exceeded our expectations. Once we decided to use Beechwood, we signed the contract and work started about three weeks later. They promptly showed every morning by 9 am and finished by 4pm. We had our entire property irrigated as well and they had a 9 zone system installed in approximately 4 hours. Even the flower beds have their own water zone for efficiency. The total landscape process took about 6 days to complete. Steve worked with us concerning all the details. We made a few changes along the way and Steve was vey accommodating. The final product looks fabulous. And the crew always cleaned up after themselves and left the property looking better than before! I would highly recommend this company for your landscape and irrigation needs.

The job has multiple stages and it isn?t finished yet. It?s had its ups and downs. The company has been average so far; the finished product was okay.

First off,once you meet Steve and he gives you his ideas,your hooked! He knows his stuff about landscaping,but better yet,since he has dogs which I have and really needed a plan for the yard,he gave me a yard that I am in as I write this! We both went back and forth and I commented on feeling bad that I revised my contract three times but the end result is magnificent and I couldn't be happier! He will work with you and your ideas and help you along every step of the way. He has the best crew by far,and I have been dealing with contractors for a long period of time now and I am very pleased at this moment in time. My yard is transformed and I will attempt to upload pics to this writing very soon! You need to check out their website and see the work they do,I promise you I live in the city and they came on time, they cleaned up everyday and at all times exceeded my expectations on professionalism. I have a 900lb fountain made of 100% granite that anyone can do in their garden and thats the thing,my yard is like something out of a architectural magazine! Steve worked with me on price until I got what I wanted! His crew supervisor,Rob, is a perfectionist who did not let anything go unless it was exact to the blueprint,thanks Rob! I now will use their yearly services for cleanup and to maintain this beautiful postcard of a yard! additionally,my dogs thank you for the paver patio you made,no more dirty paws for them!

I am extremely happy with all the work done by the guys at Beechwood. The landscaping turned out exactly as I hoped. I now have a "smart" sprinkler system which gauges sun exposure, temperature and precipitation and waters the lawn accordingly. I have contracted their services to provide continued periodic clean-up, pruning and trimming service. I couldn't be more pleased with the results produced by the Beechwood Company!

I talked to the owner. He was a great person. I didn?t dislike anything about the company. I have recommended them to my friends.

When that big 24 inch snowfall hit in February and virtually toppled our 8- foot high bushes that conceal an outdoor patio in NE Philadelphia, I made a terrible error in judgment. The branches continued to touch the ground. After two weeks they were doused in snow and hanging low. I went out there with a saw and cut them down. My handiwork left a gaping hole the size of a giant tent on our front yard. When spring arrived a few weeks later, I looked at my handiwork and gawked at the result. What a mess! It was like looking through a big tent that exposed a patio on the other side of the front lawn. That's when I turned to Angie's List to research a way to cover up my mistake. I looked at many landscapers until I found a large number of references for a place called Beachwood Landscape Architecture. They are based in Southhampton, NJ., some 40 miles away from where we live. Owner Steve Chepurny willingly made the trek to our home even though I warned him that what I needed was landscape counseling, not necessarily landscape execution. I wanted to know what kind of plants should go in to cover up my mistake. And I told him that I might not want to pay for him to come up and do the work. Imagine going to a therapist and telling him/her that you want advice, but you don't want to pay for it. Steve came out anyway. He spent 30 minutes with me going over all of my options. Then he e-maled me a complete estimate with pictures of how the finished job would look. In the end I wasn't charged a dime for any of this. Not a dime! I guess that's why Beechwood Landscape is recommended by so many! That's what I call good PR. And I believe it's worth spreading the word about Beechwood!

We were having a problem with rainwater coming into our family room. We consulted with Steve at Beechwood regarding a resolution. Prior to talking to Beechwood, we had spoken with four other contractors. The other contractors provided what we regarded as "bandaids" to the problem. They offered ways to remove the water once it had accumulated around our house. Beechwood?s proposal was to re-direct the water so that it does not accumulating around the foundation of our home. Steve?s proposal seemed like a solution to our problem rather than a bandaid. Prior to giving us a quote, he took elevations of our property and determined that the old drainage system in place was flat (with no pitch). This did not allow for the water to run away from our home. He also determined that the property was not graded properly, which contributed to the water accumulating by our house. After meeting with us the first time, Steve came back a second time with a very professional architectural rendering of what he proposed to do. In addition, he presented us with a well laid out quote that outlined exactly what steps they would take, and what materials they would use. He also gave us a copy of his certificate of liability insurance and told us that he would handle having the utility companies come out to mark our property. Steve was always prompt, pleasant and very knowledgeable. He was easy to talk to and was happy to answer our questions and concerns. This was a three-day project. On the first day the Beechwood crew arrived and completely excavated one entire side of our property, including part of the backyard. They then began digging the drainage trench. There were usually about three workers at a time, but I saw up to seven men working at times. The crew was VERY hard working and always polite. We never saw them slow down or slack off. That first night, we had a very heavy rain. The next morning, the newly dug trench was completely filled with water. We were very concerned about how they were going to handle this. We had to go to work that day, but later found out that they brought in a pump and pumped all of that water out of the trench. When I arrived home on day two, they were continuing with their work as if nothing had happened. By the end of day two, they had most of the drainage trench dug, the stone and pipe installed, and the drains installed. On day three they completed the drain system, and laid the sod. They also did work around our dogwood tree and gave me info about treating some other problems I was having with shrubs in my yard. They finally placed stone and mulch in various places to landscape the area. Our neighbor told us that he was "keeping an eye on the workers" while we were at work, and he confirmed that they were an incredibly hard working bunch. This was a big job. We were so pleased with the professional approach that every member of that company took with regard to their jobs. They thoroughly cleaned up after themselves, down to hosing off the dirt on the driveway. The end result was meticulous and beautiful! Beechwood was a little more expensive than the other quotes that we received (about 10% higher), but we felt we got far more for our money than we would had we chosen a less thorough contractor. The job they did was far more extensive and the quality of workmanship was what you always hope you will receive. I hope to be able to use Beechwood for other projects in the future and we would gladly recommend them to our family, friends and co-workers.

I was pleased with the pricing, it seemed very affordable. The wall itself was done very well and I have been very pleased. I would recommend them and I plan on continuing my services.

I love the way everything looks, my home is the showplace of the neighborhood. They did top notch work and I couldn't be more pleased. I would recommend them to anyone.

They did a great job of putting in the Belgian block. We have a bit of a problem area at the bottom of our driveway where water was pooling and they even helped us take care of that so there would be some run off.

This company was so responsive to us when we were in a desperate situation. They came right away. The work they did was perfect for what we needed at that time. I think their help really saved us from a horrible water problem.
