They ripped me off. Run for the hills. They stole $11000 from me and never did the work.

It went terrible. It took 4 months to build the deck and they used my money to pay for other jobs they were working on. Now parts of my deck are falling apart. No one should ever hire this company!

It did not go well. Schallus Construction did not prove to be a reputable company. After we paid, we found some shoddy areas and/or unfinished areas that needed to be addressed. Technically, the contract was breached. Schallus Construction did not care once they got their money about correcting the problems. It is too bad that after going through this unpleasant situtuation, that I read a review by a reviewer on another site that experienced the same problems. I would have never hired this company had I known. Texting, emails, voicemails, and letters have gone ignored. Unfortunately, another contractor has to be hired to fix the work. If you want a job well done and a company that follows up on their work and cares, do not use Schallus Construction.

Found this contractor on Angie's List. I should have heeded the "F" review heaped upon this guy for it is totally applicable here. Called 3 contractors in my area asking to set up appointments to inspect projected renovations for our master bath. Heard back the next day from two of the firms but Schallus took 3 days to return my call. Mike Schallus offered to come over the next day a Saturday around 2pm but this was inconvenient for my wife & I. We then scheduled an appointment for him to come over Monday @ 11:00AM. I'm still waiting for him to show or at least call advising that he's running late. I don't care how busy you are if you expect to be in business for the long term you MUST show up for appointments & return phone calls. As an example, one of the contactors I called has a phone message indicating that if you're in a hurry call someone else as he's booked thru July. This guy is slammed but took the time & had the professional courtesy to return my phone call the next day. As a local real estate broker if I'm asked by a client who in the area does bath renovations I will know just who to tell them NOT to contact.

Overall it went well. 1st installed outdoor shower. 2nd ripped out old bathroom. 3rd put in new windows. 4th put in new bathroom with tile.

Not so well....it took several calls to get a return call. When he did show up, he was professional and friendly, and promised an estimate in the next day or so. I did not hear from him again for quite a while....I called once or twice, then sent an email telling him I was about to choose a company if he still wanted to bid on the job. He explained that he had gone through some changes in his company, and that is why he never got back to me. He sent the estimate a few days later, but his price came in at least 20% above the other two quotes I had. The price, plus the habitual tardiness in responding, caused me to go with another company.

They responded on the phone they would come out. Never heard from them. I called them several more times and still no reponse.

From start to finish the job went super. I didn't need to mention anything, the work quality is bar none; the best I've seen.
