From start to finish---this was an excellent experience. I could not have asked for more.
Description of Work: As a single woman, I usually dread when I need work done, the entire process, phone calls, appointments, estimates etc., If and when a company returns a call, they usually don't show on time (if they do at all) and I rarely feel confident with "estimates". Lou Arana, however, returned my call the same day and came to my house a day or so after, when he said he would. In fact, I was the one that missed him when he came out at the time he said he would and when I called him back to apologize and reschedule, he did what was totally unexpected--HE took time after HIS work day and came back to my house!!! I pointed out what I needed and where I needed it, along with a laundry list of other things. Lou did not at any point, suggest the jobs could not be done, the way I wanted them done, as others before him had. After looking around a bit, here and there, coming up with ideas of how to get it all done, he told me he would work up an estimate and get back to me in a few days. AGAIN, he impressed me--he actually called!!! After agreeing on the price, etc., Lou gave me the date and time he'd be out to do the work--BANG! He did it again--he was there, tools in hand, when he said he would be. WOW. I'm born and raised in Philadelphia...we have NO Lou Arana's up there!!! Lou set to work immediately, before I knew it he had climbed up into the overhead crawl space to fix a hazardous condition I'd asked him to, that a friend had pointed out to me. While remedying that problem, Lou found several other dangerous situations up there and set about repairing them after fully explaining to me, what they were and the damages they could cause me. NO OTHER ELECTRICIAN had ever bothered to point these things out to me, let alone fix them--Lou did. While up there, Lou also repaired the exhaust fan wiring from my bathroom, that had been a fire hazard I'd had no knowledge of. I couldn't thank him enough, he did so many extras up there--likely saved my home from inevitable catastrophe. The man is thoughtful, efficient and kind and he knows his electric and taught me, several good things to know throughout the time he spent at my house. Lou then went to work and fixed an overhead light in my laundry room that countless others had told me would not ever work. It works now. Next, he got power to an outlet for my new washer, that others had told me was impossible--Lou made it possible, along with fully securing the lines to the wall, from the washer to outlet--perfectly--with safety being the top priority for him doing so. When he assured that my new washer AND dryer both had ample electric, he plugged them in and EVEN HOOKED UP MY WASHER HOSES!!! The next task was in the kitchen, putting in a 220 for a new electric stove. Lou found a "blank plate" and it turned out to be a 220 line that had been placed 10 years ago, that I'd completely forgotten about. I feel safe in saying, that 9 out of 10 other electricians wouldn't have said a word and would have charged me for running a new one. I was not following Lou around, I trusted him to do the work and he did not disappoint. HE showed ME the outlet was already in place and ready to be cut down at the breaker box, it's wires turned back and tagged there by the electrician that had ran it in, 10 years prior. WOW. Lou went out once to get parts and went back to placing them where they were needed immediatly. He worked from approximately 10 am, to just about 4:30, or so. It was a HOT day, Lou was tired, but didn't blink an eye when I asked him if he could do one more thing, and went about the business of giving me electric in the back yard...again, something I was told I could not ever have without having my cement pulled up! HA! I now have an outlet in my backyard--Lou made it possible! When all was said and done, Lou adjusted my estimate, significantly, since he didn't have to do half the wiring he'd originally thought he would have to, to get my jobs done. BIG WOW. I am not ashamed to say that I just grabbed him and kissed his cheek!!! I have not EVER had such a positive experience with any of the trades-electric, plumbing, etc., in my entire adult life! Lou Arana is a fine, ethical, talented, hard working man with a "bright" future ahead of himself, in his chosen craft-Electrician. I am retired now, but worked for 34 years at Verizon. I spent most of my career as an Electonic Switching Systems Technician. I know a bit about running wire, albeit for telecommunications, I know a talented "Wire Guy", like Lou, when I see one. I also worked in various Customer Service departments during my employment. I know excellent customer service-polite, honest, ethical and fair. Lou Arana also knows excellent customer service---he gives it, everyday. If ever I need an electrician again, I know where to find the best one, in my humble opinion, in the 08204 area! Thank You Angie's List and THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Lou Arana!
