They did a very good job. It was a little expensive, but it was done well.

It was okay. They said they were going to do it themselves but they subcontracted to a subcontractor. We were led to believe it was Home Depot people but the work was done by a subcontractor. I questioned the skill of the contractor. They were a little messy. The windows have a good warranty.
Description of Work: We used Home Depot at Home Services to replace our windows. We didn’t do the whole house, just the windows that needed replacing, probably ten windows. That was summer 2011.

I might hire them though I have not decided yet. I give an A across the board. They were very professional. They were sub contractors. They were excellent.

I waited for an estimate from them and he just called me and gave me a round number. I don't think he took it seriously. After several weeks of waiting for it he just told a figure but did not tell me what he was going to do. He was very slow to get estimates and I don't think they were taking me seriously. He kept pushing us one window, which I felt was very deceiving.

The overall I was very unhappy. There was variety of reasons. The job took much longer than they promised originally. It took longer for them to get here than they promised. There were all kinds of mixed up during ordering materials. Initially what they told me, turned out not to be true. They were all supposed to be factory finish and in color of different ranges. We were able to select and it turned out; but they didn't have factory finish. I painted myself and I had to do it within the time between when they delivered the material and once they install it, one problem after the other. Their sub contracted work was good.

I called them and they did the job. They were very responsive and I had no difficulty in dealing with them. The workers were very friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend them. Home Depot is in another town so I went there and asked them whether they provide the service. The service was very satisfactory. Their price was reasonable. I checked with other people and they said that it depended upon what I purchased. I would use them again in the future.

They did an excellent job. We decided to try wood floors instead of replacing the carpets if we have to do work on the walls. We sat down and discussed the project with someone, they explained everything in detail, everything was in writing, and we knew exactly what days they would deliver the product and what date they would do the work. When the guy did it, he did an excellent job and he cleaned up behind himself. They did the closet and everything, and it was all just great. We didn't compare prices but they are usually pretty good and I thought it was fair. I have no complaints. We got the name of the installer so we could keep it on file.

