The Bed Bug Hunters

If I could give this company a 0, I would. I have a TINY studio apartment. Dogs, I thought, were the only sure-fire way of knowing if you have bed bugs, so I was paying for that peace of mind. Doug and his "trained" dog have failed miserably, despite the fact that he stated that my apartment did not have bed bugs because the dog didn't "alert." I found a live bed bug in my apartment, 2 weeks later, after still getting bitten each night, following the "inspection." I paid $275 for nothing. When I called to tell Doug that he failed, he LAUGHED and said it wasn't a guarantee. He also had the nerve to suggest that I got them after the inspection. Why would I pay THAT MUCH MONEY if I didn't have enough evidence, minus actually seeing a bed bug, to believe that I had an infestation? Word to the wise: If you haven't actually seen a bed bug yet, just wait until you do. It is not worth having a dog come out, only to fail, then have to deal with treatment anyway.

We have a 2-story row home in philadelphia and discovered a single adult bed bug on our 1st floor. We called Doug on a Sunday and he was able to come out that day! He was on time, very professional, wore booties as he walked through the house. His dogs are incredibly well trained. The whole inspection took less than 30 minutes, and Doug explained to us everything he and the dogs were doing. A great experience because for ONCE with a pest situation, the guy person doing the inspection was not also the person offering to fix it for me (Orkin, Green Pest Solutions, etc). Since Doug only does the inspection, there's no conflict of interest, and he doesn't have anything to gain by me either having or not having a problem. I would definitely recommend his services and would use him again.

Doug Moore - owner, trainer, very knowledgeable and professional. Dogs very good workers, well trained. 2 inspections, dogs indicated on first, house was treated then re-inspected and passed.

It went well. They were prompt, they had to come out a couple of times but the problem did go away. Overall the problem was not eliminated the first time. We had to call them back again have them come out and re-do the same treatment. Pricing, they were comparable to other pricing that we saw, I think they were over anyone else. Quality wise they had to come back and do it the next time, I don’t know if the quality was very good. As soon as the person left there weren’t bed bugs for the next couple of days but they come out prompt. So I don’t know, the quality of their product is one thing but the quality of the service was good. For the future I think we would choose someone else.

Scout gave a clear, and unambiguous result - no bedbugs were detected in any room of my house - which was a happy ending as far as I was concerned. I was concerned that we'd get an ambiguous result and that I'd have to make a judgement call. Nope. Scout and the provider gave a clear, definitive and unambiguous result: No Bedbugs Detected. I was relieved. The provider had a great way with both Scout and with us customers. Scout was a very well-behaved dog (characteristic of well-trained working dogs). Using The Bedbug Hunter was a pleasant experience and, in my case, the result was what I had been hoping and praying for - a clear, unambiguous and negative, result. I'd gladly use The Bedbug Hunter again if the need to detect bedbugs were to arise again, and I confidently recommend them to folks having such a need.
