I required emergency service on 6/17/15 due to old air handler in my attic was leaking through my kitchen ceiling. I contacted Mike O'donnell (Action Appliance Service) due to him being my neighbors brother and he said he could come out but not until 9:00pm (at this time it was now 4:30pm) because he had his granddaughter's graduation to attend. He showed up at 10:30pm. After being in my attic for some time assessing the situation he told me that the air handler had no emergency pan under it and the drain line froze and hence the water ran throughout my attic. He said the whole system was old (9 years) and he recommended replacing it before other things started going wrong. He also stated that it was installed incorrectly and that he would rectify the problem. I agreed and he went back to the attic and did some minor repairs so the unit could run temporarily but he said if I got up in the middle of the night and I saw it dripping again to shut the unit off. At this point I should interject that Service Master had already been out at 7:00pm and installed 2 large dehumidifiers and 3 large fans to start the drying out process and that the temperatures have been in the 90's. I contacted Mike in the morning to inform him that it was dripping again and I shut the unit down. I also called Service Master to update them of the situation and they said to let the fans and dehumidfiers do their job and they would be out in 2 days to assess the progress. They came out and removed all but 1 dehumidifier and said they would be back on Saturday to once again check out how dry it was. The owner of Service Master came out after the crew came out and removed everything and said he was told it was all dry and to now discuss repair work. Meanwhile 4 days later Mike shows back up to discuss the replacing of the system. We ordered the new air handler and condenser which arrived at my house a few days later. They sat in my garage for ten days all the while I was making phone call after phone and getting excuse after excuse as to why my new system was not getting installed. Finally on 7/7/15 He had my system up and running. Meanwhile we had to buy a window unit for our bedroom so we could sleep in the heat. Mike came out to my house 0n 7/10/15 to inform me of the cost for his work of $6000.00 and I asked him why it was so high. He told me he doubles the price of the material and then adds his labor cost. I told him I thought that was a bit too excessive but gave him the check. The next day I put a stop payment on the check and told him we needed to sit down and negotiate the price considering we never agreed to a price to begin with. We settled on $5000.00 which he was not happy with but accepted it. Since then I have asked him repeatedly to fill out some papers that I need to submit to my home warranty company to get a small amount ($1075.00) reimbursed and he has failed to comply saying he is too busy. We're talking 15 minutes to fill these out. It is now 10/4/15 and still no paperwork provided by Mike. Needles to say I am not a happy man. Last phone call I made to him was last week and he said he would get to it this week. Same answer I have gotten for months. You can now understand my frustration and why I will not recommend Action Appliance Service EVER!!!