Great sales pitch, good price (I had to estimate the cost in here b/c I couldn't remember exactly). Went down hill from there. I learned from the workers, none of which were over the age of 23, that this was only their third siding job. The workers stripped our house of siding in one day, leaving it exposed to the rain and elements for almost two weeks it took them to complete the siding work. Over the three day holiday weekend when they did not work (we learned they had another job to work on instead) we had severe rain storms and I still have concerns that this soaking of the exposed house may lead to mildew and mold problems down the road. Bill Hull, the HD project manager, was at our house regularly trying to get them to do the job properly, but it was not clear who the owner of the sub-contracting company was, or who the lead worker was. There were different young men here every day and clearly some were learning on our house. The workers used our trailer to fill with construction garbage without our permission and when we protested, they agreed to clean up, but asked us to provide trash bags. They left trash from their lunches around our yard, used our lawn furniture to stand on as they worked. They went into my husband's tool box in our garage to "borrow" tools and other timber from our garage without permission. They took down outside light fixtures and rain down spouts to do the work and left them strewn about the yard. When they replaced the items, they had lost screws and aluminum holding straps. In several instances they cut new straps out of aluminum sheeting instead of replacing the straps with matching purchased ones. We discovered they lost the screws to some new outdoor lights when one of them fell off the wall when we closed a door. The sliding glass door was put in with adjusting screws instead of wooden shims and screwed in unevenly so that the door was out of square and the latch did not work properly. The screen on that door was mangled in shipping, as were two window sashes. Bill Hull said new sashes and a screen door would be ordered and he took measurements after the sub-contractors completed their work. This was all done by July 8th. Bill assured us that the replacements would arrive in two weeks. Three weeks passed and we began calling Bill Hull and Donna Faulkner. When Donna did not return a call from the previous day my husband called her back. ?If I knew anything I?d have called you,? she snapped at him. She blamed fax machine problems for a window order not being received. Finally, Bill returned to take the numbers of the windows again, and it became clear that they were never ordered. In mid-August, Bill assured us the windows would arrive in two weeks. We spoke to Donna on August 24 to schedule the repair work for Tuesday, August 30. She assured me that contractors would arrive between 8 and 10am with the windows, screen door and they would make adjustments to the out-of-square sliding door. After 10 am I made several phone calls to Donna who again blamed fax problems for the delays, and a contractor arrived at about 1pm without windows or screen. He looked at the door, made a few adjustments and called his boss to come look at it. Finally, by 3:30pm they had finished squaring the door. Keep in mind they were supposed to arrive between 8 and 10 and then be done. I still do not have the replacement sashes or screen. I called Bill Hull again to ask what was going on and he said he would bring them himself later this week. On September 1st when he arrived to replace them, they were still not the correct size and he had to re-order the replacement sashes from Simonton Windows yet AGAIN. The new sashes and the screen door were replaced correctly finally on Monday, September 19th. This was the third time Bill Hull came out with replacement sashes. + + + 10/8/05 Heavy rains brought water down the J-channel of the siding installed by Home Depot and directed water behind the siding and down inside the wall of the house in front of our front door, along the wall of the garage. Also, water poured down the outside wall over the new sliding glass door and around the outside electrical work. We?re unsure if there is water behind the siding in this location, too. There are two other locations where the siding was installed where it failed to cover behind the rain gutters. These are on the second floor by the dormer windows. I called Home Depot At Home services at 8:15 this Saturday morning and left a message on the voice mail. I also called Bill Hull and left a message on his voice mail. I?m very concerned about water getting between the walls and the insulation and causing mold growth. On Monday morning 10/10/05, at 8:15, I called Donna who in turn got in touch with Bill Hull. He was at my house by 10:00am and I pointed out the obvious water problems and the other places where I was very concerned that the water might also be channeled into the house. At 1:30 he returned with a contractor who would do the repair work. Bill agreed that water behind the siding was unacceptable and could lead to much larger problems. Bill agreed to remove all siding from the front door location where the obvious water flow was, also agreed to remove the siding from around the sliding door and electrical work to be certain that it was dry, and replace any insulation that was wet, re-side the area and seal it to prevent future water problems. Bill discussed this with the new contractor who said, depending on the weather, he?d get to the project by Saturday or Monday of the following week (10/19). Bill said that usually HD does siding and gutters as a package and there isn?t the problem of siding around the gutters. However, he never mentioned this to us during the installation, did not suggest replacing the gutters (which were replaced 5 years ago and are not in need of replacement), nor did he note that siding around the gutters would be any kind of concern at the time of the install. Adding to these problems, the handle of the sliding screen door snapped off in a guest?s hand on 10/9. Bill brought and installed a new handle. The new contractor did arrive at our home on Saturday, October 15th and refitted the siding around the gutters correctly. I am still concerned that damage has been done to the interior walls of the garage as we continue to smell a growing mildew aroma in the area where the siding was leaking. + + + We have completed early payment to Home Depot for this job which cost us over $26,000, but I believe the work was inferior and that Home Depot did not screen or train their sub-contractors. This has been distressing for my two toddlers who had to remain housebound while we waited for workers to arrive or until our yard could be cleared of nails and sharp aluminum pieces which were left for us to clean up. Your advertising says, ?Start-to-finish project management ensures accurate measurements and a professional installation; and ?superior material and craftsmanship warranties* backed by The Home Depot.? I have not seen superior or professional craftsmanship and I am dissatisfied with this situation. The only person who has been attentive to our dissatisfaction is Bill Hull, who seems equally frustrated by the inferior contract work and the unreliable product orders. We will continue to complain until the job is done right, but we will also never use your service again. I plan on sharing our experience with our neighbors and friends and discouraging them from using Home Depot At Home Services. + + + + + + + + + February, 2008 -- One of my four-year-old children grabbed the exterior handle on the sliding glass door to the deck from outside and it came off the track and fell into the family room, shattering all over the carpeting and furniture. I had made a complaint to HD about the door not sliding properly several times. Bill Hull had been out a week or so earlier and ?adjusted? the glides on the door and was waiting for a part to replace on the glides to improve the motion of the door. It is clear that this door was never installed properly to begin with. I had had HD service people out previously to look at it and also fix the flashing around a second story window when it came loose on a windy day. The window flashing had not been nailed into any wood. The additional wood trim which we paid to have replaced and reinforced was not there and the nail had nothing to be affixed to. However, when the heavy double pane sliding glass door shattered, Bill Hull came out immediately and the following day had the door replaced and installed correctly. Nonetheless, that door could have easily fallen on one of my children and caused severe injury or death. It never would have happened if the door had been installed properly to begin with. +++++ Saturday, October 3, 2009, we discovered that the garage ceiling had collapsed. The drywall and insulation attached to the crossbeams in the ceiling had given way and fallen to rest on the garage door tracks. As we began to pull down the broken drywall we discovered layers of black mold between the foam board insulation and the drywall, and saw that the fiberglass insulation around the dormer windows above the garage ceiling was full of black mold. At the time of the initial collapse, the day was sunny and there was no actively dripping water. However, a few weeks later as we tried to determine exactly where the moisture originated, we had a very heavy rain storm that revealed rain coming down unsealed siding caps around the dormer windows above the garage. Water was channeling down those areas, saturating the insulation, and dripping into the garage. END RESULT: moldy smell around windows, still leaking garage despite fixes from HD. HD made us sign off on no more contesting their work in order to pay for garage fix. Nowhere near what we've experienced or paid since their work.
Description of Work: re-side house, replace sliding glass door, replace 10 windows, add additional insulation under siding.

I spent around $6700. I had a very good experience with them. They came out, measured the windows, and gave me an estimate. I had to have the windows approved by the association. Once I got that done, I decided to go with this company. Once I signed the contract, a gentleman came out to re-measure the windows. A week later, they came out and installed the windows. They were the only company I used. So, I can?t comment on the quality of the windows. I will use them again in the future. However, next time I will get estimates from other companies as well.
