Excellently.
Description of Work: This was my second time using Anchor Electric and the second experience, was the same as the first--"A", excellent--start to finish, in every way. So, you can add, CONSISTENT, to every other element of my overall experience. As a single woman, with too much experience at being, "taken" by craftsman, I DO NOT IMPRESS EASILY. As a woman that's had the better part of 34 years working in customer service, I recognize quality customer service. And Anchor Electric, both impresses and addresses, on every point--Quality, Professional, Punctual and most importantly, Honest and Affordable. I'm having a new kitchen installed and needed to have above, as well as, below the counter, outlets of every kind installed. Also, wiring for a range hood. Anchor Elelctric (Lou Arana) is one of the finest fishers of wire, I've seen and I worked at, "the phone company", for 34 years, where it's all about the wiring! My new outlets and wiring is/are EXACTLY where I need it to be and ready to go to work for me! And my walls are intact and ready for painting! All that and the floor was clean when he left! Do yourself a favor Ladies (and Gentlemen)--get Mrs.Arana's husband to do your electrical work!!! Anchor Electric, is my Electrician of choice and if Anchor Electric's schedule isn't open immediately--then what I need done, will keep until it is!

An appointment was made for three days later on the day I called. Upon arrival I provided information for what I needed to have done and the work began immedately after seeing the location of the electric service box and entrance to the crawl space. When the work was completed, I was informed of what had been done and had an opportunity to ask questions. All work spaces were cleaned up well. The bill was received two days later and was very complete outlining all of the charges.
Description of Work: Installed a 15 amp cicuit with an on off switch for a Wave Ventilator in the crawl space under the home.

From start to finish---this was an excellent experience. I could not have asked for more.
Description of Work: As a single woman, I usually dread when I need work done, the entire process, phone calls, appointments, estimates etc., If and when a company returns a call, they usually don't show on time (if they do at all) and I rarely feel confident with "estimates". Lou Arana, however, returned my call the same day and came to my house a day or so after, when he said he would. In fact, I was the one that missed him when he came out at the time he said he would and when I called him back to apologize and reschedule, he did what was totally unexpected--HE took time after HIS work day and came back to my house!!! I pointed out what I needed and where I needed it, along with a laundry list of other things. Lou did not at any point, suggest the jobs could not be done, the way I wanted them done, as others before him had. After looking around a bit, here and there, coming up with ideas of how to get it all done, he told me he would work up an estimate and get back to me in a few days. AGAIN, he impressed me--he actually called!!! After agreeing on the price, etc., Lou gave me the date and time he'd be out to do the work--BANG! He did it again--he was there, tools in hand, when he said he would be. WOW. I'm born and raised in Philadelphia...we have NO Lou Arana's up there!!! Lou set to work immediately, before I knew it he had climbed up into the overhead crawl space to fix a hazardous condition I'd asked him to, that a friend had pointed out to me. While remedying that problem, Lou found several other dangerous situations up there and set about repairing them after fully explaining to me, what they were and the damages they could cause me. NO OTHER ELECTRICIAN had ever bothered to point these things out to me, let alone fix them--Lou did. While up there, Lou also repaired the exhaust fan wiring from my bathroom, that had been a fire hazard I'd had no knowledge of. I couldn't thank him enough, he did so many extras up there--likely saved my home from inevitable catastrophe. The man is thoughtful, efficient and kind and he knows his electric and taught me, several good things to know throughout the time he spent at my house. Lou then went to work and fixed an overhead light in my laundry room that countless others had told me would not ever work. It works now. Next, he got power to an outlet for my new washer, that others had told me was impossible--Lou made it possible, along with fully securing the lines to the wall, from the washer to outlet--perfectly--with safety being the top priority for him doing so. When he assured that my new washer AND dryer both had ample electric, he plugged them in and EVEN HOOKED UP MY WASHER HOSES!!! The next task was in the kitchen, putting in a 220 for a new electric stove. Lou found a "blank plate" and it turned out to be a 220 line that had been placed 10 years ago, that I'd completely forgotten about. I feel safe in saying, that 9 out of 10 other electricians wouldn't have said a word and would have charged me for running a new one. I was not following Lou around, I trusted him to do the work and he did not disappoint. HE showed ME the outlet was already in place and ready to be cut down at the breaker box, it's wires turned back and tagged there by the electrician that had ran it in, 10 years prior. WOW. Lou went out once to get parts and went back to placing them where they were needed immediatly. He worked from approximately 10 am, to just about 4:30, or so. It was a HOT day, Lou was tired, but didn't blink an eye when I asked him if he could do one more thing, and went about the business of giving me electric in the back yard...again, something I was told I could not ever have without having my cement pulled up! HA! I now have an outlet in my backyard--Lou made it possible! When all was said and done, Lou adjusted my estimate, significantly, since he didn't have to do half the wiring he'd originally thought he would have to, to get my jobs done. BIG WOW. I am not ashamed to say that I just grabbed him and kissed his cheek!!! I have not EVER had such a positive experience with any of the trades-electric, plumbing, etc., in my entire adult life! Lou Arana is a fine, ethical, talented, hard working man with a "bright" future ahead of himself, in his chosen craft-Electrician. I am retired now, but worked for 34 years at Verizon. I spent most of my career as an Electonic Switching Systems Technician. I know a bit about running wire, albeit for telecommunications, I know a talented "Wire Guy", like Lou, when I see one. I also worked in various Customer Service departments during my employment. I know excellent customer service-polite, honest, ethical and fair. Lou Arana also knows excellent customer service---he gives it, everyday. If ever I need an electrician again, I know where to find the best one, in my humble opinion, in the 08204 area! Thank You Angie's List and THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Lou Arana!

Why did we like him? He was friendly, business-oriented, timely, came in and worked very diligently to complete our laundry lists of jobs. He was getting larger jobs that he needed to go to, but stayed w/ours until he got the work done. When one of the fire/carbon monoxide alarms did not work, he went back to the store and got a new one. When he went to connect the microwave, he took the time to go to the store to get a piece of wood for the metal bracket that came w/the microwave. Because of how our kitchen is designed, the microwave sits in front of an open space by a countertop light. To secure the microwave, he needed to install a bracket. To install the bracket, he needed the wood to have a place to secure the screws. When he finished, the microwave looked a little tilted on an odd angle towards the front. When I reviewed this w/him, he did not make excuses or say and quot;it didn't matterand quot; (as another contractor for something else did). It took a minute for him to see what I was talking about and he looked the microwave over as I described my concerns. I was most worried that the food would be tilted inside on the revolving plate as it moved and end up spilling. He looked it over and said and quot;I agree.and quot; And even though it was really challenging to get this microwave up (it was not light - he had a helper - and it was not easy to get the venting installed), he loosened everything up, including the venting, and did it over. Got it perfect! Was very agreeable when we asked him to help us run the cable in the wall, which was important to us as we were getting a firebox installed and access to the cables would not be possible once installed. The last time we called him, we had bought two ceiling fans and took one look at the instructions and myriad of parts, before my husband and I looked at each other and said, and quot;Louie....we've got to call Louie.and quot; He came the next day and they look awesome and run perfect! At the end of any job that caused any debri (like placing the electrical outlets), he didn't ask to use our shop vac, which I told him he was more than welcome to use, instead he brought in a mini shop vac and cleaned everything up. Lastly, his prices were completely in keeping w/what we thought were reasonable and customary. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone in need of a good electrician.
Description of Work: This is essentially a one man (Lu Arana - licensed electrician) business w/occasional assistants as opportunities allow. Lu was recommended to us by our carpenter. He did work for us three times. The first time was to install a new electrical box in a newly built garage. The second time was to do a "honey do" list of at least 7 or 8 items. We recently bought a fixer-upper in West Cape May. He came and installed all new fire/carbon monoxide alarms. We wanted only one fixed, but they were probably greater than 10 years old and were interconnected, one rings in a room, it alerts the entire house, therefore they all needed to be the same brand and age. He also connected a newly installed dishwasher, a newly installed garbage disposal and actually installed a brand new microwave in addition to taking care of the electrical work involved w/the microwave. In addition, he changed over a light hat fixture that was not working despite changing the light bulb and checking the fuse. He installed a new light hat as well over our kitchen counter. He also installed two new electrical outlets for two televisions. All of this work was done over approximately 1 1/2 days. In addition, towards the end of this work, we had a cable tv company in who would not run cable for us through the wall. The cable installers said they only ever bring it into the house and it is up to the consumer to run it in the wall to the desired location. The third time he installed two ceiling fans. This took less than a day.
